Doors to the balcony - advantages of modern models, photos, secrets of designers

Popular models

Recently, it has been very fashionable to install French entrance doors on the balcony.
And here's why: they fit very well into any interior. Thanks to this design, the space visually expands and also receives a large amount of sunlight. A distinctive feature of such products is that they are completely glass - except for the holder body. It is quite possible that such doors will have to be washed frequently, as stains from fingers or rain will remain on the glass (if the balcony is not glazed). However, now there are a large number of detergents that help remove stains quickly and easily.

Doors can be sliding or accordion-style. Each of the models has its pros and cons. It is worth noting the following fact: if before installing such doors on the balcony there was a narrow window and a small doorway, then it is better to combine everything into a single system, expanding the space for passage and “increasing” the view from the window.

Sliding structures save space, provide passage without obstacles, are easy to assemble and install, easy to use, move smoothly along rails without creating additional noise. You can install 2 doors on one rail frame.

Designs are divided into several types:

  • Sliding is the simplest mechanism where the doors move along rails on special wheels. It is suitable for balconies with a small passage.
  • Lifting and sliding – thanks to oval rubber seals, the door is pressed against the lower base. To open the door, you need to lift it slightly. Unfortunately, this design does not allow the door to be opened all the way.
  • Lift and slide doors are panoramic doors that provide natural light.
  • Tilt-sliding - from the name it is clear that to open it you need to push the door forward, and then you need to pull it sideways by the handle. If the balcony door is combined with a small window, then it will open onto it, thereby saving space.

Glass doors, lined with metal, plastic or wooden material, are interconnected by lintels that hold them in place, creating an accordion effect. This design will last quite a long time - with proper use.

Owners of loggias in dachas or balconies on the lower floors need to protect themselves from “guests”, so balcony doors can be equipped with bars. Some people think it can give a checkered look, but for many years there has been an art forging that will transform tatty iron bars. According to the opening method, steel grilles are divided into 3 types: regular swing, sliding and accordion-shaped.

  • A swing lattice door is a regular lattice that is built into the door frame. It closes either with a regular keyhole or with a chain lock, which clings to specially welded hinges. This additional door requires more space, so this type is impractical.
  • A sliding grille usually has two or one flaps, which slide sideways along special rails. Enough space is needed on the sides of the door so that the bars can be moved without difficulty.
  • Accordion grilles are considered the most practical. At first glance, it may seem that the mechanism is very simple and uncomplicated, but it is a network of steel or iron rods connected to each other by special hinges, thanks to which the lattice can be compressed and unclenched.

It is worth saying that one of the most popular is the ordinary PVC balcony door. This is due to the fact that it has an affordable price, a laconic appearance that will complement any space, as well as excellent characteristics, thanks to which it can last a very long time. You can purchase this option: one half is a plastic sheet, and the other is a double-glazed window.

What is a plastic balcony door made of?

Plastic doorways have several designs, but in general it all comes down to a frame made of a metal-plastic profile, a sandwich panel in the lower part and a double-glazed window in the upper part.
Essential elements:

  • profile;
  • metal reinforcement;
  • glazing;
  • accessories;
  • decorative elements.

There are designs that consist of two double-glazed windows. This provides more light. In general, a balcony door includes elements made of glass, metal and plastic.

The balcony block may differ in structural elements, but a general description is given above. In addition to the above elements, the design is complemented by handles, locks, door hinges, and seals.

A few words need to be said about the door threshold, which is part of the structure. Depending on the features, it can be of three types:

  • part of the door frame, connected to the frame and covered with plastic;
  • steel threshold - provides maximum strength (practically not used for balcony systems);
  • aluminum threshold.

PVC doors have their pros and cons. The latter include not very good resistance to high temperatures, although modern plastic provides low flammability.

Door advantages:

  • absence of fungus, mold, other biological microorganisms and rust;
  • soundproofing;
  • heat preservation;
  • ventilation function;
  • ease of maintenance;
  • low price;
  • Possibility of choice by color, design solutions, sizes and shapes.

The plastic system must be adjusted for tightness twice a year, when moving from one season to another. The requirement is due to fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

How to choose

When choosing a suitable balcony door, consider some simple tips that will allow you to purchase the ideal option for your home.

