An electric fireplace with a flame effect is synonymous with beauty, comfort, and warmth. During its operation, a slight crackling of logs can be heard, and an iridescent fire is visible. All this evokes positive emotions. After all, living fire is a rare phenomenon that you can look at endlessly. Everything will be discussed in more detail later in the article.

Why is the choice in favor of decorative fireplaces so obvious?

Until relatively recently, only owners of private houses could experience all the positive emotions that come from the effect of an open fire. Because only they could build natural fireplaces framed in beautiful portals made of marble, sandstone and other materials. And there are several reasons for this:

  • small dimensions of the premises;
  • strict fire safety standards;
  • All fireplaces require a chimney, which cannot be built in apartments.

Electric fireplace in the living room interior

But for apartment owners there was an alternative - an electric fireplace with a flame effect.

Visually, it is very similar to a natural hearth. There is a firebox, the fire is burning, the room in which it is installed is heated, the coals and logs in the firebox shimmer with colors, and crackling sounds can be heard. But if you look closer, it becomes clear that this is not all natural.

The logs are made of plastic, the sound is reproduced, and the beautiful iridescence of colors is simulated using lighting.

The flame, depending on the model, is projected onto the screen, and the room is heated using a conventional heat fan.

But, despite this, it will create a comfortable atmosphere in the room and evoke the same emotions that you get when you see a natural flame. A fireplace with a flame effect will decorate any interior. Such confidence in this appears when you look at all the variety of models on the market.

Decoration of any interior

Features of the electric fireplace

  • safe. All parts of the firebox are reliably protected and are housed in a durable casing that does not allow current to pass through;
  • a variety of models in style, shape and size makes it possible to install them in any room;
  • relatively low price. Electric analogues do not require a chimney or the construction of a full-fledged portal, so the cost is much lower;
  • built-in thermostat and stove. Due to the heater and thermostat, the room in which the fireplace is installed is heated;
  • sound effects of crackling firewood and hissing make it possible to feel all the emotions from sounds.

Safe and stylish choice

All these factors speak in favor of electric fireplaces with a flame effect. Their stores offer a wide selection of models.

They all have their own characteristics:
  • different sizes;
  • set of functions;
  • flame image transmission technology.

Advice: Electric fireplaces can be purchased with sound effects and a heater.
All these features will make the hearth more realistic!

Stage 7. Sheathing with plasterboard

After wiring the cable, it is necessary to cover the frame with plasterboard.

Step 1. Using a stationery knife, cut out sheets of material of appropriate sizes.

Step 2. The sheets are attached to the profile using a screwdriver. For this, “seed” screws (black, intended for metal) measuring 2.5 x 0.3 cm are used.

Fastening drywall sheets

Step 3. The joints between the sheets of drywall are puttied with sealant.

Step 4. This material itself is quite fragile, so all corners of the electric fireplace are reinforced with galvanized steel corners (necessarily perforated).

Step 5. All surfaces are primed and puttied.

Step 6. Preliminary fitting of the electric furnace in the finished frame is carried out. Opposite the ventilation lugs located in the device body, holes are made in the drywall. If this is not done, the firebox will overheat during operation.

Types of electric fireplaces

Well-known manufacturers of electric fireplaces have devoted their efforts to developing and creating beautiful models that can fit harmoniously into any interior. Depending on the types, electric fireplaces with flame effect can be divided into several types.

By installation method:

Free-standing structures. These products do not require special framing. They are somewhat similar to potbelly stoves. These compact and mobile units can be located anywhere in the apartment where there is access to a power source. Manufacturers offer a wide selection of closed or open heaters with different functions.

Mobile design, add extraordinary style to your living room

Fireplaces that resemble a fire. The models do not have a back wall; they are installed in the middle part of the room and can be viewed from different angles.

Corner electric fireplaces are suitable for any interior. They save space and allow designers to use different stylistic solutions. The following materials are used to decorate the fireplace insert: stone, metal, wood, fiberboard or fiberboard, glass.

