Industrial style

Urban style with simple and modern decoration, functional furniture and lack of decorative additions. The following materials are used in the interior: metal, concrete and wood. The walls are plastered, and classic curtains are replaced with Roman curtains.

Furniture is replaced:

  1. Wine boxes;
  2. Racks;
  3. Stepladders and other items.

The point is to use ordinary objects to the maximum and with comfort.

Economy class kitchen

When thinking about inexpensive kitchen renovations, remember that the design should be beautiful and the furnishings comfortable. Therefore, carefully consider every element of the interior. In an economy class kitchen, furniture, utensils, appliances and accessories must perform some function. Plus, the headset should not take up much space, but be practical. The interior of an economy class kitchen requires a special approach and attention.

Frugal Ideas

As a rule, in modern apartments, kitchens are not large in size. This means that the furniture should be compact. An excellent option would be to buy a corner set. It is roomy, but does not take up much space. Economy class interior options are presented in the photo.

When planning the arrangement of furnishings in the kitchen, do not forget that there should be as little distance as possible between the stove, refrigerator and sink. Therefore, place them closer to each other. The best location option looks like this:

  • fridge,
  • washing;
  • hob;
  • cupboard for dishes.

When selecting finishing materials, pay attention to quality and expected service life. In conditions of fumes, which are inevitable during the cooking process, all finishing materials should not emit unpleasant odors, peel or peel off from surfaces.

How to decorate an apartment or house on a small budget

Interior design is not a cheap thing. Designer items are usually expensive, and designer services are also a lot. Not everyone has enough money to do something beautiful, but the desire to “do it beautifully” remains. What to do? There are several simple ways to get out of the situation. The result, of course, will not be super fantastic, but it is definitely better than doing nothing at all.

Accessorize your IKEA furniture

When the budget is limited, the first thing that comes to mind is IKEA. Not the best option in terms of furniture quality, but where to go. The most common method of improving IKEA furniture is to replace handles and other fittings visible on the facade.

This is how I did it myself in one of my projects.

We took a PAX cabinet and specially purchased handles and decorative tassels for it from Zara Home. The wardrobe with these accessories began to look more decent and more expensive.

Although handles and tassels are a very expensive pleasure, a cabinet of this size in another company would cost even more.

Some designers on their blogs show how they buy IKEA furniture without finishing and paint it themselves in more decent colors than those that are in the standard set. But you are unlikely to paint it as smoothly at home as a machine does in a factory. The paint will go on unevenly and won’t turn out beautifully. I've seen several attempts at this type of painting, and none of them were successful. So, I won’t recommend this method to you, but if you want, you can try it.

Add art

If you have assembled an interior from simple furniture from a nearby store, allocate some money to purchase one or more real paintings or good reproductions.

It won't cost as much as a full set of expensive furniture, but it will look much better. There are many artists who sell their work online at a very affordable price, and the work is very worthy in terms of its artistic value.

The main thing is not to forget about the interior style. You don’t need any kind of painting, but a suitable one. If your interior is modern, then you have a large selection of beautiful posters, reproductions and reprints. And if you have a classic, the number of options decreases, but if you look, you can also find something decent.

And by the way, do you know what is the most valuable thing in a painting from the point of view of interior design? This is her frame! A large gold frame can ruin the whole impression. On the other hand, an unsightly children's drawing in a well-chosen frame can look like a real work of art.

Therefore, if you can draw yourself, even if not at a highly professional level, choose a good frame for your drawing. I wrote about what else you can put in a frame, besides photographs, here.

Add Jewels

If you have made a simple interior, then add some glitter to it, which will add “expensiveness” to the interior.

This could be gold trim on the legs of a coffee table, maybe silver on a mirror, or maybe bronze trim on a vase on a table, or crystal pendants on a chandelier.

In any case, you need to add shiny, expensive nobility in the form of metal or crystal.

The most important thing is not to take obvious Chinese fakes “looking like gold” or “like silver”. Usually they look too obvious a fake: they will not add beauty, but, on the contrary, will worsen the situation.

Add stylish antiques

If we're talking about fakes, then adding an old vintage item to a simple interior can significantly improve it. Add a special twist, a point of interest.

Just keep in mind that if you have some old furniture left over from your relatives, you don’t need to put it directly into the interior. It may not at all match the style and appearance of the rest of the furniture. Think about how you can update it: paint it, reupholster it, maybe rearrange the handles, replace the glass. After that, give it to a furniture maker, and only then place it in the interior.

Add textiles

The most affordable way to improve the interior is textiles. I already mentioned this in the article “How to improve the interior and make it more interesting” read.

