Depending on the material, products are divided into the following types:

  • Forged.
  • Wooden.
  • Ceramic.
  • Crystal.
  • Salt.

Forged candelabra are in greatest demand. They have undoubted advantages: high strength, reliable design, beautiful external design. Such products often complement antique-style interiors. These candlesticks look noble and elegant, they create a special holiday atmosphere. Ceramic coasters are appropriate in any room, regardless of purpose. They are often placed on tables in the living room or dining room. Beautiful candelabra can also be used as aroma lamps.

After the advent of electricity, candlesticks remained in interiors as an accessory. Today they add notes of history, romance, and solemnity to the atmosphere of the house. It is believed that a burning flame has a positive effect on human health and condition. It relaxes the mind and body, reduces nervous tension, and brings us back to the natural beginning. The last point is very important, since in the modern world we are increasingly moving away from nature. Wax products on beautiful bronze or ceramic stands will help create a pleasant atmosphere.

As a rule, people make candlesticks with their own hands for some holiday. An exquisite candelabra will add a touch of solemnity to the New Year's or Christmas table and help maintain the atmosphere of a romantic evening. You can arrange an aromatherapy session for yourself. Perfumed candles in a beautiful stand will create an aura of comfort and tranquility.

Christmas decor

Flickering light with cinnamon scent

New Year's bustle, the smell of the Christmas tree, the sparkling of garlands, bright tinsel - all this surrounds us everywhere on the pre-holiday days. And, of course, what would New Year be without the fresh taste of citrus fruits? Let's not only savor it, but also feel the incredibly spicy exotic aroma with these orange candlesticks!

Other original solutions

Attractive New Year's items can be created from other materials. This is quite easy to verify if you look at photographs of unusual creations of human hands.

Crafts made from salt dough

To make the mass, you need to measure:

  • 125 ml water;
  • a glass of flour and fine salt;
  • a small amount of vegetable oil (a tablespoon), an alternative to it is any cream;
  • dye for color.

For the base, each author chooses his own option, but candlesticks with the same dough base look most harmonious. Any shapes and patterns can be made from this pliable material using silicone molds. Leaves are made by making cuts with scissors, flowers by hand rolling narrow strips. Dry the finished crafts in the oven over low heat. If dye was not used, then the finished candlestick can be painted and then varnished.

Use of glass bottles

Such New Year's crafts are an easy way to get the desired candlestick, but a novice craftsman will definitely face one difficulty - the need to cut the vessel. There are 2 methods of separating bottles into parts, after which the work will follow a knurled track:

  1. The natural thread is impregnated with an alcohol-containing liquid, then it is wound around the site of the future cut and set on fire. When the combustion stops, the containers undergo contrasting procedures: first, it is immersed in boiling water for 3 minutes, then very quickly in cold (ice) water. The glass will break. Exceptions for which this operation will have to be repeated 2-3 times are thick-walled champagne bottles.
  2. Use a glass cutter. The container is wrapped with an elastic band, a straight line is drawn next to it, it is burned, and then similar contrasting procedures are performed.
  3. The sharp edge is treated with emery: first coarse, then fine. A wick (wooden, cotton) is inserted into the container, which is fixed vertically with scissors or wooden sticks.
  4. Hot paraffin is poured into the candlestick, after it cools, the product is decorated with paints, ribbons, pine branches, glitter, lace or rhinestones.

Souvenir made of polymer clay

This material is ideal for making openwork and figured crafts, which may include New Year's candlesticks. The form in this case does not matter, since the work always follows the same scenario:

  1. First of all, a template is made from paper, which is cut out, then placed on a layer of rolled out polymer dough, its thickness is several millimeters.
  2. Large and medium-sized parts are cut out with a sharp knife, shaped holes are cut out with cookie cutters.
  3. Having given the workpieces the desired shape, the edges of the workpiece are joined, air dried or sent to the oven. The drying method depends only on the type of polymer clay.
  4. After drying, the parts are glued together with PVA. All seams are masked with self-hardening paste intended for modeling. The patches are also sanded with sandpaper: start with coarse sandpaper and finish with fine grains.

Wooden candlesticks

It was and remains a popular material: both in construction and for the manufacture of various household utensils and decorative items. For New Year's candle products, timber, tall elements cut from tree trunks, or small saw cuts are used.

Wood is capricious, so it requires special impregnation to guarantee fire safety. To obtain a full-fledged candlestick, you need a drill with a special crown attachment, which is used to cut out holes for candles. The finished craft is treated with stain and varnished.

Candles and fir branches

This is not a very suitable option if the author wants the product to last for a long time: the branches will quickly begin to lose needles. In this case, the production of crafts begins on the eve of the New Year. The way out is a pot containing a damp floral sponge (foam).

In such a “dwelling” the branches will serve as a New Year’s lamp much longer. Since the needles themselves are a beautiful decorative element, it is not recommended to overload the composition with other decorations.

Candlestick - former shell

It’s quite easy to make a nice candlestick from sea or river shells, and such products always look beautiful. This work is simple: shells coated with gold or silver paint are filled with melted wax, then a wick is inserted. An ordinary small candle becomes the supplier of the material.

The wicks are glued to the center of the shells with double-sided tape or PVA glue. Due to poor stability, these objects are fixed with soft plasticine or placed in egg cartons while the mass hardens.

A DIY New Year's candlestick is always original and unique, because each author finds his own ideal composition. As a result, crafts are often born that are worthy of being called not such a simple word, but “masterpieces.” How and from what a candlestick can be “sculpted” is up to the owners to decide, because the conditions are dictated only by the untouchable reserves of available materials and the desire of the master to find a special model, unlike others.

