Bathroom

Alyona

Decorating a bathroom with artificial stone is a new, original alternative to the usual ceramic tiles. A surface finished with stone always looks luxurious, rich and elegant. In addition, the material reliably protects the room from dampness and mold. The best place to place such material would be a bathroom or a combined bathroom.

Features of use

Walls covered with granite, marble or onyx look noble. A more affordable option is to use artificial stone, which has a very rich palette of shades. The agglomerate material can imitate the texture of any natural stones, allowing you to find the desired shade. Thanks to artificial stone, you can create the feeling of a complete surface without seams or joints.

Artificial stone finishing is endowed with not only decorative capabilities. This material is used to make furniture for:

  • bathrooms;
  • countertops;
  • lockers;
  • shelves and plumbing fixtures.

Containers made of artificial materials

Modern technologies accurately reproduce the colors and textures of natural materials, so bathtubs made of artificial stone are practically no different in appearance from their counterparts.

In addition, they have similar performance properties, are cheaper and weigh much less, which allows them to be used more widely in creating interiors.

Types of finishing stone materials

To create a bathroom interior, you can use any type of artificial stone. The following types of stone have gained popularity:

Artificial stone - an alternative to ceramic tiles

  • Chipped with irregularities - sometimes this model can have sharp edges. It has a huge decorative function and looks very interesting on the walls, but the installation of such a coating must be trusted to specialists.
  • Sawed - has smooth, even cuts. Therefore, working with it is much easier and more convenient than with the prickly look. With such a stone, the interior will always look noble and elegant.
  • Natural is a natural material made from various rocks. It makes the interior really chic and expensive.
  • Imitation is the most popular type, which in appearance may not differ in any way from natural breeds, depending on the chosen variety.

Combination of materials

Wood goes well with almost any materials, including those imitating it. Therefore, bathroom design using combinations opens up a lot of scope for imagination:

  • Wood may not be the main, but an additional element in the design of the room. For example, you can make shelves or cabinets for the bathroom from boards, and lay out the rest with tiles. The use of wood as a decorative element will add a special charm to the interior. Natural material also looks appropriate when decorating a shower stall.

USEFUL INFORMATION: Decorative boxes for radiators

  • You can do it differently: cover the opposite walls with clapboard or boards, and cover the other pair with panels. Lay out the floor with tiles. This design looks very unusual.

You can select the panels so that they are practically indistinguishable from the boards or, conversely, are their complete opposite in tone.

  • There is another option: a wooden bathtub or sink, with tiles or panels on the walls.

With a competent approach to decorating a wood-look bathroom, you can easily combine several styles and make the room cozy, functional and comfortable.

Recommendations for bathroom design

When choosing artificial stone, you must always remember that this material shades the room and makes it gloomy. Therefore, it is necessary to think through the future lighting of the room in advance.

One light on the ceiling may not be enough. A person will have the feeling that he is in a stone bag. Therefore, it is better to create multi-level lighting that will brighten all the dark corners in the bathroom.

Dark stone cladding in the bathroom is inappropriate. The room can simply turn into a crypt, especially if it is small. If you really like the black variety, then it is advisable to combine it with the light one, giving preference to the latter.

Sometimes the dark color of the walls can be set off by the contrast of light elements of the floor and ceiling coverings, furniture or plumbing fixtures.

It is enough to decorate one wall

To make the masonry and interior of the bathroom more comfortable, you need to place pots or tubs with green plants in this room. Palm trees and tropical types of plants that suit a humid atmosphere look good in the bathroom. You can try placing high-quality imitation plants in a stone bathtub.

In small bathrooms of multi-storey buildings, you should not use the material to decorate the entire room. It is necessary to allocate small areas of the room for this. They can be a floor, a part of a wall, a bathroom lining, a finished sink, a niche decoration, and others.

Completely stone walls in a small room often do not look very aesthetically pleasing. If there is such a need for finishing, you need to choose light materials. It is advisable to choose glossy surfaces so that they can visually expand the space.

It is very important to follow the rule of compatibility of materials. If you combine finishing materials unsuccessfully, the room will visually look smaller than it actually is.

Cozy option with fireplace

Luxurious royal apartments in the bathroom can be created using marble or granite masonry. For this you need to choose tiles in neutral shades or pastel colors.

To expand the space, corner countertops, bathtubs, and shelves are used in combination with a calm, light design.

