Step-by-step instructions for making a shoe chest.
Step 1. Making a lid (tabletop measuring 50 x 80 cm). The design of the tabletop is frame. To do this, the facade (furniture panel) must be fixed in a frame made of boards. The boards for the frame must be passed through a jointer and thicknesser. Grooves are milled in the upper trim.

Step 8. Decorative processing of shoe rack elements. To create the effect of aged wood, lightly brush the surfaces of the chest of drawers using a brush with iron bristles. After this, a layer of stain is applied and the wood is rubbed with a rag. To make the shade more rich, it is recommended to then (after the stain has dried) apply oil or varnish.

Step 9. Attaching the hinges. The door of the shoe rack must tilt, so it is necessary to install furniture hinges. To do this, holes are drilled for their installation. Using a stop block, the hinges are aligned and screwed. Since the load can be significant, it is recommended to install four hinges.

Step 10. Assembling the structure. Using clamps, all elements of the shoe rack are glued together (you should not forget about the baguette on the front wall). The front door is attached. An aesthetic handle is screwed onto it. The back wall can be made of any sheet material, for example plywood.
Step 11. Finishing. The surface is treated with a sanding sponge. After this, another layer of stain is applied, and light sanding is carried out again. A layer of oil with patina is applied. After half an hour, wipe the structure with a rag to even out the coating. The next day, you can apply another coat of hard oil to the wood. After half an hour, you need to wipe the surface again to remove excess oil. The good thing about an oil coating is that it can be easily renewed if necessary. All you need is a small amount of the composition and a cotton swab.