Ideas for inspiration are usually drawn from the World Wide Web. One such source could be this interesting video:

From the cones

Decoration made from pine cones reflects the spirit and mood of the winter holidays. Decorating a candlestick will take little time and will bring you pleasure. Prepare the following necessary things:

  • Christmas tree cones;
  • glass toys;
  • candle;
  • glue;
  • foil;
  • general stand;
  • candle stand;
  • spray paint (gold, silver or white).

Preparing the necessary materials

This is not a mandatory set, you can improvise and use whatever you find in your Christmas decoration box.

  • We make a candle stand using a metal lid or a narrow glass. In the first option, glue a button onto the lid to secure the candle. The glass itself will cope with the task, supporting it with its walls.
  • Now let’s create a stand for the entire composition. You can use a piece of old board or plywood for it. We coat it with glue on all sides and apply foil.

Stand for the entire composition

  • To make the cones beautiful and elegant, cover them with an aerosol and let them dry. We prepare twigs, Christmas tree decorations and other available decorative elements.

Painting the cones

  • In the middle of our board with foil we install a candle stand. We lay out pine cones, twigs, and toys around. When the resulting composition takes on an attractive appearance, we begin to glue the objects.

New Year's composition is ready

  • All that remains is to place the decoration on a shelf or table and light a candle!

Candles for the New Year: perfection in decor and interior

The use of candles for the New Year is an ancient tradition, the meaning of which has not been lost to this day. A burning candle is a symbol of a pure and strong soul, as well as rebirth and new life. Candles cleanse the energy of our home, so the subconscious desire to decorate the house at this time with different candles becomes understandable.

This is the most suitable decorative element on the festive table and in the interior.

The interior looks especially festive and fabulous

Many people prefer to put candles in beautiful candlesticks, and we can make them ourselves

A wide variety of materials are used to decorate a candlestick.

Original ideas from kitchen utensils

Whisks, ladles, spoons are a great idea for non-standard candlesticks. Such things look very eccentric, a little industrial and quite aesthetically pleasing! The highlight of the “loft” will only be a plus!

Practical recommendations for choosing candlesticks

The main rule is that you need to select accessories in accordance with the overall style of the interior. The shape and design should become a refined detail of the overall design.

  • For an interior decorated in the “traditional Italy” style, candlesticks are chosen in ornate shapes, decorated with flowers and modeling.
  • For rooms decorated in a rich, luxurious Baroque style, it is best to choose a candlestick in gold or silver tones.
  • A room in a classic or retro style will undoubtedly be decorated with massive bronze items.

Important. When decorating the interior, you should not get carried away with a large number of small details.

From glasses

Everyone has a couple of unnecessary glasses, outdated or scrapped for other reasons. They can easily find new uses - they can serve as candlesticks for our New Year's table.

One of the glass decor options

Method No. 1

You need to take a glass, a candle, glue, scissors, paper, small branches of spruce, fir or thuja.

  • Trim the branches to the required size so that they fit in the glass and do not obscure the candle.
  • Lay out the branches on paper and coat them with glue.

Take thuja or pine

  • Cover the outer walls of the glass with it in a circle. Do this quickly so that the glue does not have time to dry.
  • Place a candle of the desired size in the glass.

Do everything step by step - the craft is ready

Method No. 2

Let's consider another original option. Simply turn it upside down and place a small candle on the base. Place beautiful twigs, flowers, beads or Christmas balls inside the vessel.

All that remains is to put the candle on the leg

  • Trace the outline of the container on cardboard and cut out the plug.

Cut out the plug

  • The inside of the glass must be degreased and rubbed until shiny.

Rub your glass until it shines

  • Place toys, figurines, pebbles and whatever comes to your mind inside. The main thing is to get a beautiful and fabulous composition.

Glue any composition

  • Attach the stopper to the glass with glue.

Method No. 3

You can make an interesting candlestick using braid or lace. Cover the wine glass with fabric, but do not glue it - first evaluate the appearance.

Candlestick with lace and beads

If you use fabrics and lace of different shades, the candlestick will turn out more colorful.

To prevent your glass from bursting from heating, use only small candles.

Method No. 4

Decoupage will give your candlesticks made from wine glasses a sophisticated look. Let's get acquainted with the specifics of the technology. Prepare the following components: glass, candle, acrylic paints, varnish, glue, contours.

Candlesticks using decoupage technique

Let's start making decoupage. First of all, degrease the surface of the glass. Apply a layer of acrylic paint to serve as a primer. We recommend using a small sponge to quickly and evenly distribute the paint.

Apply acrylic paint

Usually one layer of acrylic is enough. However, if you feel that the surface is not smooth and beautiful enough, repeat the steps. While the paint dries, we can come up with and make drawings. Cut out intricate patterns from the napkin and decide where and how best to glue them.

Cutting out a design from a napkin

Once the paint is completely dry (this may take three hours), glue the decorative patterns onto the bowl with regular glue. Use a paint brush to smooth out the napkin so that it does not dry out with wrinkles.

Glue the napkin onto the glass

Now you can apply the finishing touches by highlighting the details with paint and emphasizing the elements with a dark outline. After finishing your creative work, coat the glass with varnish.

Method No. 5

Perhaps now you are excited about the idea of making a candlestick from a glass. What if the selected capacity will soon be needed for its intended purpose?

An original decor that will not harm the wine glasses can be done in a matter of minutes. This method will allow you to use the glass for alcoholic drinks in the future. Take small candles and decorative items - beads, twigs, flowers, etc. Fill the wine glass two-thirds with water. Place decorations of your choice and a candle inside. The candlestick is ready!
