Many people immediately associate a bachelor pad with eternal chaos and large piles of dust. However, this was the case decades ago, but now everything is changing.
Modern men strive to make their home beautiful and comfortable. Fortunately, now you can choose many styles that will help create an individuality for your apartment.
What is a bachelor apartment?
Associations immediately arise with a dirty and uncleaned apartment in which a man lives. This used to be the case, but now everything has changed. The design of a bachelor apartment now has several features:
Individualism. As a rule, one man lives in such an apartment. The apartment will entirely reflect all the interests and hobbies of this man.
Convenience. In an apartment where a man lives alone, any design ideas can be turned into reality. You can sacrifice entire rooms. You can install a jacuzzi or pool table in the bedroom, kitchen or any other room.
Minimum decor. A bachelor pad doesn't need a lot of decorations. Pretentious accessories have no place here. Fresh flowers are simply inappropriate in such a house.
Organized. Of course, in the past there was often complete chaos in bachelor apartments, but those days are gone. Now the apartment must be clean. It allocates a certain space where you can store clothes.
Correct zoning and space planning in a bachelor apartment
Planning determines not only how comfortable the owner or his guests will feel, but also how comfortable the apartment will be in everyday living conditions. Even a one-room apartment for a bachelor in a design project can be very spacious and cozy.
For a one-room apartment, the best solution would be to combine the kitchen, dining room and living room in one space
Zoning and layout in the bedroom
For normal relaxation, the bedroom should be made in soft colors that will not irritate the eye and verbally influence the subconscious. If this is not a studio apartment, then you should take care of a good double bed. The right decision would be to choose a closet to place your personal belongings.
Spacious bedroom divided into sleeping and working areas by a steel partition
Zoning and layout in the living room
The living room should definitely have a place where you can sit with a group and be alone. By zoning the room, you can define a corner for relaxing with soft armchairs, for talking and having fun with a coffee table and sofa, for playing games with a large TV and a computer console.
You can separate the living room from the kitchen using a tandem sofa/bar counter. It is advisable to choose a folding sofa in case guests wish to stay overnight
Depending on the design, the room can be combined with a kitchen. Then it would be very appropriate to use a massive bar counter that will visually separate these two objects.
Zoning and layout in the kitchen
The kitchen is the place where the day begins and ends. A bachelor should have multifunctional appliances that will make cooking easier. Pragmatic arrangement of cabinets, washbasin, table. There should be simplicity and versatility.
The kitchen is dominated by glossy and mirror surfaces, large household appliances are built into the cabinets
Zoning and layout in the hallway
A bachelor is not always alone. Any hallway should accommodate many guests arriving at the same time. A few small built-in wardrobes for shoes and outerwear will be enough.
To decorate a small hallway, you should choose light shades, and brickwork will help add brutality to the interior.
Brutalism
The style is distinguished by its simplicity. Such bachelor apartments are characterized by a lack of decoration. Instead of finishing, there are concrete surfaces here.
Brutalism is a style that makes a man’s life as comfortable as possible. Each room has its own purpose. All interior details are carefully thought out. They simply get rid of everything unnecessary.
Bright colors are not used in the rooms. You should stick to black and white.
Rough materials are used for the interior of a bachelor's apartment. Metal or reinforced concrete is perfect. The ceiling should be decorated with plasterboard. The light source can be sunlight or artificial lighting.
Furniture is placed against the walls to free up the center of the room.
Finishing
Practical flooring
Interior design begins with decoration. In a bachelor's apartment, the main requirements are practicality and ease of maintenance. For example, a board made of natural wood is difficult to maintain and requires maintaining a certain level of humidity. Therefore, it is better to put porcelain stoneware, laminate, or self-leveling floors on the floor.
Matching wall finishes
The design of the walls depends on the chosen style: it can be decorative plaster, wallpaper with a simple pattern or plain, wall panels of various types (imitating wood, metal or stone), decorative brick. It is also important to provide for the possibility of maintaining these coatings.

