Wooden phone stand: drawings, master classes, photos

What you need to make a wooden phone holder

The main element is the basis of the future stand. Any board or piece of wood of suitable thickness will do. A long structure will take up too much space, but it should be enough to give the model stability.

The lack of length is compensated by the thickness of the base - this will make the stand more stable

You need to select a workpiece based on your phone model. The groove for long smartphones will have to be made deep, with a slope. Before starting work, you should make a small cutout and install the device into it, expanding it to the required size. A right angle is also acceptable, but working with the device will be less convenient.

The minimum kit for preparing to create a stand includes:

  1. The basis. Wide beam of required thickness. There is no particular difference in the choice of wood, but some varieties are more difficult to process.
  2. Tool. A wood hacksaw, ideally a router, to create a recess. Sandpaper and files will help give the stand a nice appearance.
  3. Marking supplies - pencil, marker, ruler.
  4. Additional materials for creating complex and unusual models. Varnishes, paints, glue, decorative elements.

A simple design can be created using ready-made diagrams.

What do we need

In order to implement our plans, we will need the following:

  • a pair of paper clips;
  • pliers;
  • bank card (expired, of course);
  • Super glue.

To make the building more attractive, we may also need additional design elements. This could be, for example, rhinestones, pieces of fabric or colored leather.

In addition, we can supplement the design with special corners - clips, which you have probably seen in cases - books for phones and tablets. They are made of rubber and glued to a plastic card.

Drawings of a wooden phone stand

This option is suitable for those who need functionality without excesses. A ready-made scheme is the fastest and most convenient way. Before starting work, print out a drawing or sketch of a wooden phone stand and work with the workpiece, observing the specified dimensions.

The dimensions can be taken as a basis for constructing your own drawings

If the dimensions are not suitable, they can be changed proportionally; the main thing is that the groove continues to hold the device. Some schemes are initially designed for flagship models with a wide display - if you have a more compact device, you can safely reduce the parameters.

Pros and cons of a homemade stand

The following advantages of making a stand yourself can be highlighted:

  • high production speed;
  • minimum cost;
  • originality and uniqueness.

Disadvantages include the unreliability of simple designs and the need for additional tools for more complex ones.

The main thing is that the weight of the device is evenly distributed on the homemade holder.

When deciding how to make a phone stand with your own hands, you should take into account the weight and dimensions of the device. If the appropriate material is selected, the design will increase the comfort of using the smartphone.

How to make a phone stand out of wood

Before starting work, you need to prepare the foundation. You can process it in several ways:

  • using a router - fix it on the rails, align it on both sides;
  • miter or circular saw;
  • with a simple hand tool for wood.

A telephone is placed on the finished block. The distance between the future recess and the back side should be a couple of centimeters greater than the length of the device.

The next stage is creating a fixing recess. It is recommended to make the groove not too deep. If you have no experience, it is better to make a rough cut, install a smartphone and make improvements until it is completely stable.

The surface of the stand is sanded with sandpaper. If you have a tool, it is recommended to round the corners - this way the stand will look aesthetically pleasing and neat, even in a simple design. The surface can be coated with colorless oil, or given the desired shade.

Simple phone stand for wooden table

The basic version looks the most minimalistic - the device will be small and universal. Wood is a classic material, so the product will fit into any interior; the stand will look good both at home and on the office desk.

Advice! A simple wood phone stand project is the best way to practice. You should not take expensive types of wood as a workpiece; an ordinary beam or board will do.

You can focus on one phone model or several devices. For example, make cross grooves along and across the workpiece. The narrow slot will fit a smartphone, and the wide slot will fit a tablet or e-reader.

Sophisticated phone holder made of wood

A complex design is a way to turn an object that is simple in its purpose into an interesting element of the interior. The stand in this case can be made of several parts. One example is a design based on the principle of a photo frame. One surface fixes the device, the other serves as a support.

There are two popular options:

  1. The recesses are cut to fit the size of the phone. When placed in the stand, the smartphone looks like a glove - the screen is flush with the wooden surface. Additionally, you can make a recess for the charging cable. The stand looks impressive, but requires careful preparation - the dimensions must match perfectly. It is difficult to make it without a router the first time - numerous modifications will be required.
  2. Two planks are placed at an angle. One serves as a support for both the entire structure and the bottom of the phone. The second is installed obliquely. One of the advantages is that the stand can be made wide, suitable for any devices; holders for accessories or office supplies are placed in the free space.

When preparing for work, special attention should be paid to the final processing of the product.
The workpiece is initially selected from high-quality wood species - for example, to match the shades of the interior. The surface is treated with impregnation and varnish. Attention! When working with paints and varnishes, you must follow the safety rules indicated on the containers.

The vertical surface can be further highlighted by giving it a bizarre shape - as much as your imagination allows. If you have tools and a piece of sufficient thickness, you can make it in the form of a hand holding the device.

You can detail the holding part in any way - give it an interesting shape, decorate it

The functionality can be expanded and slots can be made for other small devices - a holder for a watch, a stylus. Wood is easy to process, so there will be no difficulties in improving the design.

The finished phone stand can be painted and a logo applied using a laser or burner - a way to turn the product into a custom work of art.

DIY smartphone stand: use paper clips or paper

In the modern world, it is no longer possible to imagine life without smartphones. They can replace so many vital things: be a clock and an alarm clock, record an important conversation using a voice recorder, replace the good old player, camera, etc.

Even watching a movie on such a device is now commonplace; if previously the phone disappeared into the vast spaces of women's bags and men's pockets, now the place of the smartphone is on the desktop.

