The kitchen is the place where all family members gather for lunch or dinner. The dining area is used for receiving guests, drinking tea and having a pleasant conversation. The table in it performs many functions, so choosing it is a responsible and important matter.
Tables come in different sizes, shapes, colors. Let's focus on round ones. Let's consider all the possible options for dining areas with a round table in your kitchen.
Pros and cons of the round table
Advantages of the round table:
- No corners. It is safe for children and comfortable for adults;
- Takes up less space in the kitchen if you place it close to the window;
- Accommodate more people;
- It’s comfortable to sit because the table legs don’t get in the way;
- Creates an atmosphere of romance.
Disadvantages of the round table:
- Instability of models on one support. A rectangular table stands firmly on four legs;
- By installing a round table on three legs, you solve the problem of instability easily and simply;
- It cannot be placed close to the wall;
- It is impossible to make a chain of several round tables to receive a large number of guests;
- At a round table with a large surface, it is inconvenient to reach to the middle to take any dish.
Decoration
A semicircular or round table for the kitchen will be an interesting design solution in itself. Its unusual shape invites additional decoration.
Tablecloths favorably emphasize the rounded shapes of the tabletop and make it easy to change the overall mood of the kitchen. There may be several of them, for different occasions.
It is appropriate to place a composition of flowers in the center. Beautiful bouquets in vases or flowers in pots serve as a pleasant addition to the interior. It is important to remember that any decorative elements placed in the middle part of the tabletop should not be too bulky and interfere with the view of those sitting.
Lifehack from the designer for all fans of round shapes. We bought a table, but it didn’t match the color. Don’t be upset: an original tablecloth is your faithful friend and helper. There is nothing more pleasant than drinking tea with friends and family at a round table covered with a beautiful tablecloth.
Choosing a table for the kitchen of different designs
A round table can be combined with any design.
The main thing is to choose the color scheme and the material from which the tabletop is made.
Wooden tables of large and small sizes are suitable for a Provence style kitchen; dark shades are used in English, and plastic is used in Art Nouveau.
Art Deco can be muted with a round table in a pleasant milky color.
And the bright textiles of the tablecloth will add richness and brightness to the kitchen in the Scandinavian style, which is done in white and blue shades.
Large wooden dining table
A solid wooden, almost round table can transform the living room space. Even in a new apartment or house it will immediately feel cozy and warm when the whole family sits down to have breakfast and discuss the events of the past day.
Thanks to the special structure, the leg can withstand heavy loads. And even if the weight is incorrectly distributed over the surface, the product will not lose its stability.
What tools and materials will be needed
In order to make dining furniture, you need to purchase:
- 7 boards 2.5x15.2 cm, length 243.8 cm (cut to length first);
- 2 bars 5.1×5.1 cm, length 243.8 cm;
- 2 boards 5.1x15.6 cm each 243.8 cm;
- 1 board 2.5x20.3 cm, length 182.9 cm;
- 1 plank 5.1x20.3 cm, length 182.9 cm;
- 2 boards 5.1x7.6 cm, length 243.8 cm;
- screws and nails.
Prepare tools for working with wood in advance: a circular saw, a sander, a drill with drill bits, a pocket hole jig, a tape measure, clamps, a square, a pencil.
Before you begin assembling the table, prepare all the necessary parts for it. Do the cutting yourself or order cutting in a workshop according to the following list:
- 4 base pieces 2.5 x 15.2 cm, 13.3 cm long. Bevel each end by 30 degrees.
- 2 base elements 2.5x15.2 cm, 47 cm long. One end of each part is beveled at an angle of 30 degrees.
- 2 base parts 5.1x15.2 cm, 46 cm long. One end of each with a cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
- 2 base blanks 25x152 mm, 41 cm each.
- 1 base piece 25x152 mm, length 1.118 m. Both ends of each piece are beveled at an angle of 30 degrees.
- 1 base element 51×152 mm, length 109.5 cm. Both ends of the part are cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
- 1 base piece 25x152 mm, length 99.4 cm.
- 2 leg elements 25x203 mm, length 70.5 cm.
- 1 piece 25×203 mm, length 14 cm.
- 2 leg parts 25×152 mm, length 61 cm.
- 2 blanks 51x152 mm, 59.1 cm each.
- 1 leg element 51x203 mm, length 132.1 cm.