Hanging electric fireplace - this model will look beautiful in a large living room. They have an original design: a glossy edging or a frame made of steel.

Hanging fireplace, unusual and cozy

Double-sided electric fireplace - can be used as a border between two functional areas of the living room (for example, between a sitting area and a dining room). Such models are used in large apartments or when rooms are combined during renovation.

Built-in electric fireplaces look especially stylish and modern. They can even be used as lighting fixtures. The Dimplex brand offers a large selection of such models. You can buy fireboxes of different widths, lengths, and heights.

The built-in design looks especially modern and stylish

Island electric fireplaces are the most beautiful and spectacular. They are suitable for installation in large living rooms and bedrooms, where divisions into zones are carried out. You can approach the island fireplace from three sides and admire the flame effect. Most of these models have a sound effect.

Depending on the characteristics they are divided:
  • products in which coal is the main decorative element and the flame passes through it. The effect of smoldering a large number of coals is created;
  • logs of different sizes create the effect of a full firebox;
  • Small stones are used as the main element of the firebox.

Small and elegant

The sizes of electric fireplaces are:
  • standard – 520x620hx240 mm;
  • wide – up to 1000 mm;
  • extra-wide – up to 2500 mm.

All these products differ in technical data. Some have the ability to work like a regular fireplace, heating the room in which they stand. Others do not have this functionality, but are equipped with flame adjustment modes:

  • smoldering;
  • small fire;
  • flame.

There are electric fireplaces that completely resemble a fire . Of course, the cost also depends on the capabilities of the product.

Gives warmth to the room

Some manufacturers of electric fireplaces offer to make fireboxes according to the dimensions required by the customer. The cost will be higher than that of serial models!

Installing an electric fireplace in a corner

By deciding to install an electric fireplace in the corner of the room, you will save as much space as possible, you will be able to create a warm and cozy corner in your room and you will get a triangular-shaped mantelpiece that is quite large in depth and area. This space can be used to decorate the fireplace with various accessories.

Diagram of a corner fireplace.

The fireplace is installed close to the corner walls. To ensure that the sides of the mantelpiece and the portal facades fit as closely as possible to the walls, the floor plinth should be trimmed so that the gap between the portal and the wall is almost invisible. However, if the electric fireplace is moved to another place, the cut out fragment of the plinth will have to be restored.

Do not forget that there must be an outlet where the fireplace is installed. Ideally, the electrical outlet should be hidden behind the fireplace body - this significantly increases the naturalness of the hearth.

Principle of operation

To fully understand this, you need to first understand what it consists of. All built-in products consist of two elements:

  • portal;
  • hearth.

The portal is the outer frame of the product, the hearth is the firebox where logs or coals are located, depending on the design solution.

The outbreak may be:
  • built-in;
  • replaceable.

The first version of the models has a certain size, which is provided in the portals. To install these structures, just insert them into the portal and connect to the power supply. Due to their characteristics, replacement fireboxes require special framing. It can be ordered separately for the fireplace or made independently using materials suitable for this work.

For cozy family evenings

Looking at the flame effect, many are surprised at how manufacturers managed to achieve such a resemblance to natural fire? Everything is quite simple.

Several methods are used to create fireplaces:

1In the firebox, instead of coal or firewood, ordinary plastic is used, painted in different colors, from black to red, orange. Thin pieces of fabric are tied to it, most often light silk is used. At the bottom of this structure a regular incandescent lamp and a fan are installed. After turning on, the incandescent lamp begins to illuminate an imitation of coal or firewood, creating the effect of hot coals. The fan accelerates the pieces of material in different directions. This technology is used in budget models and most modern fireplaces already work differently. But even these options look pretty good.

Creates a simulated fire

2Similar model, but slightly improved. A rotating reflector is installed at the bottom, which gives a more realistic picture. Otherwise, the design and operating principle are similar to the previous version.

3Modern models work on a completely different principle. Imitation of fire is achieved by projecting glare onto a cloud of water vapor and using LED backlighting. Built-in speakers produce the sound of crackling wood. The heating function is provided by built-in heating elements and a fan that expels warm air from the device. The thermostat monitors the room temperature. Modern models can have both built-in controls and a remote control.