  1. Popular doors of the classic type (glazed top and plastic bottom) are suitable for any balcony and interior. Such models most often have a threshold, which is needed for more convenient access to the balcony, but you can easily refuse this detail if it somehow bothers you.
  2. If you want to turn to a more original and creative option, then you should take a closer look at the balcony door, in which the lower part is also made of glass. Such elements look very interesting and decorate interiors in many styles. But it is worth considering that such models only seem light in appearance - in fact, due to the large glass unit they are heavy.
  3. It is not recommended to purchase solid plastic doors that do not have glass inserts. Such options look harmonious only in public spaces. For an ordinary balcony in an apartment, only a door with full glazing or with glazing of one half is suitable.
  4. Take the selection of handles seriously. They must not only be serviceable and functional, but also easy to use. Such parts are made not only from plastic, but also from metal. The choice of the ideal option depends on the personal preferences of the owners.
  5. After installation work, you must ensure that all structures are in good working order. The door should open without any extra effort. There should be no extraneous noise (crackling, rumble or grinding noise).
  6. It is recommended to contact only trusted companies that have a good reputation in the city where you live. Plastic doors are inexpensive, so you shouldn’t save money and choose an overly cheap option, as it may turn out to be of low quality and short-lived.

Basic window parameters you need to know

To choose a plastic window wisely, you need to decide in advance on:

  • type and number of sashes;
  • type of rotation mechanism;
  • number of cameras in the profile;
  • size and material of the window sill;
  • dimensions of the opening and ebb.

Necessary measurements for ordering a plastic window

The cost of window units directly depends on these parameters. Their price is influenced not so much directly by the size of the windows, but by the class of fittings and the presence/absence of a mosquito net, as well as additional burglary protection elements.

Popular options for double-glazed windows

One of the main points of choice is the number of air chambers inside the profile of the frame and sashes. There can be from 3 to 8. But most often today they offer options with three or four cameras. Such products are relatively inexpensive and provide excellent protection from noise and frost.

Popular window profile options

Selection of fittings and profiles

When choosing fittings for PVC balcony doors, you should not save money, since the efficiency and durability of the entire system directly depends on its quality. The safest thing to do is to choose products from well-known manufacturers who guarantee the quality of their products. In addition, it is important to have various options in the fittings and their appropriateness in each specific case.

Taking measurements

Despite the parameters of window and balcony openings strictly defined by standards, even in the same apartment their sizes will differ due to a violation of the geometry, spatial position, the presence of irregularities, different wall thicknesses, and the thermal insulation used. The possibility of correct installation of a structure of the required dimensions and trouble-free operation of a PVC window and door unit is laid down at the measurement stage.

It is advisable to dismantle the old wooden balcony block before taking measurements. It is produced in this order:

  • The movable sashes are removed, and the glass is removed from the blind sashes.
  • The window sill and external ebb are dismantled.
  • The box is disassembled (broken) and removed from the opening.
  • Along the perimeter of the opening, all the plaster and screed are knocked down to the main wall.
  • Using a hammer and chisel, the grooves for the window sill to fit into the wall are cleaned down to the brick.
  • All construction waste is swept away and removed.

If the opening lines have significant deviations from the horizontal and vertical, their perpendicularity is not maintained, or they have obvious irregularities, they can be leveled with a cement-sand mixture. The necessary reduction in the balcony opening is achieved by brickwork.

After dismantling, an opening is obtained that is ideal for accurate measurements of the required new balcony block. But in this case, the opening will remain open until the new product is installed. More often, measurements are taken when the old block has not yet been dismantled, taking into account the thickness of the slope plaster, screed and other nuances. Therefore, the measurements must be taken by a specialist who will accurately determine the required dimensions of the new structure, taking into account all amendments.

To independently measure balcony and window openings in order to determine the exact dimensions of PVC products, you need to learn general recommendations from specialist measurers:

  • The frame of the finished product must be smaller than the opening. It is not allowed to rest against or touch the walls of the opening.
  • If you insert a finished frame, there should be uniform mounting gaps of 2-5 cm around the perimeter.
  • You need to measure both inside and outside the room.
  • The width is determined by three measurements - the top, bottom edge of the opening, and the middle. The smallest value is taken into account.
  • The height is also determined - on the right, in the middle, on the left. Select the lowest result.