- 4 strips 25x152 mm each 143.5 cm.
- 2 blanks 25x152 mm, 143.5 cm long. Both ends of each strip are cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
- 2 tabletop elements 25x152 mm, length 115.6 cm. Both ends of the parts are cut at an angle of 45 degrees.
- 2 blanks 25x152 mm, 87.6 cm each. Both ends are beveled at an angle of 45 degrees.
- Cut strips of about 50x50 mm for fastening (along the perimeter) the tabletop boards.
Description of work
- Start assembling the table from the base of the leg. For the short part of the lower cross-shaped support, connect the base parts 51 mm thick, 46 and 47 cm long so that the bevels in both merge into one smooth one, and the opposite rectangular cuts line up in one line. Use nails and glue in your work. This combination will make the structure stronger. Protruding glue residues must be removed with a damp sponge, not allowing them to dry out or be absorbed into the wood. The product will turn out neat, the finishing coating will lie in an even, uniform layer.
- In the same way, using glue and nails, place a piece 41 cm long (25 mm thick) on top.
- From the smooth bevel side at the bottom of the base, attach a piece 25 mm thick, 13.3 cm long, placing it as shown in the image below.
- Assemble another similar part.
- Attach the base pieces to the vertical posts. At the same time, step back 5 mm from the bottom edge of the vertical bar with a total length of 70.5 cm, as well as the same distance from the left and right edges. Use pocket screws and glue to make connections.
- Make a second similar design in the same way.
- Now assemble both parts of the 14 cm long elements together. Use pocket screws and glue.
- Proceed to assemble the solid part of the cross, which will be the base of the leg. Alternately connect the parts 99.4 cm with 109.5 cm using nails and glue. Then lower, maintaining symmetry, install 111.8 cm. Finally, along the edges of the leg part. To do everything correctly, carefully look at the image below.
- Use a tape measure to find the center of the resulting solid piece of cross. Mark it with a pencil.
- Place the one-piece cross piece between the two uprights that held the half pieces together. The centers of the fragments must completely coincide when connected. Use nails (or screws) and glue to secure the elements. We recommend making the connection through the bottom of the structure, turning the leg over.
- Form the leg by fitting the missing 14x61cm pieces into the openings. Use nails and glue to secure the boards.
- From a single plank of 132.1 cm and two of 59.1 cm, assemble a cross, which will be the basis for installing the tabletop. Use pocket screws and glue.
- Attach the resulting cross-underframe to the upper part of the base-leg. Make sure that the centers of the parts match exactly.
- Assemble the tabletop from the prepared planks. Before starting work, make sure that the side parts are aligned as much as possible so that all parts fit snugly. After connecting the elements with nails and glue, secure the panel with clamps.
- Align the edges of the tabletop.
- To make the stacked tabletop stronger and maintain its integrity for a long time, nail boards of the appropriate length on the back side along the entire edge. File the edges of the fastening boards.
- Determine the center of the tabletop. Install the tabletop onto the cross-base using nails and glue.
- Add four support strips between the cross-base and the leg using nails and glue. Then, accordingly, between the leg and the cross-base. If you see that the prepared bevel does not fit tightly to the part, you can correct it.
Finally, finishing work should be done.
- Fill uneven areas and holes in the wood with wood filler. Leave the product to allow the putty to dry completely.
- Sand the surface of the tabletop and base. Eliminate excess filler, unevenness, and burrs. Wipe off the dust.
- Cover the wood with stain. It will make the material resistant to external influences, emphasize the wood grain, and give it a beautiful dark shade. If you would like the piece of furniture to be a darker color, apply another coat after the stain has dried.
- Coat the product with varnish. Any coating is carried out only on a completely dry surface.
Size of kitchen and table. How to combine?
A round table fits into any size room.
The main thing is to choose the right size of the countertop.
A small round table can be placed in a small kitchen designed for two or three people.
A large table will fit perfectly into the living room, possibly connected to the dining room.
At such a table you can not only have lunch, but also organize gatherings with a large number of guests.
According to experienced designers, a round table is best installed in a square-sized room.
Place it in the middle. Then the use of the space will be optimally economical and functional.
Optimal table sizes
The dining table has a characteristic length, width and height. When choosing this data, they are guided by the number of people living. Adding two spare seats per guest gives the final figure. It is important for owners who prefer large companies to take this point into account when calculating.