Quartz agglomerate is chosen for the bathroom because of the ability of this material to provide an even, smooth surface without joints, seams or joints. Therefore, such material can be placed on the floor to implement interesting design solutions or create the effect of a self-leveling floor.

Use quartz agglomerate

Who needs to use concrete in design?

Concrete tiles, it would seem, should be very unattractive, spoiling the entire appearance of the interior. But that's not true. Far from it. With the right design for the rest of the space, the tiles will look incredibly beautiful and minimalistic. This is an ideal material for creating a loft-style room design, in which all details and materials look as casual as possible, which allows you to concentrate on what is more important. We recommend this coating to create a base for other interior details and decorations or to highlight it.

Concrete tiles create a dynamic urban atmosphere that will appeal to most modern people who keep up with the times. Speaking from a construction point of view, this material is good because it is very durable, easily fits into any pattern, and, of course, has a universal appearance, non-staining, so dirt and stains on it will not be very noticeable. Cleaning concrete tiles is quite easy; you can simply wipe them occasionally with a rag or sponge to maintain their original appearance.

The advantages of such coverage include the following points:

  • Original design and universal appearance that will suit almost any room. A material such as concrete contrasts well with wood panels and other elements. Also, metal and glass fit perfectly into such an interior, which can give an unusual stylish look to the entire room.
  • Since it is created from porcelain stoneware, both strength and durability in this case will be at their best. This material is distinguished by the fact that it does not absorb moisture at all, so a special glue must be selected for it, preferably not cement-based. But we will talk about the choice of glue below. If porcelain stoneware itself is quite glossy, as it is polished, then when made to look like concrete, it is given a rough texture and matte gray color.
  • Laying this tile is quite simple, but it is still a little more complicated than standard tiles, since its elements are most often made in an oblong rectangular shape. The advantage in this case is that the coating has fewer joints, which means that there will be fewer places where dirt could accumulate. In general, the color in which concrete tiles are painted is excellent for those rooms where there is a constant risk of staining something, so we recommend such tiles for kitchens and hallways in particular.

Concrete-look ceramic tiles were created specifically for those people who do not want to bother creating a design. This is a very brutal and simple coating, which can then be changed in every possible way. Such tiles can be painted, patterned, or given a different shape - concrete tiles are the basis for imagination. It is an excellent design solution for any room, any house or apartment.

Operating rules

To make the bathroom interior successful and perfect, you can use the following rules for combining artificial stone:

  • Increasing the number of light sources. Even light stone shades absorb light and reduce the level of illumination in the bathroom. Therefore, light needs to be added.
  • The dark type must be alternated with light materials.
  • In very narrow rooms it is not recommended to use such decoration, as it adds gloom, but this does not apply to bathroom fixtures.
  • It is always necessary to remember a sense of proportion when using decorative stone, so as not to accidentally turn the bathroom into a kind of cave.
  • Properly used rough stone on the walls can become the highlight of the room. It needs to be softened with delicate details and smooth shapes of interior items.
  • Living plants are in perfect harmony with the stone, creating an atmosphere of living nature in the bathroom. The sound of flowing water, stone surfaces and green foliage will combine to energize a person and provide true relaxation and rest.
  • Imitation of natural stone harmonizes perfectly with wooden surfaces. But when choosing such a finish for a bathroom, you need to make sure that the wood has a special impregnation that protects it from water.

Cave illusion

Advice Decorative stone can go well with both natural and artificial materials, depending on its type. It can be successfully combined with mirrors and metal.

How to register correctly

Natural materials are used as the basis for design: concrete, brick, and sometimes wood. Rough textures and lots of varied lighting with aged items are typical for any room in this style.

It is important to use natural materials or their imitation in design

Floor

The surface is poured with concrete or tiled. Imitation of natural stone or wood in a dark color looks modern in the bathroom. Plain ceramic tiles without any patterns in a light color expand the room.

Self-leveling floors are used from a practical point of view. The insulation is pre-installed, which is poured with concrete or covered with tiles.

Most often, the floor is tiled to look like wood or filled with concrete.

Ceiling

Sometimes it is laid out with concrete slabs. There are ceilings completely covered with pipes or metal frames. The ceiling can simply be painted white, which, in contrast with the floor, will also expand the small room.

