Classic sofa in the interior
Traditionally, sofas are made from noble wood species: mahogany, cherry, oak, ash, beech and others. Genuine leather, silk, satin and other expensive materials can be used as upholstery. Typically, such furniture is produced in a traditional straight design, but our assortment also includes island models. Furnishings with light and elegant hand-carved elements look original. The classic sofa will fit perfectly into the interior of the living room, bedroom, office, and reception area.
From us you can not only purchase carved sofas from the catalog, but also order the production of wooden furniture according to an individual project, which will take no more than 3 months. You can choose the material of the frame and upholstery, color and decor of the piece of furniture yourself, thanks to which it will become a real decoration of your interior.
Carved wooden beds
Carved furniture looks great in the interior of any room; a wooden bed in a classic style, which is relevant at all times, is especially suitable for a bedroom. Beds in the Rococo or Baroque style with interesting fancy elements are in demand. Carved wood decor can be unobtrusive or, conversely, striking.
Before ordering a bed, you need to take into account the bedroom design and color scheme. If the classic style predominates in the bedroom, then the headboard is made with openwork carvings and panels. For the Baroque style, massive headboards with elegant carvings are made. The height of the headboard is also made in accordance with the interior of the bedroom. The high back greatly demonstrates the beauty of the wood and the originality of the master's design. The style of the legs of the bed should match the headboard.

Making carved furniture
The wood processing process requires perfect precision and attention. The work of a master associated with artistic carving is very responsible and complex. Despite the high cost of handmade furniture, quite a lot of people want to purchase exclusive luxury items. Various types of carvings are used to make solid wood furniture:
- embossed;
- flat-relief;
- contour;
- geometric;
- slotted;
- invoice;
- sculptural.
Carved decor for furniture serves as an excellent complement to wooden furniture with carved facades. Decorations include carved furniture legs, rosettes, balusters, platbands and other elements. Furniture facades are finished with varnish, gilding, and patina.
Carvers make custom tables, chairs, wardrobes, beds, sofas, armchairs, made in a wide variety of styles. Carved solid furniture is produced both in a classic style, similar to an ancient one, and in rustic, ethical, gothic and others.
What is important to know when starting wood carving
The basis of any applied creative process is the correct choice of tools that will help in the work. There is no one universal device. But, if you approach the issue wisely, you can choose the required minimum. So, the main set may include:
- carving knives;
- needle files;
- flat, semicircular, V-shaped chisels;
- hacksaw for metal;
- medium size vise;
- emery disc;
- electric drill;
- various drills and bars.
An equally important and complex issue is the choice of wood. Several factors need to be taken into account. For example, soft wood species (birch, linden, aspen, etc.) are easy to work with, but this property can also serve as a bad service - if you do not calculate the pressure, you can make a larger cut than necessary. Mahogany, beech, oak, and boxwood have hard wood, but the tool may not withstand strong pressure and break.
Craftsmen recommend using wood from coniferous trees (pine, spruce) for slotted and contour carvings. But applying threads across growth rings will not be entirely convenient, since the material in the rings has different densities. And yet, for beginning woodcarvers, conifers, as well as pear, aspen, and linden are the best choice.
Solid wood chair
A classic wooden chair with voluminous carvings will decorate any apartment. But it is made from a single tree trunk. Of course, finding such material for furniture is not easy, but it is possible.
Please note that it is better to harvest wood in autumn or winter. Then there is less chance that it will crack during drying.
What do you need for work?
- Dried tree trunk.
- Chainsaw.
- Electric jigsaw.
- Grinder with attachments of different grain sizes.
- Chisels and cutters for wood carving.
- A simple pencil.
- Ruler.
- Stain.
- Varnish.
To make a soft seat and backrest decor, take thin plywood, foam rubber, decorative and technical textiles, and use a furniture stapler.
Description of work
- We remove all excess with a chainsaw, giving the wood the approximate outline of a chair with a back.
- Using a plane and a sander we smooth out the most noticeable unevenness of the wooden workpiece.
- Using a jigsaw, we make side cuts in the lower part, indicating the presence of four legs. Next, give the legs the desired shape.
- We draw the future drawing on the back of the chair with a simple pencil. We recommend using a stencil to make the pattern symmetrical.
- Using an electric jigsaw, we make cuts, removing excess wood.
- Use a chainsaw to cut a hole in the seat for a soft insert. To make it convenient to install it, we form a small (about 1-1.5 cm) step.
- Use a knife and chisel to give the legs the desired shape. We polish them.
- We use special cutters and chisels to give the pattern a smooth and rounded shape.
- We carefully sand the entire workpiece. We remove dust and dirt before applying the varnish coating.
- We cover the product with stain. Leave to dry.
- Apply 2 layers of furniture varnish alternately. Apply each subsequent layer only after the one already applied has completely dried (after 24 hours).
- Cut out a seat and an oval insert for the back from thin plywood.
- Glue 5 mm foam rubber onto the plywood blanks.
- Cover the soft part of the back and seat with decorative fabric, securing it on the reverse side with staples using a furniture stapler.
- Cover the back side of the soft part of the seat with technical fabric.
- Using glue, install the soft parts in place. Fix until completely dry.

Wood for chairs
When choosing a material for making carved chairs, many factors are taken into account, from appearance to mechanical features.
Choosing wood by color
It is believed that furniture in dark shades is especially luxurious: mahogany, wenge, ebony, black walnut are considered elite and expensive types of wood. Chairs and furniture in dark shades dominate the rich palace interiors. Light shades of wood require darker wall designs so that the carved details do not blend into the room. The following color classification is used:
- inky and dark brown - ebony, rosewood, ginkalo, amaranth;
- chocolate and dark brown – zebrano, wenge, walnut;
- red – cherry, yarra, jatoba, kempas, merbau;
- light brown and ocher yellow – oak, teak, cedar, larch, alder;
Alder chair made in medieval style - light sand and cream - beech, pine, maple, birch, ash.
Of course, you should always remember that the natural shade can be changed using a variety of tints, varnishes, and stains to achieve a darker color.
Wood drawing
When choosing materials for making carved chairs and other pieces of furniture, the structure of the wood is very important. Thus, wood with a bright pattern needs a more restrained monochromatic wall color, and furniture with a uniform structure will look more impressive in a more decorative environment.
According to the expressiveness of the structure, wood is divided into:
- weakly expressed - alder, beech, ebony, wenge;
- pattern in the form of stripes - teak, ginkano, rosewood, zebrawood;
- rings – oak, cherry, maple, ash.
You can make wood show its design more clearly using various means: brushing, artificial aging, staining.
Wood Density
Hardwoods are very strong, durable and moisture resistant. However, such high-strength rocks are usually very difficult to process and have a high price. Soft wood is cheaper, easier to cut, polish and accept any treatment, but the strength of such a product will be noticeably lower. The classification of rocks by hardness is as follows:
- very soft - pine, cedar, linden;
- moderately soft – birch, aspen;
- moderately hard - walnut, oak, beech, cherry, larch;
- hard - hornbeam, maple, ash and most exotic species.