Now you need to decide on the dimensions of the frame to be installed. They depend on the type of opening:

  1. An opening without a “quarter” - without special protrusions, smooth and uniform throughout the entire thickness of the wall. The width of the frame is taken less than the width of the opening by the amount of the installation gap. If the vertical lines of the opening are wavy or have a significant difference, the gap is made maximum - 40-50 mm. The height of the frame is obtained by subtracting 20 mm (the size of the upper gap for installation) and 30 mm (the size of the stand profile) from the resulting opening height.
  2. Opening with a “quarter”. This name is associated with the presence, along the perimeter of the opening on the outside, of a protrusion to protect the structure from falling out and serving as a convenient stop for its orientation and installation. Its size is a quarter of a brick. Measurements for such openings have their own nuances. The dimensions of the future window frame should allow it to be inserted 20-40 mm beyond the side quarters and 15-20 mm beyond the upper support protrusion. If installation will be carried out with a stand profile, then its height should be 1-2 cm higher than the edge of the protrusion of the lower quarter. If this condition is violated, it will not be possible to correctly install the low tide in the future.

Selection and installation

A door to a balcony is needed not only to provide exit, but also to improve the illumination of the room and the balcony itself. For this, a balcony door with a window is best suited. This solution will visually expand the boundaries of the kitchen or living room to which the balcony is attached, let in more light, and provide additional space in the form of a window sill.

If you want to replace an old wooden door with a new plastic structure, you don't have to hire a professional. The installation procedure is not very complicated, and anyone can handle it. For the operation to be successful, you will need to study the theoretical part, watch the video, and then you can try it. Dismantling an old door usually does not cause any difficulties, especially if you do not need its frame intact.

mosquito net

According to a survey of customers of plastic balcony doors, the mosquito net is the most popular additional device. It is ordered by almost 80% of clients of companies involved in the installation of window structures. It does not matter where the house being furnished is located: in the center of a metropolis or outside the city, far from civilization. In both cases, it copes with its functions equally well: it does not allow insects, as well as fluff and dirt, to enter the room.

This is especially important for those who suffer from allergies. Although cleanliness in the house and the absence of annoying flies and mosquitoes is a great bonus for everyone. If you wish, you can choose a slightly more expensive, but also noticeably more convenient option with a mesh made in the form of a door. It is also hinged and has a small handle for opening. This will make life much easier for those who often go out onto the loggia or balcony. In this case, you will not have to remove and then reinsert the frame on which the mesh is attached. And the process of opening and closing the mesh door will take a split second, so even the most agile insects will not have time to enter the house.

A balcony door of non-standard height or width requires special, reinforced fittings.

Design ideas

A balcony door can be not only a household product, it can act as a decorative element - both in an ordinary apartment and in a large private house.

Modern industry offers a large number of options for transforming balcony doors. This can be a change in shape, color, as well as glass decoration or simply external decoration.

As a rule, the balcony box has a rectangular or square shape, and the door itself has half-glazing. One half has transparent glass, and the lower part is blank. To make the door more beautiful, an excellent solution would be to make it in the form of an arch. You can take another shape as a basis - for example, a hexagon or triangle. This shape will update the room.

Very often, the layout of a room with a balcony is changed, namely, the loggia and apartment space are combined. In this case, the door can be purely decorative - for example, a sliding one made of PVC or entirely glass.

As for the color scheme, most often the owners install white or black doors, if they are made of plastic, or ordinary wooden ones, while maintaining the wood pattern. But today PVC panels can have absolutely any colors, it all depends on the wishes of the customer.

  • It is better to choose darker colors for the kitchen, as they are less noticeable of dirty stains that could be accidentally left during cooking. These can be shades of blue, brown or green.
  • For a bedroom or living room, it is better to choose the color to match the main interior. Many masters say that there is nothing better than white or beige, since such shades are suitable in absolutely all cases.

  • It's much easier with a wooden door. You can paint it yourself, several times. Using a stencil, you can easily create a beautiful ornament that will perfectly complement your balcony door or order a carved one initially.
  • Another way to decorate a balcony door is to replace or decorate the glass. The fastest and easiest solution is to cover the surface with a special film for windows. It can have different colors and shapes. A ready-made stained glass design that will look beautiful in the sun is immediately available for sale.
  • An excellent design solution would be to order a balcony door with real stained glass. Of course, such a product is quite expensive, but such a design will lift your spirits even on a cloudy day.