Loft
A large number of walls are removed in the apartment to create more space. The walls that separate the bathroom and bedroom should be left. Other rooms should become a single whole. As for the windows, they should be large, but without curtains.
Brickwork and protruding pipes from the walls are perfect for direction.
A loft is the intersection of old and new, so you can safely purchase modern equipment. You can buy any furniture, as long as it is comfortable.
Situation
Stepan Bugaev: A bachelor’s apartment is distinguished by things that reflect the personality of the owner. Everything that cannot be afforded in family life can be here. Arranging such an apartment is exactly the opportunity to realize all your fantasies and dreams. Maximum space and style are subject to the interests and hobbies of one person. Only here you can find a tennis table, a super-powerful audio system, a huge screen with a projector, or a half-disassembled motorcycle. You shouldn’t limit yourself in your wishes: even a pole, if you need it, won’t bother anyone. The design may be impractical and non-functional, because this is the only type of apartment where you can afford it.
A particularly interesting place is the kitchen - a kind of untouched virgin soil. There should be only what is needed to prepare a wonderful breakfast: a frying pan, a kettle, a coffee pot and a corkscrew in the evening.
Alexander Kolganov: If you have a balcony, place a hammock on it. This is not just a great place to relax, you can actually sleep in it during the warm season. For fastening, you should choose anchors with hooks; this will make it easy to remove the hammock for washing or cleaning in cold weather. It is best to attach with anchors to concrete structures.
Anna Bryukhova: The living room will most likely be one of the central places in the apartment. Place a modular sofa there, consisting of several mobile sections to transform the relaxation area. You can also add several different shaped armchairs, coffee tables and side tables. If you like to throw noisy parties, then soft areas and horizontal surfaces should be enough. For furniture, it is better to choose easy-to-clean fabrics and surfaces. High pile carpets are also undesirable as they are difficult to clean.
Natalya Demyanchenko: For parties in the living room, it is necessary to provide several groups with seating (a corner sofa with a coffee table, two sofas opposite each other and a coffee table, two armchairs and a geridon table between them) and a place for dancing. It is better to choose upholstered furniture in calm, monochromatic colors and enliven it with pillows. A bar counter would look appropriate in the public area of a bachelor's apartment. Built-in wardrobes are absolutely necessary, where you can quickly put away everything unnecessary when a guest unexpectedly appears. There is no place for a boring “bed and two bedside tables” set in the bedroom. A headboard made of brutal aged wood or soft capitonné will look much more impressive. Instead of bedside tables, use square chests or metal tables with a glass top.
High tech
A modern style that has become very popular lately. This direction is characterized by numerous boxes and equipment. All things should make living in the apartment better and more comfortable.
Modern materials are used for the apartment. Sliding windows and doors are best suited for this style.

Lighting must be artificial. Concealed lights should be used.
Accessories can be very diverse, from statues to flowers. However, it is important not to overdo it.
Modern technology has a separate role. There must be a lot of it. You can use large TVs, computers, laptops and other modern equipment designed to while away your leisure time.
Interior style
Bachelor's apartments are usually decorated strictly, without romantic moods. An apartment that belongs to only one person fully reflects his hobbies. The most commonly chosen styles are:
- Brutalism. The simplest, without decorations and bright colors. Concrete walls, plain wallpaper, wooden or self-leveling floors. The colors used are white, black and gray, and the bedroom contains only a narrow bed and a hanger.
- Loft. A style based on maximum free space and minimum partitions. Wall decoration - untreated red brick or decorative stone. Large panoramic windows without curtains, only with blinds. Furniture is of good quality, made of wood, forged elements are allowed.
- High tech. Functionality based. There are built-in appliances and transformable furniture. Natural finishing materials (wood, stone, clay).
If the goal is to make every meter useful, you can choose modern. It is based on the convenience and minimum of the headset, the predominance of brown shades.