Walls

Concrete walls are common in lofts

Brick is gradually becoming a thing of history, but remains popular. Imitation finishing is suitable for a budget option. Sometimes all types of finishes are combined.

The bath area is decorated with ceramic tiles, the area for drying and short water procedures is decorated with concrete masonry or brick. Using wooden panels for a combined bathtub is risky; such finishing material will not last long.

Functional areas can be decorated with different materials

Light

The light source can be not only overhead lighting. It is carried out around the entire perimeter of the room. Sealed ceiling lights can be used. Although the loft is characterized by vintage light bulbs on cords.

I mount the lamps so that the light diffuses and does not make the room too bright. The mirror area is illuminated a little brighter.

Do not use bright, cold-colored light. It irritates and interferes with relaxation and rest.

Plumbing

Plumbing fixtures can be purchased from ordinary ceramics. However, brass, iron, wood or marble look aesthetically pleasing in a loft. Buy a bathtub or shower to save space.

The sink is made to order. It is placed on a marble or wooden console. Furniture includes cabinets or shelves for bath accessories.

Ceramic, metal and marble plumbing looks good

Decor

Artificial trees or plants wouldn't hurt in the bathroom. Shelves with imitation branches. Textiles include towels and a bathrobe. All necessary hygiene items are hidden in a hidden cabinet. The technique must correspond to the urban style. A thin rug is laid on the floor at the entrance and next to the bathtub.

Positive finishing qualities

Despite the fact that decorative material is much cheaper than natural material, it has a fairly high price compared to other types of finishing. However, its cost is justified by numerous positive features:

  • originality of the material;
  • moisture resistance, protection from dampness and mold;
  • durability, wear resistance;
  • ability to withstand significant loads and mechanical impacts; resistance to damage;
  • low heat transfer ability;
  • absence of radioactive background, which can often occur when choosing natural stone;
  • the presence of a protective layer;
  • simplicity and accessibility of maintenance and operation.

Can go well with natural materials

Decorating a bathroom with artificial stone can be different:

  • wall decoration is a classic way;
  • decorating the floor or ceiling is a bold idea;
  • A solution that is gaining popularity is the manufacture of furniture and sanitary ware.

A wide range of varieties of decorative materials makes it possible to realize any design idea. Many furniture and plumbing manufacturers who deal with artificial stone can implement custom-made projects. You can independently think through the design of the bathtub and sink, come up with the shape of the countertop and make your bathroom interior stylish and individual.

Wall decoration is a classic way

Ideas for a loft in the bathroom

Concrete

The main material that makes the loft so unique is concrete. Its uniqueness lies in its diversity. Dark or light. Covering a plane with a single contour or divided into blocks. Smooth or porous and voluminous. On walls, floor or ceiling. Concrete countertop or sink. If you wish, you can literally roll the entire bathroom into concrete (although it is better not to do this):

Choosing a loft as a style for a bathroom opens the way to a huge variety of concrete tiles. But not all of it is good. What to pay attention to:

  1. The larger the size, the better it looks.
  2. The edge must be carved, otherwise the seams are too wide.
  3. Matte or semi-matte texture. The gloss is bad.

I analyzed in detail which tiles to choose for the bathroom. Well, at the same time, look at finishing the bathroom with tiles.

And most importantly: a loft-style bathroom does not have to be dark. Light gray tones are no worse. And because Most bathrooms are small, which is even better. About the design of small bathrooms and many photos of bathrooms with a toilet.

The second way to get the effect of concrete is decorative plaster. It holds water and damp well and is ideal for the bathroom. But not on the walls directly next to the sink and bathtub. There is still too much water and dirt there. The plaster can be divided into slabs with imitation rivets. The effect is cool.

An interesting topic for concrete is self-leveling flooring. Typically, self-leveling concrete floors are used in industrial premises, hardware stores and other places with heavy loads. But it can also be considered for a bathroom in a loft.

Tree

And gray in general and concrete in particular go well with wood. The second mandatory attribute of a loft bathroom is wood-look tiles and other wooden textures.

Please note that the color of the wood must match the color of the concrete . For light gray shades, light yellow wood is suitable. For dark gray and black, it is better to choose dark brown. Don’t forget to read how to choose a tile grout according to color; the seams should not be white.