  • There are glasses made using fusing technology. Colored glass pieces are baked together to create a three-dimensional textured surface. Such a product will be cheaper than a real stained glass window, since its production does not require metal braiding of every detail.
  • If the loggia faces the sunny side, you should think about a mirror film that will reflect direct sunlight, maintaining a pleasant microclimate in the room.
  • For those who like to create with their own hands, there is the opportunity to paint the glass surface themselves - using acrylic paints for stained glass. This process will give you a lot of impressions, and the resulting drawing will be unique, one of a kind.
  • It is better to hang curtains on the eaves using rings or hooks, so that it is easy to move the curtains apart and open the door to the balcony. Don’t forget about the possibility of combining curtain materials. It can be light tulle with massive lambrequins or waves on the sides - from thicker curtains.
  • Very often they hang Japanese or Roman curtains, which are very practical and easy to use. Roller and slatted blinds would be very suitable functional additions.

What features should be considered when ordering PVC doors

Before you place an order, you need to decide which door is right for you: with partial or full glazing, whether you need additional handles that will fix the closed position of the balcony door from the outside, what profile and fittings will suit your purposes, etc. Then you need to move on to finding a company that will be ready to provide all the necessary materials. As a rule, they all have their own websites, which describe in detail what materials the company works with and what is within its area of competence.

Many people also post their price lists or even online calculators there, which will allow you to calculate the approximate cost of replacing a balcony block. It will be quite close to what you will have to spend, although the company will be able to make final calculations only after a visit by a surveyor, who will assess the exact dimensions, scope of work and, perhaps, advise using slightly different components than previously planned. Modern balcony doors are often equipped with only one handle.

There is no need to be afraid of this; she copes well with the task assigned to her. It locks the door securely, ensuring it fits snugly against the frame, and unlocks it easily. After the sites have been studied and the first calls have been made to the window companies you like most, you need to collect feedback on the work of those who are ready to fulfill all your whims for an affordable price.

Materials for balcony doors

Balcony doors can be made from several materials. How not to make a mistake with your choice? To do this, you need to study the characteristics of each material.

PVC doors

This is the most common type of balcony door, characterized by reliability and reasonable cost (for a plastic balcony door, the price, as for doors made of other materials, depends on many parameters, such as size, opening method, modification, fittings, etc.).

Metal-plastic doors to the balcony have the following advantages:

  • extraordinary durability;
  • high degree of heat and noise insulation;
  • they are not affected by temperature fluctuations and changes in humidity;
  • doors can be laminated, changing their color;
  • environmental friendliness is within normal limits.

Disadvantages of PVC doors:

  • conservative appearance;
  • the need for regular maintenance of fittings and seals.

Aluminum doors

Increasingly, structures with aluminum profiles are used as balcony doors. Moreover, warm doors made of this profile are no longer uncommon.

Aluminum sliding doors are suitable for large, high openings

Advantages of aluminum doors:

  • light weight;
  • reasonable cost;
  • Fire safety;
  • the ability to produce doors of any size and shape;
  • absolute environmental friendliness;
  • durability, estimated in tens of years;

Disadvantages of aluminum doors:

  • insufficient sound insulation of the room;
  • even warm doors are inferior in terms of heat saving to PVC structures;
  • The door surface is at risk of scratches that are difficult to remove.

Wooden doors

Unlike old door structures, which were subject to deformation from excess humidity and temperature changes, modern wooden balcony doors are an almost ideal choice. These doors are made from laminated veneer lumber, which prevents them from warping and deterioration. Typically, wooden doors have panels made of wood or MDF, or inserted double-glazed windows.

Wooden doors and windows in the balcony opening

Their advantages:

  • they are environmentally friendly;
  • the look of natural wood contributes to peace and harmony in the home;
  • convenient operation, as the doors are equipped with modern high-quality fittings;
  • noble appearance;
  • The high thermal insulation qualities of wood make the doors extremely comfortable at any time of the year.

Disadvantages of wooden doors:

  • if the balcony is not glazed from the outside, then moisture penetrating from the street affects the door. This leads to its loss of attractiveness, swelling and difficulties with opening and closing it;
  • high price, much higher than the cost of PVC structures.

We told you how you can beautifully decorate balcony windows and doors.