Conclusion
Take a look at the photo of the bachelor's apartment - it reflects the character of the man. One person will live in the house, so you can equip the rooms the way you want. When looking at such an apartment, you can immediately understand what a person is interested in and what he loves.
If previously bachelor apartments were a mess, now such houses show the individuality of each man.
Style selection
Men's interiors are usually distinguished by laconicism and restraint. Popular styles are minimalism, hi-tech, loft. This is due not only to the love for these particular areas, but also to some stereotypes.
When creating an interior for themselves, men do this, among other things, to maintain their image. Most likely, companies will often gather here - and almost every bachelor wants to appear before the guests in the most masculine image possible. The appropriate brutal interior of the home is an excellent complement to the owner’s style.
A popular solution is an open plan, in which almost the entire space is visible. For example, the living room is combined with the kitchen, as in studios - and this entire room can be seen right from the front door. The presence of a hallway is optional; you can do without it.
Some interiors look especially expressive precisely because they are revealed to the viewer as soon as he enters the threshold - and in men's apartments this looks very organic.
Of course, the division of interiors by gender is very conditional. But in this case, stereotypes work perfectly - the masculine character of correctly created interiors is instantly read, and this is very useful for creating the desired image.
Not all men like overt masculinity in interiors, but this is not necessary. Even a classic interior can be made very characteristic and expressive, with the features of a harsh bachelor’s den.
Fighting the clutter
It’s clean not where they clean, but where they don’t litter. This folk wisdom applies to the home of unmarried people. When a bachelor is constantly alone in an apartment, the requirements for the level of cleanliness, order, and the availability of prepared food gradually decrease.
Conceptually, the design of a bachelor's apartment should be thought out in such a way as to limit the number of things located per unit area and increase their functionality
. The fewer items there are in the apartment, the less likely it is that over time they will end up out of place. In this situation, the number of surfaces that can become dusty and dirty is significantly reduced. The less opportunity there is to litter the apartment, the less dirt, dust and unnecessary things will be found in it during cleaning.
Cabinet
Small apartments often lack workspace and you have to figure out how to make the most of the space. For example, it is important for men to have their own workplace. By placing a wide table with good lighting in the kitchen, you can create an ideal place both for working on a laptop and for eating.

Bachelor's kitchen
As for the kitchen, a few square meters should accommodate everything that is required for preparing, heating and eating food. And this requires a lot of equipment. If you place everything according to the concept of strict order and convenience
, then it will be an excellent option. For example, place the oven on the same level as the countertop. This way you won’t have to bend over to him every time. Thanks to the proper placement of kitchen appliances, there will be no need to make unnecessary movements, which will reduce cooking time to a minimum.
Probably the best compliment for a kitchen is the words: “it inspires you to cook.” Indeed, if each room is thought out to the smallest detail and the housing is adapted to the character of the owner, such an apartment is convenient not only to stay in, but also to live in.

Opening and closing drawers and remembering where everything is is not the most pleasant activity for a man. What if you remove all these doors and place kitchen utensils within easy reach? This solution is quite functional. And if you keep the interior in white and metallic tones, it will also look stylish.

The ceiling in the main room has two levels. To be more precise, the ceiling was covered with plasterboard in several places to a height of 2350 mm - we got two caissons (rectangular recesses) of different sizes. In order not to groove the slabs, we used Paulmann structural lamps - we stretched and secured three string lines with three rotating lamps in each. The hemmed ceiling level made it possible to use built-in soffits to illuminate the decorative finish of the walls and entrance area. Lamps with transparent bulb shades were hung above the “bar counter” tabletop - they look great even during the day.
Classic bachelor apartment
The apartment of an unmarried man should become for him a place to which he will return with pleasure and impatience after a day of work or school. And of course, it’s nice to come back to a cozy apartment, furnished with beautiful things.
The design of a one-room bachelor’s apartment should be thought out to the smallest detail. One of the optimal and suitable styles for a bachelor would be a studio apartment, which combines a living room, bedroom and kitchen in one room, visually divided into zones.
How to choose the most functional options?
If your schedule is tight, you don’t have time for anything, but you want to do it beautifully, ask for a comprehensive turnkey repair.
The architect will be able to sensibly evaluate the apartment and suggest interesting options for zoning the space, explain how and where it is best to arrange a niche, and how to create a separate dressing room, if one is needed. In the showroom you can “touch” all the materials and decide on the color scheme.
Professional craftsmen will quickly carry out the work and take away all the rubbish. There are two major advantages here - fixed deadlines and the opportunity to get rid of work. The company's managers will supervise the finishers, plumbers and electricians; all you have to do is come back in a few months and accept the renovation of your brutal bachelor pad, which you can show off and in which you can live comfortably.
Lighting
In the interior of a bachelor’s apartment, special attention should be paid to lighting. No bulky central chandeliers are used here. Preference is given to spot light, energy-saving LED or halogen lamps. In a one-room apartment, which is divided into functional zones, portioned (zonal) lighting
.