For more convenient use of this device, it’s good when you can make a smartphone stand with your own hands.

Everything you need to create your own stand can be found at home.

This is very convenient, because sometimes the desire to make something comes, but there is no desire to go to the store and specially prepare for such an event.

Below we will describe several instructions for making such a convenient thing as a stand for your smartphone. One idea is suitable for making even in the office, while the second is more domesticated.

The office is in use

Representatives of office professions know very well that there is more than enough office supplies in the workplace. Moreover, you can find everything from pencils and pens to office clips.

So I came up with an idea that is easy to implement and will definitely be useful.

Why not make a stand out of office clips? They look like this, and if anyone didn’t notice them before, now everyone will definitely pay attention:

  • There are colored ones, small, large, as you can imagine, so you won’t have to complain about a monotonous black stand; by choosing colored clips, you will unknowingly improve your mood by looking at the bright and warm colors:
  • For the first variation you will need only two large clamps.

Pay attention to the size of your smartphone; you may need smaller or larger clamps.

Tape them together using a piece of paper or cardboard, or any other flat thing, and the stand is ready!

If you want to watch something on your smartphone and charge it at the same time, then you will need four of the same clamps, they are fastened together as shown in the figure, and the charger is placed in the middle, this way the smartphone is held tightly and is in a comfortable position for charging.

Using clamps, you can come up with various options for fastening them together to create stands and holders; here you can only rely on your imagination. It’s quite convenient that all these structures can be quickly disassembled; when you get tired of it or need its elements, in a matter of seconds it will seem that there was no stand at all.

Paper technology

If the stand can be made from stationery clips, then you can also try from paper. For this you will need:

  • thick sheet of paper;
  • ruler (minimum 20 cm);
  • scissors;
  • pen;
  • optional paints and varnish (water-based).

Creating an interesting stand for a smartphone will take no more than 20 minutes; origami techniques will be used to make it. The result will be such an unusual thing.

The first step will be to mark on the sheet with a pencil or pen - whatever is at hand, a square shape of 20*20 cm. This is the size of the stand for standard smartphones. Next, cut along the contour and get:

You can use either a regular thick sheet of paper or a cover from a notebook, notepad, colored cardboard, etc. The format is suitable A4.

Next, the sheet is first folded horizontally in half, then vertically. The folds should be pressed down well so that they can be used in the future. Having finished with this, we unfold the sheet with clearly defined outlines of horizontal and vertical lines.

For ease of use, let’s mark where our left side is and where our right side is. We take the left edge and wrap it until it rests in the middle of the sheet.

  1. We do the same with the right edge. As a result, we get a sheet that looks like this:

The next step is to create triangles from what we have so far. To do this, one of the corners, upper right or lower right, it doesn’t matter which one you start with, you need to turn it towards the middle, you get a diagonal line. Here we will need a ruler, since the paper in several layers becomes quite dense, it is convenient to smooth and align the fold line with a ruler.

Useful tips

Several recommendations will help you avoid difficulties during your work:

  • The phone is prevented from sliding by installing a small locking bar;
  • Sanding the entire stand is not necessary, but rough spots under the phone will scratch the body or case;
  • before creating a complex stand, it is worth making a draft - a rough layout, to determine the exact dimensions and possible errors;
  • the groove in the workpiece is made to a depth of no more than half of the total thickness.

As with any craft made from wood, you may not get the phone stand right the first time. The most common problem is an incorrectly sized indentation that prevents the phone from holding. There is nothing scary about this - a bad experience will help in future work.

Types of stands

Stands may vary in material used. The following options are available:

  1. Metal. This accessory is characterized by high strength, wear resistance and a long service life. At the same time, it is difficult to make it yourself, and the cost of finished products will be the highest.
  2. Tree. Quite popular and more accessible material. Bamboo and ash are most often used to make holders. They can be either painted and decorated, or have an accentuated natural wood texture.
  3. Ceramics. These stands have an elegant appearance, but are extremely fragile. They often have a bizarre and original shape, such as animals or geometric shapes.
  4. Textile. A convenient home option, which is a small pillow of a special shape or a soft toy.
  5. Plastic. This material is universal. Holders of any shapes and colors are made from it.
  6. Paper. The most accessible material for self-production, which does not have high performance indicators.

A necessary accessory will be a homemade and original phone stand.
Note! The stand does not have to look like a free-standing structure. Often it is attached directly to the phone or its case.

The following types of stands can be distinguished depending on their purpose:

  1. Tabletop. They fix devices of different sizes, which makes them universal. They usually take the form of a plate mounted on a table and a clamp that serves to hold the gadget.
  2. Universal. Such holders have a flexible mount that allows them to be installed on various surfaces. They can be used anywhere.
  3. Automotive. They can either take the form of a holder suitable for a smartphone of a certain size, or contain a magnetic mount. Its second part is glued to the phone body, providing reliable fixation while moving.

It is simply impossible to imagine a modern person without a smartphone or telephone.
Note! Stands can be made in different styles, so it is advisable to choose them based on the design features of the room where they will be located.

Often, an owner who wants to always have a phone at hand wants to position it in a convenient way.

Examples of finished products - from simple designs to intricate and designer ones.

The stand needs careful surface treatment - at least with sandpaper, ideally - coated with colorless varnish. Thanks to the cutout, the stand becomes a multifunctional product, it is convenient to place watches or other accessories. You need to use it carefully - an awkward movement and the stand can tip over. When decorating, it is worth remembering that part of the area is blocked by the phone itself - you should not focus only on this area