It doesn’t matter whether the tabletop is tile or chipboard, wood should be imitated as realistically as possible. In addition to the pattern of sawn knots and wooden veins, there is also a texture, which also should not be flat. The more heterogeneous the texture, the better the material is perceived both visually and tactilely.

Natural solid wood looks the coolest, for example in a countertop under a sink. Not a single imitation will look like this.

Although it may seem that wood brings a retro touch to the design, this is not the case at all. The loft has many variations, and even in the most modern ones turning into high-tech, wood remains relevant.

Wooden elements are also standard for a Scandinavian-style bathroom, only there they are combined with white.

False brickwork

Standard red brick is associated specifically with old classic lofts. Nowadays it is used less and less often, and in bathrooms even rarely. No matter how we achieve the effect of old masonry, whether with real bricks or thin concrete decorative stone stylized to resemble it, such a surface will not be practical.

An impractical surface means that it is inconvenient to hang or build anything on it (even sockets). Due to excessive heterogeneity, everything is hung with gaps, and the only option for proper installation is to cut a hole to fit and mount it on the wall. This is labor-intensive and difficult to do perfectly.

In addition, brick is not waterproof and is susceptible to dirt and mold. The primer partially helps, but not 100%. In general, red brick only if you are willing to take risks.

More modern loft variations typically use white painted brick in the bathroom. The paint is applied imperfectly and creates the effect of deliberate negligence. Such painted brick is not only much more practical, but also better suited for real bathrooms. With red there is too much chance of making a mistake with the color combination. Such white brick in the bathroom can look either rough or gentle, depending on the surrounding situation.

Light

The main feature that distinguishes unsuccessful loft bathrooms from those cool photos from the Internet is lighting. Dark, uneven and rough surfaces look cool under the light. Proper lighting is important for bathrooms in any style, but in a loft it is the main character without which everything else makes no sense.

A large amount of different light is a mandatory attribute of a loft, not an addition.

We are accustomed to the fact that the main light is overhead. They built spotlights into the ceiling and forgot about it. In fact, this is the most boring and primitive, even technical light. When cleaning or beauty treatments, overhead light is really needed. But when we are just brushing our teeth or lying in the bathroom, dots and bright lights in general only irritate us.

2 other types of light: hidden from LED strips and wall sconces. If you like modern loft options in bathrooms, add as much hidden light as possible. For old-fashioned themes, there are many cool retro sconces stylized to resemble all sorts of copper pipes and other attributes of steampunk.

The main thing is not to use standard mass-market lamps. They destroy the brutal, timeless image created by the loft-style design.

Sink and faucet

The easiest way to spoil the right atmosphere is to install an ordinary washbasin and a single-lever mixer. This can easily happen due to the desire to save money. Photo as it shouldn't be:

There are 2 correct types of sinks for a loft-style bathroom:

  1. Overhead sink bowl.
  2. Themed concrete sink/countertop.

The first point is clear, simple and cheap. We just go to the store and buy a ready-made sink. Fortunately, the choice of bowls is now huge and they don’t break the bank. You will have to spend extra money on a countertop and a faucet built into the wall. But I warned you that loft is not a cheap design style. In any case, it’s worth it, and it’s good to use built-in faucets whenever your budget allows.

The option with a concrete sink and countertop is not just expensive - it is complex and exclusive. Now there is some choice of ready-made solutions, but as a rule you will have to look for manufacturers yourself. If your budget allows, do it. A concrete sink is one of those style-defining things that will not leave anyone indifferent. It's details like these that are worth the bother.

By the way, we are in:

How to choose artificial stone?

When choosing a material, you must first look at its appearance. Its front surface should be free of chips, scratches or cracks, as well as brush marks. Dents or bulges on the surface are allowed, but they should not be more than 5 mm.

Advice It is always necessary to focus on price when choosing. This material has a high cost, so if you see a low price, you should definitely ask the seller for a quality certificate. In the absence of such a document, you risk purchasing low-quality and short-lived material.

Another nuance is that products made from decorative stone may seem identical at first glance. It is sometimes very difficult even for a specialist to visually distinguish a cheap counterfeit from a quality product.

Therefore, only accompanying documents can serve as a guarantee of quality. Products from large companies with a well-known name usually have markings on the back, which is also considered a guarantee of quality.

In beige tones

In terms of types, you need to choose a stone that will be in harmony with the rest of the decoration or interior items. When choosing a light-colored stone for the bathroom, the interior will look noble and sophisticated.