Please note that the optimal boundaries of personal space that provides comfort are considered to be 60 cm per person. So, a dining table for three people corresponds to a perimeter of 300 cm.
If it stands against a wall, its size should increase. The length of the shortest side is 65–70 cm, so that one person can easily fit here. The remaining indicators must be more than 120 cm. Such kitchen structures are designed for a height of 75 cm and above (indicators correspond to the average height of a person).
For your information! Tall people require custom-sized furniture with a height of 80 cm or more. In this case, short people get more space in the dining area, which means they will be very comfortable here.
Choosing the right round table size
The size depends on the number of seats.
For two, a table no larger than 60 cm in diameter is ideal. It is convenient to place it in a tiny kitchen.
True, putting a large number of dishes for lunch is very problematic. Therefore, even if your family consists of a small number of people, choose a large table, because guests may unexpectedly come to you.
The diameter of the round table 90-120 cm can accommodate up to 4 people, 120-140 cm - 6 guests, 140-180 cm - up to 12 members of the company gathered for lunch.
Medium-sized tables with 5-6 seats look best.
They should have one stable leg, quite wide in diameter. For example, a round wooden table with a carved support in the middle of the tabletop.
A large table that can accommodate 10-12 guests should have strong support. But they look bulky. Suitable for country houses or apartments with an area of at least 150-200 sq.m.
Putting such a tabletop on 4 legs means adding more bulk to it and depriving it of the main advantage - large legroom under the dining table. There should be plenty of space for people to move around this type of dining area.
Small round tables with chrome steel legs fit perfectly into small kitchens. It is the legs that emphasize the fragility and tenderness of the table. It visually makes the room larger and more spacious.
Thus, when choosing a round table, be guided by the size of the room.
For spacious houses and apartments, massive tables with wide carved legs or cabinets under the tabletop are suitable.
And for small kitchens - high-tech plastic or metal tables.
What tables on one leg look like in a kitchen interior. Table shapes
The rectangular shape of the model is perhaps the most common and considered the most practical in use. Easily fits into the interior and is made from any materials. The disadvantages include the presence of sharp corners and a beaten shape, but this can be easily eliminated through design solutions.
Square or rectangular models can be placed opposite the set; if there is sufficient footage in the kitchen, they can be placed in the center of the room.
Round tables are one of the most common shapes for single support tables. Please note that it is important to combine the size of the table with the space of the dining room. In rooms with sufficient dimensions, this model will be a wonderful decoration. Usually placed in the center of the dining room.
This form implies the presence of chairs with high backs located around the table.
Oval tables have elongated, laconic lines and have mixed properties of rectangular and round tables. Pros - there are no sharp corners, it becomes possible to place it against the wall, it smoothes out the sharpness of the interior and brings a touch of calm.
Such modifications are good for interiors with a non-standard layout.
Other shapes are square, less often triangular. Square is a luxurious shape for a dining room, but very non-compact. This model, without compromising comfort, can accommodate a maximum of four people. A large table looks impressive and can accommodate more people, but it will also require additional kitchen space.
A good solution would be a sliding model that transforms a square into a rectangular table.
Additional Information. Round and oval tables have the following advantages: guaranteed safety due to the absence of sharp corners. A rounded tabletop always looks unusual, elegant and interesting. The roundness of the design and presence makes the product compact to accommodate seated people. A round table has one significant advantage - dishes with food can be placed in the center, and they are equidistant from those sitting, as well as those sitting from each other, which creates comfortable and cozy communication.
This dining area looks rich and harmonious.
Dimensional characteristics of round tables
Designers are constantly finding new solutions and ideas to increase the functionality of kitchen furniture.
Their mission is to help housewives make the most of space while having an elegant and beautiful kitchen. There were also several ideas for round tables.
Extendable round table
Consists of 3 parts. One is hidden at the bottom and extends out when the other 2 parts are folded out to the sides, filling the middle.
When purchasing, pay attention to the operation of the sliding table mechanism. It should be disassembled and assembled easily, forming a flat surface, without overlapping parts.
Table transformer
A type of extendable table that has a different operating mechanism. There are two types of transformers: a table-book and one that extends in opposite directions.
The book table has been known to everyone since Soviet times. They are used for parties when receiving a large number of guests.