Modern models are controlled using a remote control

43D and 5D fireplaces give a good effect. Their work is based on the use of a liquid crystal matrix, which reproduces the image loaded into the device’s memory. To give the fire volume, manufacturers use a technique used by illusionists - “Pepper's Ghost”. In the firebox, at a special angle, there is a translucent mirror, and behind it there are models of smoldering logs with built-in LEDs, which cyclically fade and flare up. This effect is combined with video recording of fire and sparks. It is projected onto the screen, creating a realistic picture.

Stage 5. Making a frame for the chimney

Chimney frame

Making a frame for a chimney
To install this element, a metal profile of 10x4 cm and 10x5 cm is used. No complex structure, as for a portal, is required here - fastening one side to the wall is enough.

Step 1. Holes for self-tapping screws are made in the 10x5 cm profile. The profiles are applied to the markings on the wall, and marks are made for the dowels.

Step 2. Holes are made for the plugs. A hammer is used to drive plugs into the wall. After this, the profile itself is attached using self-tapping screws.

Note! The resulting structure will be fragile, so it also needs to be strengthened using a 10x5 cm profile installed in 50 cm increments.

Step 3. The frame is brought up to the very ceiling - this will be more aesthetically pleasing, and the fake chimney will be extremely similar to the real one.

Choosing a fireplace

The right electric fireplace has:

  • form;
  • finishing;
  • size;

will become an original decoration and addition to interior design. The products also differ in the set of functions, for example, some have built-in speakers through which the sound of cracking logs is reproduced. Others have a control panel and the ability to regulate the intensity of the fire, as well as a fan heater.

Will become an original decoration and addition to interior design

Electric for the living room in a classic style

Many owners want to have a fireplace in their living room, because it is associated with warmth and comfort. This goal is achievable, you just need to correctly design a living room with a fireplace. And then it will fill any room with beauty and comfort.

Selection rules for the classic style

  • The hearth must fit into the overall design solution. For a living room in a classic style, it is best to choose a fireplace with a traditional portal without unnecessary details made of stone, glass, or plastic.
  • In the interior, the hearth is the dominant feature, so all other furniture should emphasize the beauty of the electrical appliance. It must be in the general style of the room.
  • Armchairs and sofas should be located in close proximity to it. This composition will create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the room; it will be conducive to a friendly conversation over a cup of hot tea.
  • You can reveal all the charm of the fireplace with the help of decorative elements. Surround it with figurines, figurines or even other decor.

Furniture should highlight the beauty of the electrical appliance

Designers recommend choosing furniture and a fireplace for the living room at the same time or taking into account the overall style. Otherwise, you risk turning the room into a room where all the details are autonomous and do not create integrity.

Compact fireplace in a small room

Room design recommendations

Before making a fireplace in the living room, you need to take into account one important aspect - the color scheme of the room should not be too dark . It will look more impressive in a bright room. When wanting to decorate the space around the fireplace, the main thing is not to overdo it.

There is no need to hang a lot of shelves and fill them with souvenirs and figurines.

It is better if she is alone and represents one whole with the portal. Above it you can place a beautiful painting or a family portrait; a mirror in a frame will also look elegant.

Looks more impressive in a bright room

You need to pay attention to creating a visual increase in space. Therefore, if the room has a small area, it is better not to use portals made of massive materials, which will visually look bulky. It is better if it is a portal made of natural stone in light colors or plasterboard painted in bed shades.

To increase visual space, you need to make vertical accents. These can be various lightweight materials, mirrors, columns.

Living room in "Country" style

Decoration in the “Country” style is one of the most popular design solutions:
  • Country style is associated with comfort. When creating a room in this style, light and bed colors are used. Preference in materials is given to wood;
  • complete absence of glamor and excessive pathos. It will be a pleasure to spend your free time in such a living room, as it is filled with a comfortable atmosphere due to the use of only natural materials;
  • An electric fireplace in “Country” style does not need to be played out in order to harmoniously fit into the overall style of the room - it is an integral part of it.

