Pleated blinds for non-standard windows
As I have said many times, these are some of my favorite products. They look perfect on any window, perhaps even better on triangular windows than on regular rectangular ones. So, pleated is a corrugated fabric that folds into an accordion when the window is opened. This type of blinds can be installed on triangular, trapezoidal, round, and attic (slanted) windows. And even install automation on them. Be sure to watch the video below, it will show these blinds for round windows, as well as non-triangular ones with automatic control. There are a lot of systems of these blinds, if you are interested, click for more details.

Classic curtains
Curtains in their traditional sense are thick panels that do not allow sunlight to pass through, located on the side of the window. Most often they are chosen for the living room, bedroom, office and nursery. Using various techniques, you can visually correct the shortcomings of an unusual window, turning them into the highlight of the interior.
For narrow, high windows, curtains with lambrequins are suitable, due to which the vertical line will be slightly hidden. Volumetric draperies on the side of the opening will help to visually expand the window. The same wide curtains, but covering part of the opening, on the contrary, will make the window too wide. In this case, do not use lambrequins.

Arched openings can be enhanced by attaching curtains to an arched cornice. This technique will not only help emphasize their originality, but will also reliably protect the room from light.
Curtains for sloping windows can also be made with thick curtains, but often the canvas is made stationary. Sloping ceilings eliminate the possibility of moving curtains for large triangular windows horizontally. You can regulate the flow of sunlight using tiebacks or roller blinds mounted on the window frame.
If the goal is to disguise a non-standard window, then the curtains can be made the length of the entire wall, the fastening can be hidden behind the suspended ceiling structure, and the openings themselves can be covered with a simple, translucent curtain.
Curtains on bay windows look good. Their canvases can decorate each opening separately, collecting the ensemble into one whole, or only the outer sides of only the outermost bay window openings. This technique will allow you to turn the structure into one large window, especially if its central part is covered with light curtains.
Vertical blinds
Vertical blinds, perhaps in a non-standard format, can only be used on inclined windows, like in the photo. In this case, the design differs from standard vertical blinds only in the extended slider holder, to which a hinged extension is added.
Well, in order to make them with high quality, you need to accurately measure the dimensions of the product, and most importantly the angle of inclination, since all the slats in this case will be of different lengths, and if the dimensions are taken inaccurately, along the lower curved line, all the shortcomings will be visible. In this case, I don’t see the point of including a video so as not to weigh down the page; photographs will be enough.
There are a great variety of designs, multi-textured, with photo printing, fabric, plastic, aluminum, perforated, figured, wavy, fragmented. If you need more details, click the button.

What you can do with your own hands
The appearance and cost of ready-made blinds for sloping windows is not always ideal for owners. In this case, you can build sun protection with your own hands. The following options are possible:
- Roman. They are made from fabric, folded using wooden planks.
- False. This model is easy to make from pleated fabric, where the curves form independently. To make them you will need thick fabric.
- Fabric blinds and curtains. This is something between the usual curtains and, in fact, blinds, since they do not have clear folds.
Homemade blinds will require a frame to support the sides. Wooden, plastic or metal tubes or rods are suitable for it. It is important to choose high-quality fittings and those parts that will be responsible for the movement of the canvas.
Blinds for curved windows are essentially no different from products for vertical openings. But there are still some nuances that need to be taken into account when choosing and installing. It is worth noting that a room with a non-standard window, if properly designed, will have its own special charm, and in this case, homemade blinds made from materials of a suitable color have a significant advantage.
Horizontal blinds
Horizontal blinds for triangular windows are quite an interesting option, but not all manufacturers will undertake their production. Since usually the fabric of these blinds consists of many slats, the length of the slats is set on the machine, and the machine makes the slats oval, at the same time cuts off the required length in the required quantity and punches holes for the guide ropes and ladders. Due to the highly automated process, these products for ordinary windows are quite cheap. But in the case of making blinds according to non-standard sizes, all this is done manually, which greatly affects the price. Plus, not all companies have manual presses for punching holes and cutting lamellas.