Dark colors make the interior strict and laconic. But too much dark color will make the space gloomy. A type of stone with a speckled pattern will help disguise water stains. And on white surfaces scratches will be less noticeable.

Bath

The largest item in the bathroom is the bathtub itself. Even this attribute can be made from artificial stone.

A monolithic block of stone will make the interior special, clearly different from the rest. Moreover, it can be created according to individual designs. The process of using such a bath brings wonderful tactile sensations, and also provides psychological relief, making the atmosphere special.

Artificial material lends itself well to processing. This is why you can create the most incredible bathroom designs using your own designs. Although there is a huge assortment of different original and unusual models on sale.

The material is easy to process

There are many advantages to such baths. In addition to those listed, there is another compelling argument in favor of stone plumbing. This idea is relatively new, it is not yet common and has not yet become boring.

Initially, this material is a very plastic mass, which consists of quartz sand or granite chips, a catalyst and polyester resin. This combination allows the material to take absolutely any shape before hardening. Manufacturers have already purchased special equipment for these purposes. When the material hardens, it goes through a stage of grinding and additional processing.

An artificial stone bathtub has the following properties:

  • unusual appearance and interesting shape;
  • low heat transfer ability - helps maintain temperature longer;
  • coating with protection against bacteria;
  • the product does not require additional support;
  • has good sound insulation.

This material is a very plastic mass

Tip You can use artificial stone to tile the bathtub. To do this, a special box is built around an ordinary bathtub, which is covered with fragments of stone.

Sinks

Stone washbasins are distinguished by a combination of beauty and high durability. A wide variety of colors allows you to choose different items suitable for any setting. Sinks can be made in absolutely any shape.

Stone washbasins have a special gelcoat coating that protects the surface from abrasion. In addition, the surface under the protective layer becomes perfectly smooth without pores.

Characterized by a combination of beauty and high strength

There are such types of shells depending on the shape:

  • square;
  • rectangular;
  • round;
  • oval.

The color of plumbing products may also differ:

  • sinks are created with an imitation of natural stone, quartz and marble in beige, pink, and brown shades;
  • There are sinks made of stone in standard colors for plumbing - white and black;
  • Shells are produced in bright colors - red, yellow, blue.

Interesting shell shape

Sinks are divided according to the type of countertop fastening:

  • Floor-standing - have support in the form of legs or a stand and allow height adjustment. The floor-standing version can be mounted on a cabinet or cabinet with shelves.
  • Wall-mounted models are lightweight and light in size, and are attached to the wall using anchors. Fastening can be done before finishing the walls during repairs or after it, depending on the type of work.
  • Corner sinks made of cast stone can be of any type, they can be mounted on the wall or placed on a stand.
  • Washbasins integrated into the countertop are a continuous fabric without seam joints or transitions between the countertop and the sink.

Interesting, square shape

Work order

Let's start studying the process of working with decorative plaster. In general, it is similar to ordinary plastering of a wall to level it, so it will be easier for those craftsmen who have already had experience in such work.

Removing old coating

The first thing to do is to clean the wall of the old decorative coating. It's quite simple to do this:

  • wallpaper and a thin layer of plaster are first moistened with water and, after softening, removed with a spatula;
  • a thick layer of plaster, firmly attached to the wall, is knocked down with a hammer, chisel, or spatula;
  • The paint is removed in one way or another depending on the type of coating. In some cases, part of the paint layer can be left.

As soon as the old coating is removed, the wall must be cleaned of its residues and dust. This is done using sandpaper and a damp cloth.

The “bubbling” layer of paint can be easily removed with a spatula

Please note: if the old paint layer cannot be completely removed, you can try plastering directly over it. To do this, it is necessary to increase the adhesion of the wall surface (for example, with a special primer).

Wall surface repair

When the previous coating disappears from the wall, you will most likely see cracks, chips and other defects on its surface. Before applying decorative plaster, they will have to be repaired.

Cracks in the walls are repaired using a special technology

This is done like this:

  1. Cracks or chips widen and deepen as much as possible;
  2. Dust is cleaned out of them;
  3. The primer fills the existing voids;
  4. Defects are repaired with a special repair mortar for walls;
  5. After the solution has dried, the surface is cleaned and sanded.

If defects are not removed from the wall surface, there is a high probability that they will become visible through the plaster over time.

