Master class for secondary school students “Mosaic from natural material “Castle”

Autumn is a fertile period for harvesting fruits and vegetables. But not only, because only in this season can you find such a quantity and variety of natural material.

Children from an early age love to collect all sorts of finds on the ground and you can use them, teaching children that any object can be useful for creating crafts from natural materials on the theme of autumn. You never know what you'll get this time. After all, the various shapes and sizes of natural materials can inspire everyone.

Even while walking, you and your child can imagine what you can do with a newly found pine cone, acorn or leaves. Each plant and its fruit are unique in their own way. And another advantage of natural material is that it is environmentally friendly.

Natural material for crafts: what to collect

Nature is ready to bestow us with its fruits, but do not forget that we need to take care of it. Therefore, try to collect only what is already on the ground. Natural material can be collected at any time of the year, although there is much more of it in the fall.

In summer and spring we can collect flowers, leaves, grass and birch bark. Also in the summer, while relaxing at the sea, you can collect shells and pebbles. Autumn will give us nuts, acorns, cones, seeds, straw, pine needles.

Let's consider the main types of natural materials that will be useful to us for creating crafts on the Golden Autumn theme.

  • 1. Cones can be pine or spruce. You can find open or unopened buds, you can use any. But remember that in the heat the cone may open. If you collect buds from damp soil, it will stay fresh longer.
  • 2. Needles are also used for crafts. It perfectly imitates trees on appliques or is used as needles for making a hedgehog.
  • 3. Seeds of plants and trees are most often collected in the fall. This material can be used on applications and crafts. The seeds produce eyes and other body parts to depict animals.
  • 4. Moss will keep for quite a long time and will look beautiful as grass.
  • 5. The bark of the tree is varnished and serves as a kind of building material. You can use it to build houses and other structures to create compositions.
  • 6. Tree branches are also used for crafts.
  • 7. Bird feathers serve as a beautiful decorative element.
  • 8. Nuts, acorns and chestnuts. This is perhaps, along with pine cones, the most popular material for crafts. They come in different shapes, which makes it possible to come up with different compositions. Chestnut and nut shells are used to create miniatures.
  • 9. Berries and fruits. A wonderful accent to your craft can be rowan or viburnum berries, as well as the fruits of a decorative pumpkin.
  • 10. Straw and ears of wheat can also decorate your work.
  • 11. Children love to collect shells and stones on vacation by the sea or river. This material is also perfect for crafts. They must be thoroughly washed and dried before use.

Crafts made from nuts

Interesting crafts can be created from nuts. Any nuts and their shells are suitable for work.

Walnuts are always in demand for crafts. You can make small boats from shells. It is enough to secure a mast with a sail in the middle of the shell half. It is not difficult to make funny little mice from such halves. It is enough to glue the ears, tail, eyes and nose.

Whole walnuts, painted in different colors, can decorate a New Year tree and become an original decorative element.

Pine nuts are easy to work with. They are not very hard and can be easily pierced with an awl. Excellent for imitating animal paws, they stick well. They can be used in wall panels.

Hazelnuts are quite hard and difficult to pierce. For this reason, they are used entirely in crafts.

Hazelnuts can be used to decorate a photo frame, decorate a mirror, or use them as a complement to various interior decorations or toy elements.

Pistachios are also suitable for various crafts. The shape of their shell resembles the petals of a flower.

Children's crafts made from natural materials on the theme of Golden Autumn

The time has come for competitions and exhibitions of crafts made from natural materials in kindergartens. After a walk in the park, you will replenish your collection of cones, leaves and acorns. Many crafts can be difficult for young children, so think in advance about what your child can handle, even with your help.

After all, working on a craft should bring not only results, but also pleasure for the baby.

Cardboard and plasticine will also help you with this. Together you can offer your child many options for crafts.

DIY insects from natural materials

To make such a collection of insects, you can use everything that you collected in the park - chestnuts, acorns, maple seeds, twigs, etc.

Children love to make all kinds of animals, and chestnuts are an excellent material in this regard. Their shape makes them ideal for making the torso and head.

If you find an oak tree in the park, then look around. September and October are a fertile period for collecting a whole bunch of acorns.

How to make a boat out of acorns

We will need:

  • Acorns
  • Needle
  • A thread
  • Scissors
  • Oak leaves
  • Toothpick
  • Birch bark

1. Install the mast. Pierce a large acorn on the side with a needle. Insert a toothpick.

2. Take the acorn lid, half the lid and the lid with the stalk

3. Attach half of the lid to the wide part of the acorn. This is how we will make the stern of the ship. Attach the lid to the narrow part of the acorn. The remaining lid will become a stand. We attach it to the side of the acorn.

4. Pierce an oak leaf and put it on the mast of the ship. The sail will be ready.

5. We make the mast fastening from thread. It must be attached to the stern. Wrap around the mast and tie to the bow of the ship. Attach a flag to the top of the mast and send the ships sailing.