You can put a beautiful tablecloth on a simple or old table. If you have plain painted walls, hang some nice curtains. If you have nondescript upholstered furniture, then cover it with pleasant blankets and add decorative pillows.

Just don’t buy the first textile you come across at the nearest clothing market. Nothing good will come of this. Go to specialized stores, such as Zara Home or Eurodom. Order curtains from a specialized curtain company.

Add plants

Not obvious, but a winning solution in terms of improving the interior are indoor plants.

You just need to remember that a plant in the interior is not a plant in itself, but an art object. Therefore, you need to choose the right variety and shape, and most importantly, choose the right pot for it. Any kind of plastic is not suitable here. I wrote about a plant pot as an independent art object in this article.

Interior design is work. First of all, intellectual. We need to think about how to do better. Create an action plan. Then run around the shops looking for the items you need. And at the very end, collect everything into a single composition. Therefore, if you want to do it beautifully and well, get ready to spend a lot of time. You can't do well without spending. You either waste money, or time and energy. There is no other way.

Stages of finishing an economy class apartment: main, intermediate and final

Having decided to do a budget but good economy class finishing with your own hands, you need to think through the sequence of work.

You should start with activities related to changing the layout of the apartment, for example, with dismantling and moving walls, partitions, as well as preparing walls for finishing: cleaning old wallpaper, plaster, leveling and filling voids that remained after removing old coatings.

Before you start decorating the room, you must first do all this.

Basic steps:

  • Demolition of walls, strengthening of doorways, punching and finishing of arches and other actions related to dismantling. The price of the work is determined by the type of construction.
  • Installation of interior partitions.
  • Ventilation system design.
  • Laying water and sewer pipes.
  • Electrical installation.
  • Installation of low-current wiring (Internet, television, telephone, security systems).
  • Performing floor screed.
  • Plastering, wall putty.
  • Installation of windows and entrance doors.
  • Installation of the external unit of the air conditioner, as well as laying air ducts for the internal unit.

Intermediate stage:

  • Laying tiles.
  • Plasterboard finishing.
  • Ceiling putty.
  • Installation of window sills.
  • Installation of ceiling decorative elements (ceiling dumbbells, stucco).

Final stage:

  • Pasting wallpaper on walls, installing wall panels, painting walls and ceilings.
  • Installation of interior doors.
  • Installation of decorative ceilings.
  • Laying floor coverings (parquet, laminate, linoleum, carpet, etc.).
  • Installation of platbands.
  • Installation of skirting boards.
  • Installation of switches and sockets.
  • Installation of ceiling lamps and sconces.
  • Installation of video surveillance system elements (video cameras, video intercom).
  • Wiring of plumbing fixtures (toilet, bathtub, shower).
  • Installation of built-in cabinets.
  • Installation of the indoor air conditioner unit.
  • Garbage removal.

It is extremely important to adhere to the sequence of work during economy class repairs, otherwise alterations cannot be avoided. But, of course, you don't have to do everything on the list above.

In order not to get confused in the details, it is necessary to design a design where everything will be taken into account and every step of the repair work will be outlined.

A design project is a plan that takes into account absolutely everything. The quality of materials, their quantity, sequence of actions - all this should be reflected in your project. Only in this case, economy class repairs will go smoothly and calmly, without surprises.

The next stage after drawing up the design project is finishing work. They, in turn, can be divided into rough and finishing work. Rough work includes laying pipelines, electrical networks, dismantling and moving partitions, floor screeding, plastering.

The ceiling, floor and walls should also be included in different stages. Then it will be even easier not to miss anything important when performing economy class repairs.

European urban

Finishing: $, used already existing in the new building Main furniture: $$$ Accessories: $

Approximate budget for a one-room apartment: 700 thousand rubles for everything.

Due to the fact that European urban is implemented mainly in stylish, modern new buildings in Berlin, Munich, London, Warsaw and other capitals, it looks very modern and expensive, but in reality it is very cheap. Furniture made in Turkey with its unique laconicism allows you to make such a room very modern.

Real savings: 12 inexpensive apartment renovations

The cheapest repair cost 100 thousand rubles

Do you think that good renovation is impossible on a limited budget? We hasten to dissuade you - just look at these projects.

Converting a Khrushchev building into a comfortable studio

Budget: 1,000,000 rubles

The architects of the KDVA Architects studio created a simple, clean, ideally functional space on the basis of an ordinary Khrushchev-era building in the coastal city of Nakhodka. In this case, a one-room apartment with an area of 33 square meters has been turned into a studio designed for one person. Or for a married couple, because the bed in the plywood cube is double.