Applying primer

Next, the walls are primed for finishing. It is necessary to prevent the appearance of mold, fungi, and insects under the finish coating.

Applying primer to a concrete wall

Apply the mixture carefully with a roller, smoothing out smudges, in several layers. Each new layer is applied only after the previous one has dried! Most often, it is enough to apply the solution three times; the next stage can be started only after the wall has completely dried.

Preparation of the solution

Each package of decorative plaster mixture must contain instructions for its preparation.

Advice: you can choose a ready-made plastic version of the mixture - it will cost many times more, but you can save time and nerves.

The solution is mixed as follows:

  1. In accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, the required amount of water is poured into the mixing container;
  2. The dry mixture is added to the water (in no case vice versa!) and stirred thoroughly in a circular motion. The mixture should be added in two or three stages;
  3. After the mixture becomes homogeneous, it is left to “simmer” for another five minutes;
  4. Before starting plastering, the solution is mixed again.

Important: it is very difficult to mix decorative concrete by hand. For this purpose, it is recommended to purchase a construction mixer or a special drill attachment.

Pay attention to the designation of the plasticity time of the mixture before it dries. If you forget about the mortar and start working too late, it will have time to “pull together” and you will have to mix the plaster again. The amount of mixture diluted depends on this factor.

Ideas for a stone bathroom

For inspiration, you can use several existing ideas:

  • Choosing a cement palette to decorate the bathroom makes the mood of this room masculine and brutal. This design with the arrangement of a large mirror and details that match the tone of the main color is more reminiscent of the minimalist style.
  • Imitation marble combined with sophisticated pieces of furniture and sanitary ware will create a sophisticated atmosphere in the bathroom. The combination of marble with black glossy surfaces and white details will look harmonious. This technique emphasizes the beauty of marble.
  • A combination of wood and stone in wall decoration.

Interesting colors

  • Marble in beige and brown shades makes the room warm and cozy. When combined with glass surfaces and shower doors, the material makes the room spacious and weightless.
  • An artificial finish is a great way to decorate a bathroom in an eco-style. You can use imitation pebbles in combination with a variety of green plants placed in pots or bamboo decorations.
  • Dark gray material will fit perfectly into youth styles. The semblance of a brick wall will serve as an excellent backdrop for placing bright pop art posters and Art Nouveau accessories.
  • For complete harmony with nature in the bathroom, you can order sanitary ware made of stone, shaped like river pebbles. The products usually have rounded edges, which makes their appearance very unusual and interesting.

Rustic style

  • Marble sinks placed on top of the countertop will add luxury to the interior.
  • An interesting solution for walls would be stone mosaic.
  • On the free wall above the bathtub you can place stone panels or an abstraction image on stone slabs.

Proven plasters

To make it easier for you to navigate among a wide selection of manufacturers and types of concrete-like plasters, study the best options in advance.

The most popular mixtures are from:

  • Russian company Prof Decor;
  • Italian company San Marco;
  • Flex Beton System brand, mixtures of which imitate natural raw materials and various masonry materials;
  • the company RustOnu Ironic, distinguished by the creation of a metallic structure of mixtures;
  • Permuro brand, which creates mixtures with excellent thermal insulation characteristics;
  • budget manufacturers Ceresit and Caparol.

In large construction hypermarkets you can find decorative plaster mixtures to suit any needs in different price categories.

Plastering walls “like concrete” is an original and relatively simple way to introduce notes of high-tech or loft styles into your interior. And its high performance characteristics make this material suitable for use in any premises, both residential and outdoor.

In this video you can see how to create a texture on concrete using stamps:

Decorative concrete in the bathroom is a fashionable and practical solution. “But this bathroom is not finished!” – many guests would have said a few years ago, accompanying the owner around the new apartment, if their eyes had seen a concrete bathroom in its full glory. Today, following the original design, fans of minimalist solutions are increasingly choosing decorative concrete when decorating or renovating their bathrooms.

Why? Properly treated concrete guarantees a perfectly flat surface, is durable and does not absorb water. Consequently, this type of finish provides durability and full functionality that is equal to traditional tiles. In addition, decorative concrete provides a wide range of interior design options, from minimalist style to decorative elegance. Everyone can easily find a use for it in a design that suits their personal preferences.