The sliding parts are installed on additional legs, which are statically attached to the tabletop from below.
Advantages of a table-book:
- Ease of use;
- Simple mechanism;
- Possibility of obtaining a large space to accommodate 8-10 people.
Disadvantages of a table-book: Additional tabletops make it difficult to sit when folded.
A transformer with a sliding tabletop in opposite directions is designed in such a way that the additional tabletop is hidden under the main one. She moves to the other side.
The result is an oval-shaped dining surface. The central zone is not filled separately as in a book-table.
Advantages:
- Takes up minimal space;
- Moving apart, it increases in diameter by 2-3 times;
- Ease of use.
Flaws:
- High price;
- When unfolded, it takes up a lot of space. In small rooms it interferes with the passage and movement of people.
It is beneficial to use any type of extendable table because it is very functional. You save money because you buy a dining table for every day and furniture for dining with guests at the same time.
Features of application
You can fit a semicircular table into almost any kitchen interior - even with graphic styles like constructivism or high-tech, it can be easily combined with the help of matching materials, colors or textures. Since the shape of the tabletop consists of simple and at the same time soft lines, dissonance will not arise in the case of more frivolous trends: shabby chic, romanticism, Tiffany. Here the shape and decor of the legs are of greater importance.
From a practical point of view, a semicircular table in the kitchen is also very useful. In addition to the fact that it “uses” free space more economically, there are many benefits from a trimmed circle. This can be a full-fledged table for a family dinner, the center of a coffee group in a recreation area, or a compact console tabletop on a landscaped balcony. Interesting models of roll-out semicircular tables, which for the time being are hidden under the work surface or a wide window sill. If necessary, furniture on wheels easily moves out and can be installed anywhere in the kitchen.
Semicircular bar counters look great. They can be either an independent piece of furniture or an unusual continuation of a single line of furniture. In both cases, the design of the radial base attracts attention in kitchen design. As a result, the slightly tired counter turns into an original decoration for a studio apartment or a spacious dining room, effectively dividing a large room into separate zones.
If there is a serious shortage of square meters, a tabletop of small width can simply be mounted in a cantilever on the kitchen wall, placing chairs against it. Of course, there is not much space at such a table, but a couple of people can dine comfortably. It is also worth considering the option of placing a semicircular table against the window sill or working surface of the main set. This increases the usable area and saves a lot of free space.
And, of course, it is impossible to do without a stable table in the shape of a semicircle if the builders decide to decorate the kitchen in your house with a bay window. For this appendix, choosing suitable and ergonomic furniture is always very difficult, but a custom table gracefully solves this problem. You can match it with original kitchen sofas or “double” chairs. They will flow around the tabletop, providing seated people with maximum comfort.
Materials for making round tables
The technology for manufacturing dining tables with different designs does not stand still. About 8 types of material are used for their production.
Wooden tables
Made from solid pine, maple, birch, oak, cedar.
The dining area, made of wood, creates simplicity and coziness in the kitchen.
The advantages of wooden furniture are environmental friendliness, convenience, and safety.
Disadvantages: difficulty of care. It is necessary to protect wooden furniture from moisture and aggressive kitchen environments.
Advice! When buying a wooden table, keep in mind that such material absorbs moisture and permanent stains from colored products remain on it. For example, borscht or pomegranate juice.
MDF table
It is made from sawdust, industrial waste, connected with special glue.
They have an attractive appearance and an affordable price, but at the same time they are short-lived and fragile.
Tables made of stone, marble, ceramics
They are used more often on the street, in country houses, because they are massive and bulky.
They have a high price, but at the same time they have an attractive appearance, which is easy to combine with kitchen furniture in color and design.
The worktop is usually made of identical material.
Metal tables
Non-standard material for the manufacture of home furniture. Rarely used for classic kitchen design styles. But such material is practical and durable.
Glass tables
A popular material for countertops of any size and style.
Due to the fragility of glass, more durable elements are added to the table model: a metal frame, a plastic rim, etc.
The beauty and unusualness of the glass table is difficult not to notice by any guest.
Dining areas with this model add romance and tenderness to the kitchen or living room.
A glass table allows light to pass through and makes the space visually larger.
Caring for a glass table is painstaking and daily. Any drips or stains are noticeable on it.
