How to choose the right height for a kitchen table and chair?
Many sellers confidently state that the height of kitchen chairs and tables is standard too. But in practice this is not always the case, because people are different by nature, some have longer arms, some have shorter ones, and so on. What is the height according to GOST?
If the height of the table is, say, 90 cm, then the height of the stool should be about 55 cm; if the height of the table is about 1 m, the height of the chair is correspondingly approximately 60 cm.
Children have their own standards:
with a child’s height up to 1.16 m, the table height is 46, and the stools are 26 cm;
with a height of 1.20 m - 53 and 31 cm, respectively;
with a height of 1.40 m - table 59, chair 35 cm;
with a height of 1.50 m - 64 and 38.
Tabletop width
The standard tabletop width is 600 mm. This is due to the depth of the lower sections of the set and the size of the built-in elements (sinks, hobs).
The width of the kitchen countertop refers to the distance separating the wall and the outer edge of the facade. A 20 mm overhang is added to this figure. The lower tiers of the tabletop usually have a depth of 550 to 560 mm. The depth of the tabletop fronts is 18-22 mm. Don't forget about the 20mm overhang.
On a note! The tabletop can be wider, for example, if it is not possible to install it tightly to the wall or the client wants to make a larger canopy over the facade.
Narrow modifications are also found. They are usually equipped with L-shaped kitchen units. The wing, which has a width of 60 cm, is allocated for the sink and hob, and the second one is narrow, saving space.

Rules for choosing by height
The standard sizes of stools are designed for an average human height of 1.65 m. These sizes are clearly not suitable for tall people and children. There is a single formula by which you can calculate the required height of a stool for an individual:
where P is the individual height of a person in centimeters, 75 is the standard height of a table, 165 is the average height of a person in centimeters, 35 is the difference between the height of a table and a stool.
But for a family where several people live, including children, this formula needs to be slightly modified.
Instead of the standard average value of 165, the arithmetic mean of the heights of all family members is taken.
If all these calculations are tedious and complicated, here are some tips for choosing:
when a person sits on a stool, his feet should be free on the floor, and his knees should be bent exactly at an angle of 90 degrees;

When determining the overall and functional dimensions of household furniture, it is necessary to be guided by the standards “Domestic Furniture. Functional dimensions" (GOST 13025.1 - GOST 13025.18).
They are installed in accordance with anthropometric characteristics and taking into account the size, quantity and rational placement of household items. The dimensions of products and individual elements that are not specified by standards are established by the designs for this product.
Below are the functional dimensions of the main furniture products.
The dimensions of the compartments for storing clothes and hats must correspond to those shown in Fig. 1.
The depth of the compartments for storing hats must be at least 240 mm. The distance from the floor to the top edge of the rod or to the working surface of the top hook is no more than 1900 mm (it can be greater if the cabinet is equipped with special devices that ensure ease of use of the product - a lever for lowering and raising the rod, etc.).

The functional dimensions of chairs, work chairs, sofa beds, lounge chairs, chair beds, stools, beds and mattresses are regulated by GOST 13025.2 (the standard does not apply to metal beds, ottomans, couches and folding chairs).
The dimensions of chairs and work chairs must correspond to those shown in Fig. 4.

Note that by normal we mean a backrest, the upper edge of which is located above the seat at a distance of more than 320 mm, and by lumbar we mean a backrest, the upper edge of which is located above the seat at a distance of no more than 320 mm. The functional dimensions of tables are determined in accordance with GOST 13025.3, which applies to dining tables, kitchen dining tables, desks, secretaries, as well as products for installing televisions (except for compartments for installing televisions in multi-purpose cabinets).
The dimensions of dining and kitchen dining tables, as well as seating at the table, are shown in Fig. 7.
In rectangular dining tables with a lid length of at least 1200 mm, the distance between the legs along the longitudinal axis must be at least 910 mm (for installing two chairs).
The dimensions of the seat at the kitchen dining table are allowed to be at least 500x300 mm. The dimensions of the table cover are determined depending on the number of seats. The functional dimensions of drawers and compartments for storing cutlery and linen are taken in accordance with GOST 13025.1 (see Table 3).
The dimensions of desks and secretaries are shown in Fig. 8.
The distance between the front edge of the table cover and the depth-limiting element must be at least 400 mm. The distance from the floor to the working plane of products for performing typewritten work, work on a computer and other organizational equipment is at least 680 mm.
The internal dimensions of boxes and half-drawers for papers must be at least 340×240 mm, and their depth - 65 mm. (The depth is taken to be the distance from the bottom to the structural element that limits the height of the stored items.) But the indicated dimensions do not apply to boxes intended for storing pencils, feathers, and erasers.
Children's furniture is made in several sizes, taking into account the average height of children. Thus, tables and chairs are made in five numbers: 00; 0; 1; 2; 3 respectively for the average height of children 750; 900; 1050; 1200; 1350 mm.

Blade thickness
Having mentioned weight, we can’t help but say a few words about the different thickness options for kitchen countertops. There are several options, but in kitchens they mainly use moisture-resistant ones with a thickness of 38 mm. However, there are also models with a width of up to 60 mm.
Acrylic worktops can vary greatly in the thickness of the front strip, however the standard sheet of material is 12mm thick. To increase the thickness, use plywood or chipboard - with their help, the tabletop takes on a more solid appearance.
As for such a material as glass. Glass countertops vary significantly in thickness. Thus, a glass dining table, as a rule, has a thickness of about 8 mm, and a glass work surface should be at least 16 mm thick. In some models, the working surface is additionally reinforced with a backing for greater strength.
In a stone countertop, the thickness and depth parameters vary based on the purpose of this piece of furniture. Relatively thin models are suitable for use in the dining area. If the canvas is intended to be used as a work surface, the tabletop must be thick and durable enough, this will be the key to reliable operation of the product for many years. However, it is not worth equating durability with thickness. Any table, even the thickest one, is subject to mechanical deformation. For example, a tabletop made of laminated fabric can easily be damaged, since the thickness of the plastic itself is only a few millimeters. Therefore, the headset should be used carefully.