Budget project for a one-room apartment

Budget: 750,000 rubles

The customer plans to rent out the future space to a young couple without children, so the interior of this apartment should be modern, but at the same time it should not put too much of a strain on the property owner’s wallet. One of the main requirements of the apartment owner was to divide the only living room into two zones - private and public.

One-room apartment for a student

Budget: 700,000 rubles

This project is an example of a situation where there is neither time nor money for repairs. But I want to live with comfort, at least minimal. “We got the apartment when the rough renovation was already completed,” says designer Marina Nazarenko. “So there was no question of playing with the layout and making it more rational.”

Inexpensive repairs in a month

Budget: 700,000 rubles

The main task was to create an interior in one month in which everything would be ready for life, and every thing would find its place. At the same time, the budget was strictly fixed, and it was not intended to go beyond it.

In the project it was important not to allow ready-made solutions, not to create associations with European-quality renovation, an apartment in the French or Brooklyn style.

Self-repair in one-room apartment

Budget: 700,000 rubles

Young parents Kirill and Yulia managed to make the one-room space ideal for a comfortable life for their family. Proper zoning, a little creativity and the desire to live beautifully is their formula for success. Despite the small area, the apartment turned out to be cozy and comfortable to live in.

Ecostyle

The name speaks for itself. The less time a person spends in nature, the more he misses it. Ecostyle helps to establish an imbalance in a person and brings him closer to his roots. The style involves the use of natural materials - wood, stone, linen, cotton. Indoor plants occupy a special place. They must be in the house on window sills and special stands. If desired, you can complement the interior with an aquarium.

These are the 7 most budget-friendly options for home decoration. Of course, you don’t have to save on them and spend a lot of money, but this will not change the perception of the interior. Therefore, these styles are ideal for those who are not ready or able to spend all their savings. Any style can be made more budget-friendly, but the ones described above will not lose their charm and beauty.

Basic rules for budget renovation

So, in this article we will talk about the second type of situation: how to do a decent, but, nevertheless, not too expensive apartment renovation with your own hands. Let's start by listing the basic rules that should be taken into account when solving such a problem:

  • You cannot save money on the bathroom and kitchen, no matter how much you want to do a budget renovation. This rule applies mainly to plumbing, finishing materials, and hoods. If all this is of poor quality, not wear-resistant and durable enough, then you will simply spend much more money on repairs and replacements of worn-out items than if you immediately buy reliable options. However, you can save on some things here too. For example, on furniture (as long as it is protected from high temperatures, high humidity and aggressive chemicals), on lighting fixtures (especially in the bathroom, where minimalist lamps without any decorations look more than appropriate), on wallpaper ( after all, you can always re-glue them, and it won’t cost you that much money).

  • Take a closer look at modern types of laminate flooring. This flooring material is traditionally considered the most uncomplicated, short-lived and “bad-looking”, but this idea is quite outdated. Nowadays, many manufacturers produce very stylish, aesthetic laminate flooring that is resistant to abrasion, mechanical stress and other external factors, and it costs much less than more “respectable” types of flooring (for example, parquet).
  • Use all the possibilities of budget zoning. This could be different brightness of lighting fixtures, different colors, shades or textures of finishing materials, and even decorative screens. Zoning is an inexpensive way to make even a small apartment much more functional and ergonomic than with the classic arrangement of interior items and other things.
  • Don't rush to throw away old things. Repair is a very addictive process. New ideas constantly appear, you want to change everything radically, to the point where you have the idea to throw away almost everything and create the design of your apartment from scratch. However, competent budget renovation requires careful treatment of what you already have in your home. There is no need to worry over old wallpaper or a sagging sofa, but, for example, a serviceable but scratched wardrobe can be restored, turning it into something new and quite stylish. Fortunately, you can find a lot of master classes on such work.

  • Consider not only the cost of the necessary materials, but also the cost of the associated work. Better yet, learn to do a lot yourself. Often, leveling walls and wallpapering, laying flooring, finishing the ceiling, repairing electrical wiring, installing plumbing and electrical appliances cost a tidy sum, which may even exceed the cost of the materials and devices themselves. Naturally, you will not do all this work yourself, unless you have extensive experience in performing repairs. However, you can do a lot, you just need to study thematic materials on the Internet and be well prepared for the process.

Beach Coastal

Finishes: $ Main Furniture: $$$ Accessories: $

Approximate budget for a one-room apartment: 900 thousand rubles for everything.

Coastal style is easy to implement - American furniture, white and blue colors with the addition of sand, a couple of bright, noticeable thematic accessories - and you get a fashionable style for the price of ordinary furniture. An American sofa and an Americano-style kitchen, usually white or beige, are the basis of everything here.