Country style

Country style is best used for large living rooms. For small rooms, an electric fireplace made in the form of a potbelly stove is suitable, which does not require further framing. It can be placed in any part of the room, with a cozy sofa or armchairs placed nearby.

Country style is best used for large rooms

A corner electric fireplace will look beautiful, the frame of which will be made of two materials: natural stone and wood. Moreover, the wood will be located only in the upper part of the portal and on its sides. A natural stone fireplace made from crushed sandstone, warm textured shell rock or dolomite will take you back to 19th century France.

Avangard style

This style is suitable for those who love experiments and are not afraid of bright accents. To create a unique living room interior using an electric fireplace, you can use the most unexpected and bright colors, shades, and design solutions.

Dimensions for the avant-garde style are the main feature.

When implementing design solutions, stylists rarely use small details in design; they prefer large, angular shapes.

In the Avant-garde style, you can use bright frames for the fireplace

The modern market offers fireplaces with various frames - these can be products in which the width will significantly exceed the height or models in the form of a triangle. They will emphasize the individuality and style of the room, add coziness and comfort. Directly next to it you can install a glass table with beautiful bright chairs and sofas.

Does not require excessive decoration

Electric fireplaces do not require excessive decoration: location near mirrors, statues or other things that complement the overall style. Here the fireplace itself and its portal are a single composition that will highlight the beauty of the room and style.

Living room in Art Deco style

The Art Deco style is a combination of many trends in art. All of them are harmoniously intertwined, forming avant-garde simplicity and exotic originality. No smooth lines or patterns - only sharpness, angularity, geometry and abstraction.

Among the popular materials it is worth highlighting:
  • durable glass;
  • glossy tiles or stone tiles;
  • varnished surfaces;
  • aluminum;
  • marble;
  • wood, including inlaid wood.

The style is characterized by products in neutral colors

Regarding the color scheme, we can say that the style is characterized by neutral tones - these are:
  • black;
  • white;
  • silver;
  • metal color;
  • gold.

All these style features in no way affect the abundance of suitable models. On the contrary, choosing a fireplace and portal in this style will be much easier. You can pay attention to models from Dimplex and Electrolux. As a frame, you can use portals made in corner and frontal versions, made of marble or laminated chipboard. To make the interior more unique, you can pay attention to the portals, which have a special stand made of durable glass for the TV.

Baroque style - butler chic from the time of Louis XIV

Effectiveness, rich materials, exquisite forms - all this characterizes the Baroque style.

However, this style must be used very carefully in the interior, since it is very easy to overload it and make the room visually heavy.

Baroque style

You should purchase a fireplace and select a portal for it very carefully, taking into account all the features:
  • the portal should have large and magnificent forms;
  • the frame must have decoration, carved decor;
  • In addition to large decor, the portal should have many small details;
  • often the portals are supplemented with another additional element - a decorative part above the firebox, which is made from the same material as the frame itself.

Will be the main accent in the room

A fireplace in a living room in this style will create the main accent in the room. Therefore, designers want to make the fireplace very beautiful and well designed. You can pay attention to products of both front and corner views. The latter will take up less space in the living room, but this does not mean that they will attract less attention.

Kitchen-living room with fireplace. Design

Combining a kitchen with a living room is a solution that is ideal for a summer house, private house or studio apartment. This is the most practical option, allowing you to organize a space where you can spend most of your free time.

  • Aluminum facades for the kitchen: advantages, style, practicality, 55+ best photos

  • How to choose a corner sink for the kitchen: important selection parameters - the best photos of the kitchen interior with a corner sink

  • How to choose the right postformed countertop for the kitchen - recommendations and photos

The advantages of a fireplace are not limited to the ability to observe the fire; its external design can give the kitchen a holistic and complete look. Absolutely different materials are used for framing - granite, shell rock, sandstone, marble and other natural stones, brick, ceramics, wood, fireproof glass mosaic. If the kitchen is made in a classic design, the fireplace can be decorated with columns, bas-reliefs, and stucco. Minimalism in the organization of the portal can also be a solution if the kitchen corner is implemented in a high-tech or Scandinavian style.

