What do you need to make a table from an iron pipe?
First of all, you will need to draw up a sketch of the future product. Making a table frame from a profile pipe, as they say, out of inspiration, without accurately calculating the dimensions, is a bad idea. In the best case, at the end of the work there will be a lot of scraps of steel pipe and unused workpieces. In the worst case, a metal table with crooked lines and a not entirely straight tabletop will be added to the scrap metal.

The dimensions of future metal furniture are determined separately according to two parameters - the height and depth of the tabletop. For a homemade table made from a profile pipe, you can use generally accepted standards, but it is better to adjust the dimensions to the individual characteristics of the owners:
- The height of the table is selected within the range of 80-110 cm. If it is dining furniture, then 80-90 cm will be enough; for standing work, the distance from the floor to the tabletop is increased to 100 cm for a person of average height and 110 cm for tall people;
- Magazine models are traditionally made with a height of 35 cm. For a mobile table on wheels, the optimal height would be 65-70 cm, no more;
- The size of the tabletop in depth is chosen based on the length of the owners’ arms. An adult in a standing position should, without bending, reach with his fingers to the middle of the table surface.
The remaining dimensions are planned according to the size of the room or area on which the furniture will be installed. It is clear that the larger the table size, the more powerful the cross-section of the profile pipe is chosen. Accordingly, the weight of the furniture is greater. Sometimes chairs and stools are welded from leftover material, for example, for a dining table from a profile pipe. This is an extremely bad idea, as the chairs turn out to be very heavy and ugly.

There is a golden rule for making metal furniture - the size of the profile pipe, its cross-section must correspond to the load on the tabletop.
Advice! To make tables, use a square profile pipe, with a cross-section of 20-30 mm, no more. Vertical posts and the most loaded parts of the frame can be welded from a 40 mm profile.
Recommendations for the manufacture of equipment for the production of bent profile pipes
There are many ways to bend pipes. One of the simplest is to use two tooling pipes with a larger internal diameter and a longer length than the workpiece. The first pipe of the equipment is rigidly fixed on a workbench or on any plane; an option is driven vertically into the ground. The workpiece is bent by fixing the bending point of the profile pipe in the first pipe of the equipment with a wooden wedge. Using the second pipe of the equipment, put on the remaining part of the profile, using it as a shoulder, we bend the profile to the desired degree. This bending occurs at one point.
A rocking chair with forged elements looks quite aesthetically pleasing.
In the case where the bend has a complex configuration, the equipment becomes more complicated. The easiest option is to take a 200x50 mm board, the length will be determined by the workpiece, and mark the reference points of the profile bend on it. Secure the board to a workbench, floor or other hard surface. Then, in the designated places, bolt the semicircular wooden stops around which the pipe bends.
The shape of the stops determines the desired bend of the workpiece.
The pipe is fixed in three stops, and then using a larger diameter pipe we bend the workpiece in the stops that define the bends.

In order to bend a profiled pipe with a 10 mm edge, you can use a manual pipe bender, and assemble part of the decor from a round profile and fittings. Using wooden boards lined with plastic as a coating material will turn out beautifully and aesthetically.
Of all the designs for a durable metal frame for a home table, the most preferable would be the one with the back facing, this allows you to significantly improve rigidity without the use of heavy profile pipes measuring more than 30 mm.
For the main country table, for the garage and repair shop, choose the classic version of the table with legs tied at the lower level. The design is quite rigid, so if necessary it can be used as a cutting surface.

How to make a table from metal pipes
The X-shaped support system made of profiled metal has proven so popular that it is used in about half of homemade tables and chairs. Such a device can be seen in the designs of folding stools with fabric seats, in the frames of small tablets used in outdoor retail, and even in an ironing board.

It is not necessary to try to make furniture deliberately rough and rectangular in shape. After you have mastered the simplest operations of cutting and welding sections in rectangular frames, you can try your hand at more complex manufacturing of home furniture.
It is best to order the tabletop ready-made in a furniture showroom; it will be cheaper and easier than covering a board made of boards with birch or ash veneer. The frame is welded from small pieces, 10 mm each, rolled on a pipe bender; it will turn out very beautifully, and most importantly, the reliability of such furniture will not be inferior to industrially manufactured products.

As a result, the risk of errors when assembling parts is reduced, although the table itself is not so beautiful.
The tabletop is assembled with a set of boards into a shield, followed by cutting in the shape of a circle. Next, the board panel is tightened with steel tape and hemmed on the back side with slats. It turns out to be a very beautiful table in Country or Loft style.

Next, you will need to decide on the size of the product and its appearance. Based on personal needs and wishes, a detailed drawing is created indicating all dimensions, fastening elements and materials of manufacture.
With such a detailed plan, you will not make mistakes during the work process . To make a piece of furniture, we will use PVC pipes with a diameter of 2.5 cm (for load-bearing parts) and pipes with a diameter of 2 cm (for transverse elements). To make the product more stable, you can use metal reinforcement with a cross-section of 1.4 cm, which will need to be placed inside the structure.
In addition, the materials you will need are:
- 8 triple connection fittings;
- 2 fittings for connecting 90 degree angles;
- 6 fittings for connecting 45 degree angles;
- plugs for pipes with a diameter of 2 cm.
How to design a table from a profile pipe
For finishing work on homemade furniture made from steel profiles and wood, the same set of materials is almost always used.
Metal parts are painted with a dark varnish that imitates powder paint or blued coating. This recognized style and technique allows not only to decorate the metal, but also to effectively protect black steel from corrosion.
For wood, furniture polishes, varnishes, and toners are used. Almost always they strive to preserve the pattern of wood fibers, to make it more expressive and rich.
Paints and plastics for wood in combination with a profile pipe are practically not used. Even if the countertop is lined with plastic, the surface is sealed with a film with a pattern that imitates valuable wood species.