Roman curtains
Roman blinds can easily be called one of the most versatile decorating options. Thanks to their design, they easily allow you to regulate the level of natural light in the room. The widest choice of textiles for their manufacture allows them to fit into the interior of any stylistic direction. They can be used as a separate decorative item for a window opening, or in an ensemble with heavy curtains. These curtains look great in the kitchen, nursery, or bathroom. They are perfect for roof windows in the country; to do this, you just need to fasten guides or a cord along the opening.
Roman blinds are perfect for slanting trapezoidal windows, arched openings, as well as for any others. This is possible thanks to their fixed upper part, which can be given any geometry. You can also fix them on the wall in various ways, starting with screws and ending with Velcro tape (Velcro).
Wide window decoration
It would seem that a large panoramic window is a big plus of the house, because it lets a lot of light into the room. But designing such an architectural element is not at all easy. Before you start decorating, it is worth studying all the features of the design: whether it is single or multi-leaf, the dimensions of each section. If the window consists of several identical sashes, you can dilute their monotony by alternating matte and shiny curtains.
If you want to focus attention on the beautiful landscape outside the window, decorate the window to match the tone of the walls in the room. But if the room offers an unremarkable view, it is better to make the window decor more active
For these purposes, you can use multi-layer draperies consisting of opaque curtains and two-color curtains, or tulle, curtains and lambrequin.
At the same time, you should not use more than three colors in window decoration - the decor will be too colorful. It is better to dilute plain fabrics with colored borders, borders, and tiebacks. You can use tulle and curtains in contrasting colors and visually combine these elements with a lambrequin.
Advice: if the lambrequin and tulle have a print, then it is better to dilute them with plain curtains.
When choosing fabric for framing wide windows, you should check how it will look in the given room. Since the opening is large and a lot of light enters the room through it, you can make curtains from a dense material that slightly blocks the light flux
Light transparent tulle on massive windows will look out of place, distracting attention. Therefore, it is better to complement it with thicker curtains, and even a lambrequin
If the window has incorrect proportions or an ugly frame, these defects should be masked when decorating. A low and wide design can be hidden if each of the curtains with drapery partially overlaps the adjacent wall.
An opening that is too long can be visually broken into parts using several sets of curtains. This will give the impression that there are several regularly shaped windows in the room.
Tip: Austrian curtains hide the size of windows well. Made from opaque fabric and complemented with other draperies, they allow you to visually adjust the proportions of the structure.
Triangular windows and their design options
Even for non-standard frames there is always a choice of several decor options. Success is guaranteed if you follow certain rules. In the case of triangular frames, the best, most harmonious framing options for them are recognized as follows:
- Classic;
- Pleated;
- Blinds;
- One-sided "asymmetry".
Which cornice suits the best curtains for slanting windows?
The advantages and disadvantages of various types of window openings are revealed depending on which fastening to choose. There are several forms of cornices.
- Round cornice. Made of metal or wood - according to individual preferences. Such fasteners are usually made in a very sophisticated, designer manner. Therefore, it is not customary to hide them behind fabric. When purchasing this fittings, keep in mind that the round cornice will be very noticeable; do not “overload” the structure with frills, lace, velor, etc.
- Straight cornice. An excellent choice if the height above the frames allows you to place a straight partition. The undoubted advantage of the straight form is its simplicity and simplicity in everyday life. It is the straight shape that is best complemented with a variety of accessories.
- A cornice that follows the shape of a window. At the moment, this is one of the most unusual and at the same time spectacular solutions. It can also be dictated by the natural need to minimize empty areas, make the window and curtain fastenings tighter: this situation is repeated in attic rooms and with low ceilings. The halves can be partially fixed or completely motionless.
Curtains for roof and sloped windows
Attic windows are a problem area even for an experienced designer. The windows here can not only be of unusual shape, but also located at an angle.
Pleated curtains, attic roller curtains, decorative curtains with lambrequins, secured with additional rods, holders, tiebacks and hooks are best suited for textile decoration.