How to make a portal for a fireplace?

A variety of fireplaces and portals in the store - you can choose a model that suits your style and requirements. However, the price of such a kit will be high. Not many people can buy a portal made of natural marble or stone for 700 or 1000 dollars, so they are looking for an alternative - to make a portal for the fireplace using building materials that are sold in stores. This is an opportunity to save money and create a portal in the design style you need.

Metal portal

If you put in a little work and use your imagination, you can make a portal for a fireplace in just a few days.

However, to get started you will need:
  • You need exact dimensions: height, width, depth, how much parts of the firebox will be hidden behind the lining.
  • If you are just planning to make renovations, then this question is not so global, since everything else can be “adjusted” to the overall style of the room. If the fireplace is installed in a renovated room, then its style should match it.
  • If the room is just being renovated, then you need to ensure that the electric firebox is connected to the network. It should be invisible to the eye and be immediately accessible.
  • Select framing materials. Consider not only the price, but also the quality, durability, and practicality.
  • To make a portal you need to draw a sketch of the future fireplace. This will help you not make mistakes in sizes, miscalculations, and also visually appreciate the beauty of the building, add or, conversely, remove some elements.

An electric fireplace with a portal is the main accent in the room; they determine its overall style!

The choice of portal determines the style of your interior

Fireplace materials

Stone frame

During operation, its body does not heat up very much, so any materials can be used for the portal without special requirements for strength and fire safety. However, the most commonly used materials are:

  • drywall is the lightest, cheapest material. You can use moisture-resistant or regular drywall. Calculate the sizes of sheets and fragments that you will cut. This will help you choose the right length of plasterboard sheets;
  • wood is a beautiful, expensive material. The variety of species that can be used in the construction of the portal will make it possible to choose the most suitable wood for the overall style;
  • Fiberboard and chipboard are affordable, versatile pressed wood panels;
  • polyurethane molding;
  • stone - it can be sandstone, granite.

Flame of non-standard color

We begin self-installation of an electric fireplace

Not all materials can be used by people in home construction, since the processing of some is complex and requires skills. Therefore, it is better to build a fireplace from materials that can be easily cut, polished, and processed. But there is another way - to order in the store cutting out parts for cladding the portal.

Option for a small living room

We need to make a pedestal for the portal. To do this, it is better to take MDF with a protective laminated layer and cut it to the required size. It is worth noting that this can even be done at the store where you purchase building materials. The choice in favor of this building material is not accidental.

Laminated MDF has excellent characteristics. It is resistant to high temperatures and is not damaged by moisture. Another option could be a regular countertop, which is sold in construction supermarkets. It has the required thickness, and you can choose any color that best suits the overall atmosphere of the room.

For a wall-mounted fireplace, the base should be rectangular, and for a corner fireplace, it should be five-pointed. The base should be slightly larger in area than the portal itself.

Fireplace as an alternative to TV

To raise your fireplace a little higher, you can put a profile of the same size under the tabletop, which must be securely fastened to the floor and tabletop. Its edges and the gap can then be closed using a plastic plinth, the color of which will match the tabletop.

Frame

The best material option for making the frame of an electric fireplace is plasterboard . In addition to the fact that it has a low price, drywall can be cut quite easily and is not affected by changes in temperature and humidity.

Interesting design of a small model

Manufacturing should begin with the installation of the frame for the hearth. To do this, you will need two types of profile: rack-mount - 50*50 mm and guide 50*40 mm. To install the profile, you will need self-tapping screws with a small length of 11 to 13 mm.

To start work, prepare the tool:
  • metal scissors. You can choose any: right-handed, left-handed or straight;
  • Phillips screwdriver, screwdriver;
  • you will need a 2 or 3 kg hammer;
  • stationery knife;
  • building level. It is better to take 1.5 meters and be sure to make it from metal, since thin aluminum levels do not show accurately.