It is necessary to purchase special products for processing and washing it.
It is easy to leave scratches on it with cutlery, and it is impossible to eliminate such a defect.
It is not safe to use a glass table in a home with many small children.
Plastic tables
Most of us associate such tables with country houses or trips to nature. But this is a mistaken opinion. You can also use plastic kitchen tables in your apartment.
They have a lot of advantages. It is simple and easy to use. They are easy to wash and move, since the plastic table is very light.
The price of plastic tables remains in the economy segment; it is easy to choose chairs of different colors and shapes for them.
It is better to combine such furniture with plastic sets or other kitchen design elements. A plastic table looks bad next to wooden chairs and cabinets.
Materials used
The material from which the table is made affects the period of its use and the degree of difficulty of caring for it. The aesthetic appearance and price of the model also depend on it. Tabletops are made of wood, chipboard, glass, plastic, and the support most often is metal, wood, less often stone or glass.
Let's consider several options for materials for the countertop:
- Chipboard and MDF covered with laminate. Such a tabletop is not afraid of temperature changes and moderate mechanical pressure. However, you cannot put anything hot on it - the laminate will deteriorate. High humidity also damages the coating. Sliding or folding tabletops are made from chipboard, which is convenient for the kitchen. MDF coating is an environmentally friendly material: it contains no formaldehyde. Tables made of materials are affordable and come in a variety of shapes and colors.
- Plastic . Both tabletops and entire structures, including supports, are made from it. This table will fit perfectly into a modern interior. If treated with care, it will last a long time, although a lot depends on the quality of the plastic. The one-piece table made of plastic is lightweight and maneuverable, and is available in different colors and configurations.
- Glass . The glass countertop in the design of a small kitchen does not hide the space and looks elegant. It transmits light and seems weightless. Tabletops are also produced from frosted and colored glass. The support for them is made of metal or wood. Among the disadvantages are the fragility of glass and the need for regular care of the surface, since any stains and fingerprints are visible on it.
- Tree. Furniture made from this natural material remains in demand at all times. Only the tabletop or all the structural parts can be made of wood. This version of a kitchen table on one leg will be expensive, but its qualities are significant: strength and durability, resistance to temperature changes, moisture, mechanical damage, aesthetic value, and environmental friendliness.
This table is ideal for classic interiors, will fit into country styles, and will be appropriate in a loft.
Choice of color and model
The table in the kitchen is the main element of the dining area. Comfort, convenience and aesthetics are its important qualities. To create a cozy atmosphere, you should choose your table carefully.
Among the models on one support there are square, round and oval tables. Rectangular is convenient in small kitchens, oval or round - where space is not limited to a few meters.
Both are produced in a sliding version. This feature is useful when there are often a lot of people around the table. An extendable table on one leg is an excellent solution for both small and spacious kitchens.
The size of the kitchen space also influences the choice of countertop color:
- large rooms allow you to play with dark colors in all their manifestations: from black to ashy;
- For small rooms, light shades are suitable: white, cream, beige, transparent.
For your information . In addition to standard models, there are many unusual designs on sale, even extravagant ones. When choosing such a model, you should carefully consider how well it will fit into the overall context of the kitchen.
Selecting chairs for a round table
When choosing chairs for a round table, pay attention to the shape, size and material of the seats.
The first rule to follow is matching the shape. For a round table, choose round-shaped chairs.
The legs of the table and chairs should be approximately the same size. You cannot place a chair with four thick wooden legs on a thin chrome support at the table.
If you are a supporter of fashion trends in design and interior design, you will definitely like the option of a single table and chairs design. The seats slide out from the niches at the bottom of the table during lunch, and after eating they slide back in, forming a single ensemble with the table.
For people who like to experiment, you can use a mix of chairs. Buy chairs of the same shape, but different colors. Each family member chooses a seat according to their mood and desire.
Combining furniture from different materials is not always bad or ugly. For example, wooden chairs go well with plastic, stone, marble tables and vice versa. But using bulky “royal” wooden seats in high-tech, modern style is ridiculous and absurd.
Tulip chairs are perfect for a modern kitchen. They are designed for small round tables and a height of no more than 80 cm. Such models are often made of plastic, so they are suitable for plastic and wooden tables.
Glass chairs can only be combined with a glass table of any size. They also expand the space. They make the interior original and fresh.