Compatibility with interior styles

Artificial stone has a noble design, and the variety of its varieties allows this material to be universal and fit into any interior style. You can try to implement one of these styles in your bathroom design:

1 Loft - involves the use of brickwork or finishing with rough, untreated agglomerate on the walls. Sandstone floors and stone furniture will suit him. Although you can use as much material as you like in a loft, certain details should give your eyes a little break from such finishing.

Loft style

2 Rococo, Empire, Baroque are styles that are the embodiment of ostentatious luxury. Therefore, it would be appropriate for them to choose marble or granite finishes, preferably of strict shapes. It should have a glossy shine. Objects made of solid stone add expressiveness to the interior - this could be a bathtub, sink, cabinet, bidet.

Baroque style

3 Techno, high-tech - combine urban inclinations and the use of modern materials. Therefore, quartz agglomerate, processed using modern technologies, with angular or strict shapes will fit into such interiors.

High-tech style

4 Art Nouveau combines smooth lines and natural materials. Therefore, it would be appropriate to use most types of stone in light shades. And modular stone panels would be inappropriate here, since they have regular shapes. Strict outlines and straight lines do not go well with this style.

Art Nouveau style

5 Minimalism - for this style it is appropriate to choose natural shades of stone, as well as textures reminiscent of natural rocks. Glossy surfaces and solid stone plumbing fixtures would be appropriate.

In the style of minimalism

6 Ethnic style - it is necessary to use stone of natural forms as decoration, practically without processing. Wild stone laid with primitive masonry looks good. The decor must be complemented with green indoor plants.

In eco style

  • Classic style involves a combination of basic finishing with wood. Choosing objects of strict shapes, for example, rectangular or oval, will also emphasize it.
  • Rooms in modern styles may include items of non-standard shape, as well as bright colors and contrasting combinations in decoration and accessories.
  • Ethnic, marine style - you can choose round-shaped bathtubs for them.

Classic style

Advice In order not to overload the interior with stone, it is enough to use it as the right accents. The atmosphere will immediately acquire its own character and mood.

Matching colors

Loft is unpretentious to the color scheme

The style solution is designed in cold or warm colors. The color palette is used within the space provided. In a spacious room, light shades expand the room, while dark shades make it cozy. The ceiling and floor are painted or decorated in this sequence.

The walls and the overall solution can be executed in both cold gray and warm colors

The bathroom is designed in several colors. Sometimes there are monochromatic design projects. White color in a loft looks aesthetically pleasing if there is a lot of it or the whole room is designed in this color.

Black carries a strong psychological load, so matte or chrome shades are used. It is rare to find a bathroom in green, and in vain: muted shades in the loft style have a relaxing effect on the psyche.

Red brick mixed with yellow or brown will emphasize the aging of the interior. One wall or most of it should have a floor-to-ceiling stained glass window for the main source of natural color.

The bath should not be a bright contrast in the overall style

Instead of a fence, transparent dense polyethylene or glass is suitable. The bathtub should not contrast with its surroundings. Acceptable colors: white, black, golden brass.

In a loft, the color balance of the finish is important. Bright, harsh details can create an off-putting impression.

Caring for artificial stone

In order for stone finishing, plumbing or furniture to last a long time, it is necessary to provide them with careful care.

To do this, you can use the following tips:

  • Limescale deposits, a faithful companion of bathrooms, are removed from the surface of artificial marble using cleaning products for composite materials. The product is applied to the surface of walls, floors, sinks, bathtubs, left for a few minutes, then washed off with water.
  • Vinegar 2.5% is suitable for emergency cleaning of products. It is also applied to particularly dirty areas for 1-2 minutes, after which it is washed off with water.
  • To clean finishes and objects, use universal detergents that do not contain abrasive particles.
  • After cleaning the artificial material, its surface should be wiped dry.
  • For cleaning, do not choose brushes with metal or hard bristles or sponges with a high degree of abrasiveness.
  • You should avoid dropping heavy objects onto the stone finish, and cutting anything on the surface of the material is also contraindicated.
  • Sudden temperature changes should not be allowed due to the sensitivity of the material.
  • If noticeable scratches appear, you can get rid of such a defect by sanding with sandpaper. A special composite composition is also applied to the surface, which is then rubbed down.
  • When a chip appears, more complex repairs are required. It is necessary to glue a piece of stone to its original place with acrylic glue. The joint must be sanded thoroughly.