Let's start with the frame. Now we are looking at an example of how to make a wall-mounted fireplace. On the wall we draw a marking for the fireplace with a pencil. It must correspond exactly to the constructed drawings.

Simple and nothing extra

You definitely need to check the accuracy of the drawings several times and examine everything with a level. After all, a crooked hearth will not look the best!

Then the same markings need to be made on the base of the fireplace. Also check and measure everything carefully. Then proceed with the installation of the 50*40 profile according to the markings. After fastening, you should have a parallelepiped. For this work you will need dowel nails and wood screws. Then you need to fasten all the components of the structure with bedbugs.

Following safety precautions, you need to lay a non-flammable material, you can use special heat-resistant mineral wool, between the back wall of the fireplace and the wall.

Elegant classic

After this stage of work, it is necessary to proceed to one of the most important stages - strengthening the structure. Since the main load will fall only in the part where the electric fireplace will stand, you need to take a 50*50 profile and insert it across at intervals of 25 cm. Then the inner part of the frame is made, taking into account the dimensions of the electric fireplace.

Making a frame for the chimney

This stage of work can be skipped if a false chimney is not planned. If you want to make your hearth more realistic, similar to natural, then you need to make a frame for the chimney. It can have different shapes, but, as a rule, they are made similar to a triangle - at the base of the fireplace it is wide, the closer to the ceiling the chimney narrows. But you can also make a light chimney - rectangular.

Stylish chimney option

To make it you will need a profile of 100*40 and 100*50 mm. By choosing a larger profile, you eliminate the need to build complex structures, since it is attached only on one side to the wall.

So, in the profile (100*40 mm) in its side part you need to pre-drill holes for self-tapping screws. Then you need to attach it to the drawing on the wall and make marks for the dowel. Then, using a screwdriver or hammer drill, you need to make holes in the wall for the dowel plug. And then hammer it into the holes with a hammer. Next, we attach the profile to the wall using dowels.

The resulting structure will not have the required strength, so it must be secured using transverse structures.

To do this, you need to take a 100*50 profile and attach it to the main chimney frame every half meter.

Electric fireplace in a studio apartment

Wiring

To make it work you need to do some electrical wiring. It must be reliable to ensure proper fire safety. For wiring, it is best to use self-extinguishing wire 2*2.5 or 2*4 mm2. You only need to bring it inside the portal using a metal hose.

If there is grounding in the room, then the wiring should be made of triple wire.

It is better to choose a high-quality socket for an electric fireplace. It should be ceramic and grounded. If you plan to install an outlet in direct access, then you can do without installing a separate switch for it. If it is closed, behind the portal, then make a separate switch for it so that you can disconnect the electric fireplace from the network.

Square, strict models are more suitable for modern interiors

Portal skin

It's time to give the frame a finished look.

To do this you need to take:

  • drywall;
  • stationery knife;
  • level;
  • ruler;
  • pencil.

Before cutting the drywall, you need to carefully measure everything again so that the correct dimensions are transferred to the sheets. Then you need to cut out all the necessary parts to sheathe the frame. To do this, you need to cut off all the parts of the structure with a stationery knife.

They are attached to the frame using metal screws (3.5*25mm). The remaining joints are closed using putty. It is better to close all the corners of the structure with a perforated corner, this way you will reliably protect the structure from damage.

An interesting solution for a room in blue

After the rough work is done, the portal needs to be primed and puttied. After this, it is necessary to make holes for ventilation, otherwise during prolonged operation of the firebox it will heat up and heat the entire portal, which is unsafe. Ventilation holes are made opposite the eyes.

Decoration

Decorating the fireplace is the final stage of framing an electric firebox. The choice of material depends entirely on the style of the room.

Here are the most common coverage options:

1Use artificial stone. This material can be purchased at any hardware store.

It has many advantages:
  • finishing with artificial stone is quite easy;
  • due to the insignificant weight of the material, the load on the portal is reduced;
  • you can purchase a large number of materials of different colors and textures;
  • due to the large selection, it is possible to create a variety of patterns;
  • insignificant cost.