Leather chairs will create an atmosphere of well-being and self-confidence.
Rattan chairs have become a new fashion trend. They can be placed on a wooden or plastic table. They look especially cozy with a seat cushion.
Chairs with a metal frame will fit any tabletop. A metal leg can serve as a support for the table.
A bulky round table requires massive seats with armrests and soft upholstery. This option is suitable for a spacious living room to accommodate a large number of people.
Choosing a table with a solid base
In addition to the shape of the tabletop, you need to pay attention to the leg, since the durability of the structure and its safety will depend on its strength. The stability and proportionality of the parts is one of the indicators of the quality of the table. A heavy tabletop must have a support made of an appropriate material - wood, metal or stone. If the leg is metal, make sure it is not aluminum.
Lightweight plastic tabletops can have a leg made of the same material or an aluminum support. For folding structures, it is important to have a spare leg, which is attached to maintain balance.
Important ! If there are children in the house, it is better not to purchase a structure with one leg. There is a possibility that during the games the balance will be disrupted. The risk of injury increases if the table is set and contains hot food.
What table color will suit your interior?
Popular shades of tables in kitchens are white and all variants of pastel colors. This color scheme always refreshes the interior.
A white dining area can easily be contrasted with dark furniture and high-tech appliances.
If you want to focus attention on the table and chairs in the kitchen, use the stop-color technique. The juxtaposition of two colors in a room draws a person's eye to each design element.
For example, perfect white furniture on one side of the room and a blue-black table with white chairs.
Most often, housewives choose white for the kitchen table. Delicate and clean, white gives the kitchen freshness and expands the space.
The black table has its advantages. You can create a modern style with it. It looks original in a modern, high-tech kitchen.
For lovers of classics and aristocracy, black is also suitable. It looks modest and minimizes space.
Natural colors of kitchen furniture give the room naturalness, naturalness, a feeling of comfort and safety.
Important! Light shades are more durable than dark shades. Scratches and other mechanical damage will be less noticeable on them.
Classic table materials
Wood is one of the most versatile materials that suits absolutely any type of room and interior style.
The most common types of wood species are the following:
- oak;
- ash;
- beech.
Tables made from these materials will look best in an interior designed in a rustic and classic style. They will look great in a Provence style room. However, you should not think that they will not suit such a current trend of design thought as high-tech. It all depends on the decor and the right accessories. The disadvantage of these types of wood, such as low wear resistance, is more than compensated for if you take care and cover the table with a special protective compound.
Oak table in the center of a classic living room
At the same time, experts recommend giving preference to oak. It will emphasize the elite status of your premises. But this is not its main advantage. Such tables are characterized by increased strength and reliability. Therefore, you can safely purchase tabletops with one leg. The color palette of such models is varied, so you can easily choose the one that is most suitable for you. Thus, oak tables can boast a rich range of colors ranging from delicate golden to dark burgundy. But models in white look especially beautiful. In this case, bleached oak is used. Oak furniture has, perhaps, only one drawback - its high cost.
Dark golden oak round table on one leg
Malaysia specializes in the manufacture of wooden tables, so pay attention to models from this country. Round wooden dining tables on one leg made in Malaysia are valued all over the world.
Other types of wooden tables
Another good option for table material is walnut. This material has a unique structure and a high degree of strength. Such tables, as a rule, do not crack. However, walnut furniture has a significant drawback - it is excessively heavy.

Advice: such models are preferred by representatives of bohemia and the creative intelligentsia, so if you want to create the appropriate style in your apartment, then a walnut table is an excellent option.
A material such as linden is famous for its plasticity. It is well processed. Therefore, accessories for tables are often made from linden. However, when choosing this material, keep in mind that it is quite susceptible to insects and other unpleasant living creatures. Therefore, take care of purchasing high-quality protective compounds. A type of wood such as wenge is also very popular. However, such a table is expensive, and not every specialist will be able to work with this material.

Materials imitating wood
If you want to save money, you can consider the option of veneered chipboard or MDF. However, such models will be less environmentally friendly. However, in appearance they will be almost identical to their more expensive wooden counterparts. Another alternative to wood is laminated chipboard or MDF. Such models are economical and come in a wide variety of colors.