You can create a whole collection of ships

Other variants of animals can be created from acorns

And also a beautiful tea set

Pine cones are ideal for autumn crafts in the kindergarten. At the beginning of autumn, you can find a huge number of them and use them to create animals, also using plasticine

A simple but fun craft made from a pine cone: a crocodile. For it you will need green plasticine and green paint to paint the pine cone

To make a swan from a cone and plasticine, you will need white, black and red plasticine, a cone and a piece of cotton wool.

Roll out a white strip of plasticine about 5 cm to make the swan's neck. Bend it into an S shape.

We attach the strip to the thick side of the cone.

Place a piece of black plasticine on the other end of the cone and make a sharp angle on top.

Create a beak from red plasticine.

He makes a swan's tail and wings from cotton wool.

Big bear

To make a bear, you will need a large pine cone for the body and several small ones for the head and paws. Also don't forget to stock up on twine.

Crafts made from natural materials, grade 1

Autumn begins for schoolchildren with the creation of a variety of crafts. Therefore, collecting natural material on a walk can greatly simplify the task. Also, don't rush to throw away nut shells. It makes interesting miniatures that can become either a separate work or an addition.

To make interesting crafts, you will need paint: gray for mice and bunnies, black and white for penguins, green for turtles.

You can also create fun crafts using felt or colored paper. You can get boats, mice, and fruits

This may seem too simple for a competition, so consider making a hedgehog. It can be made in different ways, but collect a lot of pine cones in advance.

By painting simple pine cones, you can make unusual crafts for school.

Chestnuts and plasticine always make funny animals

Acorns are also not inferior to cones and chestnuts in terms of the number of interesting crafts

Autumn crafts made from natural materials, grade 3

At this age, children are still interested in making appliqués, but they will also be happy to move on to more complex work, especially if this is required for a school crafts competition.

Crafts made from natural materials: 6th grade

From the cones you can make a wonderful bouquet of daisies that will last a long time, unlike fresh flowers.

We will need:

  • Cones
  • Wooden skewers
  • Glue
  • Green tape
  • Dye

Separate the top scales from the cones and use scissors to trim off anything you don’t like about the core of the cone.

Paint the cones with white paint and the middle with yellow

Let the cones dry, and poke holes with an awl, coat the edge of the skewer with glue and insert it into the cone.

Wrap the skewer with green tape or tape

If you paint the pine cones with a different color, you will get completely different flowers made from natural material.

DIY flowers made from natural material

Flowers from autumn leaves can be made in several ways. These can be fresh leaves or pre-dried ones, you can also use maple leaves (they make beautiful roses), but you can make a beautiful flower from other leaves.

We will need:

  • Leaves
  • Hot glue
  • Wire
  • Twine
  • Branches
  • Double sided tape

Pierce the edge of the leaf with wire. We twist the sheet and glue a piece of double-sided tape to it. Next we glue the petals to the tape in layers.

Thanks to the tape, the flower looks lush, but its stem is not voluminous.

Beautiful flowers are obtained from rowan leaves

Crafts made from natural materials on a marine theme

School starts immediately after the summer holidays, so it’s not surprising that children want to extend their seaside holiday and make crafts on a sea theme.

Leaf Crafts

Applications

You can make applications on various themes from beautiful autumn leaves. Such crafts are especially interesting for children. From the leaves of different trees you can collect different insects, birds with bushy tails, an elephant or a hedgehog on a sheet of paper. Leaves can be used to complement the design, resulting in very original panels.

Roses from leaves

It's easy to make beautiful roses with your own hands from gorgeous maple leaves. To work, you need fresh maple leaves; dry ones are not suitable.

The leaf must be folded in half and rolled into a roll; it will be the center of the rose. The roll is placed in the middle of a large sheet, the edges of the sheet are folded outward, like rose petals, and the roll is wrapped in this sheet. Then another large sheet is added in the same way. Everything is fastened together with threads. The rose is ready.

These “maple” roses can be used to make an autumn bouquet or use them in various compositions. The color of autumn maple leaves is so diverse that it allows you to make very beautiful bouquets.

Crafts made from mineral materials

Minerals include sand, various stones, and shells. These natural materials do not require special care and storage. It is advisable that they fall into the hands of children in their pure form.

Crafts made from stones

It is most convenient to use pebbles. It is suitable for painting. Acrylic paints and enamels fit well on it. You can draw insects or unusual houses, creating a whole fairy-tale city.

Use of shells

Collecting beautiful shells on the shore is a pleasure. Storing them is also very easy. But they require very careful preparation. They may contain pieces of shellfish. Over time, they will rot and emit an unpleasant odor. To avoid this, boil the shells for 3-4 minutes, then clean them with a brush, such as a toothbrush. Then they are dried and stored or immediately used for crafts. You can treat it with a bleach solution, diluting it half with water. Leave for 30 minutes, clean with a brush. You can buy ready-made and processed shells of different sizes and shapes in the store.

Shells stick together well with plasticine and glue. It is difficult to drill holes in them, they can crack; first you need to cover the future hole with paper tape. A thin shell should have a small hole.

Using plasticine, children can turn shells into cute animals. Decorate photo frames and interior items that will look original and please the eye.