Framing with artificial stone

2Textured plaster is also a popular material used in finishing the portal.

It has a number of advantages:
  • it is possible to create completely different drawings on the portal;
  • a variety of paint colors makes it possible to choose the most successful color scheme;
  • low weight of the material;
  • relatively low cost.

Framing with textured plaster

All of these fireplace design options are suitable for living rooms in a classic style. But for the “High-Tech” style, choosing a frame will be a little more difficult, but there is a way out. You can order a TV stand made in the same style as the room, but make a niche in it according to the size of the electric fireplace firebox, where it will be inserted. The main condition will be to decorate the niche inside with metal elements so that when the firebox heats up, the chipboard is not damaged.

Prices and manufacturers

On the modern market there is a huge selection of electric fireplaces that are suitable for installation in apartments and houses. They differ not only in style and size, but also in content. Conventionally, electric fireplaces can be divided into two groups:

  • serial - manufacturers make fireplaces according to established drawings and diagrams. They are quite mobile, since their weight does not exceed 25 kg. The cost of such products is no more than $700;
  • exclusive - many famous brands produce unique models of fireboxes. You won't find them in stores, only in catalogs. They are quite realistic and sometimes it is quite difficult to distinguish them from natural fireplaces, especially from a distance. But such models have disadvantages - the production time can be quite long. Some models cost up to $5,500.

In the style of minimalism

Among the manufacturers of electric fireplaces, it is worth highlighting:

  • Hark (Germany) – decorative fireplaces have a special style. They are of high quality, as are all equipment from German manufacturers. Due to their combination of advantages, these models have a high price. The choice is limited to standard designs.

Model Hark (Germany)

  • Dimplex (Ireland) is the most popular company that enjoys the trust of customers. A wide selection of models makes it possible to purchase products that will suit any style and design of the room. This company produces the largest fireplaces in size. It is possible to order the production of a firebox to suit your dimensions.

Model Dimplex (Ireland)

  • Electrolux electric fireplace - the manufacturer offers a wide range of built-in hanging models. Compared to other companies that manufacture fireboxes, Electrolux offers relatively inexpensive models.

Stage 4. Making a frame to frame the fireplace

Making a frame to frame the fireplace

Making a frame to frame a fireplace
An electric fireplace is easiest to make from sheets of plasterboard. This material is easy to install and resistant to temperature changes. In addition, it is most suitable in terms of environmental friendliness.

First, the frame of the portal is constructed. For work you will need the following materials:

  • metal profile 5x5 cm for racks;
  • metal profile 5x4 cm for guides;
  • “bug” self-tapping screws of short length (about 1-1.3 cm). Self-tapping screws

Note! The term “bugs” refers to short white self-tapping screws that have a large head and are used for fastening metal profiles.

Tools
You will also need equipment such as:

  • metal scissors;
  • mounting level;
  • marker;
  • stationery knife;
  • screwdriver;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver

Now you can start installation. A wall-mounted fireplace is more common, so the technology of its manufacture is considered.

Step 1. First, the entire area of the wall that will be in contact with the structure is covered with fireproof material. Asbestos sheet can be used as such a material.

Step 2. Next, markings for the frame are made on the wall. Use a mounting level and a marker.

Note! A level check is mandatory, since it is unlikely that a crooked electric fireplace can be considered a good result.

Step 3. Guides from a 5x4 cm profile are attached according to the markings drawn up at the previous stage. The result should be a symmetrical parallelepiped. Self-tapping screws and dowels are used for fastening.

Fastening profiles

Step 4. All elements of the future frame are connected using “bugs”, after which the structure is strengthened, since it will have to withstand considerable load. In particular, this applies to the lower part where the electric firebox will be installed. For reinforcement, a 5x5 cm profile is used - it is inserted across the structure in increments of 30 cm.

Step 5. The internal part intended for the firebox is formed. To determine the dimensions of this part, the dimensions of the device itself are measured, and the width of the fire-resistant tile (or any other heat-resistant material) is added to the resulting figure.