Another option that imitates natural wood is verzalite. This material is made from pressed wood fibers with a polymer resin binder. It looks like chipboard. However, in terms of its performance characteristics it is closer to artificial stone. This material is convenient to use. Another advantage is its immunity to ultraviolet radiation and mechanical stress.

Decor options for a round wooden kitchen table
A round table is simply created to be decorated with a tablecloth. Although tables made of natural wood are already a decoration in themselves. However, on holidays, I especially want to transform the appearance of the table and make it more solemn.
Tip: get several tablecloths for a round table at once for different occasions - everyday, festive... You will never get bored with your kitchen or other room. As an everyday option, you can use bright napkins that are placed under plates.
Round white wooden tables on one leg look especially chic. They do not need additional decoration. However, their natural beauty can be emphasized with contrasting accessories. For example, you can place an elegant napkin stand and a small flowerpot on such a table. Ideally, these accessories will be designed in a bright color palette that will complement the white table.

Features of choosing a design and color palette
The main rule that should be followed when choosing a table model is optimal compatibility with the design of the furniture set. In addition, the table must fit into the overall concept of the interior. Both stylistic and color. Moreover, if the style and color do not match, then they should be harmoniously combined. For example, recently the eclectic style, which combines several directions of design thought, has become increasingly popular. In this case, some of the objects in the room can be designed in one style, and others in a contrasting style. So, it is interesting to combine, for example, classic and modern.
Contrasting kitchen design: dark wenge table, bright pillows, light walls and kitchen furniture
When choosing table decor, special attention is paid to details. First of all, the legs. Designs on one leg look especially elegant. Special chic - carved or curved options. They are perfect for a room designed in Provence, classic or shabby chic style. An interesting design solution is rattan or forged legs.
It is better to choose a folding table for a round wooden table on one leg. In this case, you will significantly save space and, if necessary, can accommodate all guests.
At the same time, tables on one leg are not only attractive, but also comfortable. It is more comfortable to sit at them, as the space under the table increases. And it will be more convenient to get up from such a table. Fortunately, you can buy a round wooden table on one leg in almost any relevant store.

Expert advice
Galina Perevodnova is an architect, interior design expert at the MebelVia online hypermarket.
The minimum length-to-width ratio of a table suitable for a comfortable meal is 60 x 40 cm. However, it is better to provide additional space in the center to place a large salad bowl, tureen, and gravy boats. Therefore, the optimal width for a dining table is approximately 80-85 cm.
A rectangular table with a height of 75 cm, a width of 80 cm and a length of 100-120 cm is considered standard, at which 4 people can comfortably fit.
There is a relationship between the size of countertops and the capacity of dining tables. So, a model measuring 150 x 90 cm can accommodate 4-6 people, 200 x 110 cm – up to 8 people, 260 x 110 cm – up to 10 people.
For greatest convenience and space saving, you can choose a folding or sliding design, which allows you to change the width and length of the tabletop. Even the height of transforming tables changes. An extendable table can transform from a standard one for 2-4 people into a full-fledged dining table with a tabletop up to 3 meters long. In addition, recently designers have been coming up with tables that can be compactly removed, as well as models that perform the functions of other interior items, for example, becoming a mirror or a hanging shelf.
When choosing a table, it is necessary to take into account the area of the kitchen, because a dining table is convenient to use only if the chairs can be moved away without problems, leaving a passage between the dining group and other furniture. The optimal distance is within 100 cm.
A folding table is an ideal solution for a small kitchen. In normal times, it takes up minimal space, and when guests arrive, it can always be unfolded. Most often, wood, glass, chipboard, MDF, plywood or plastic are used to make folding tables.
A glass table is a great option for small spaces, as it gives the kitchen airiness and weightlessness.
The most compact option is a small square table: for daily lunches for a family of 4 people, a square measuring 90 x 90 cm is enough.
For a round dining table the standard is:
- a table with a diameter of 110 cm can accommodate no more than 4 people;
- 130 cm – 6 people;
- 150 cm – 8 people;
- 170 cm – up to 10 people.
To save space, a round table is placed in a corner and placed closer to the wall.
Oval designs can be called practical - they look more original than rectangular ones, and are more convenient to use than round ones.
While fully maintaining the usable area, the oval tabletop has no sharp corners, which ensures safety, which is important, for example, in families with small children. However, if the model is longer than one and a half meters, it will take up a lot of free space.