Glass doors

Such doors are chosen by creative people. Glass doors to the balcony do not have a frame at all. They consist of double-glazed windows (glasses) and control fittings. Double-glazed windows use thick (about 1 cm) tempered glass or triplex. It is extremely difficult to break such glass.

Sliding glass balcony doors

Advantages of glass doors:

the use of glass doors allows you to fill the room with light as much as possible; the room visually becomes larger; the appearance of such doors is so unusual that it attracts the attention of guests of the house; the doors are environmentally friendly and safe to use.

Disadvantages of glass doors:

Advantages of plastic door structures

The main feature of these balcony doors is their versatility. Bright and at the same time harmonious appearance, as well as a wide range of colors will allow the door to easily combine with any interior.

One of the most important advantages of plastic balcony doors is their tightness and, as a result, high-quality thermal insulation and noise absorption . Despite the fairly large area of the structure, heat is retained in the room very effectively. In addition, virtually the only requirement for door care is periodic lubrication of the hinge mechanisms.

A balcony door made of plastic perfectly resists high levels of humidity and changes in temperature conditions, so it is suitable even for unglazed balconies. To clean the canvas itself, no special products are required; ordinary household cleaning chemicals are sufficient. At the same time, compared to wooden structures, PVC balcony doors are much cheaper.

How to insulate with your own hands

If a wooden door begins to “blew” over time, this problem can and should be solved. You can insulate:

  • Joints.
  • Slopes.
  • The canvas itself.

Materials that may be required:

  • Insulation: foam rubber insulates the door leaf, expanded polystyrene or mineral wool insulates the slopes; any of them or sealant can be used to finish the slopes.
  • Putty and spatulas.
  • Door upholstery – natural or artificial leather, wooden panels.
  • Construction mixtures.
  • Tools: level, tape measure, screwdriver.

Insulating a door for the winter means finding the reason for the penetration of cold air and eliminating it. To insulate the canvas, you need:

  • Remove it from the hinges and place it on a flat surface.
  • Remove old paint and level its surface.
  • Seal cracks with putty.
  • Place insulation on the canvas and nail it with wide-headed nails.
  • Place the upholstery on top and secure it with nails.

To close the gaps between the door and the frame, you need to use the same technology to make 3 strips of foam rubber and leather - 2 along the width of the door and 1 along its length. The prepared rollers need to be nailed to the door. To insulate a panel with double-glazed windows, you will need window putty: it needs to process the cracks at the joints of the window and the panel.

To insulate a plastic exit to a balcony, use tubular material based on silicone rubber. The essence of this Swedish technology is to glue a tubular profile into pre-cut grooves on the door. Insulation of a double-glazed window comes down to gluing a special film on it - a polyester-based material. This film transmits light well and does not allow cold to pass through.

You can insulate a balcony door using silicone sealant. The composition is poured into a special gun and applied to the door joints. If there is glass in the canvas, you must first remove it and apply the composition to the panels, then “plant” the glass unit in place.

What the regulations say

Regulations on building codes and standards regarding the sizes of balcony doors and windows were prescribed 40 years ago - these are GOST 11214-86 and GOST 23166-99. These parameters were developed for wooden balcony blocks and frame-type boxes. A window frame was mounted in them, and the door leaf was hung on the hinges. Today, the main material for balcony structures is PVC profile. But the standards remained the same.

The table shows the main dimensions of balcony blocks for typical housing stock buildings:

If there are discrepancies with standard sizes or GOST standards, the production of door blocks does not pose a problem for modern manufacturers. To complete the project, they will need precise parameters, which they usually measure themselves.

Door leaves operate in tandem with any type of window - fixed or hinged - and are classified by type:

  • single-leaf - we leave the popularity of these models without comment. This option is practical, budget and functional. Under the window sill on the wall where the door is installed, there are heating radiators. Typical width dimensions are 0.61; 0.7 or 0.8 meters. The height (h) of the frame with the door leaf is 2-2.1 meters. The upper part of the wall is filled with double-glazed windows. This optimizes lighting, heat and noise indicators;

  • double doors - this type of door is determined by the personal preferences of the customer. They are installed during the redevelopment process or in a new home. The standard height of the width of both doors in total is usually 1.4 meters;

  • sliding - models that ideally save space, but prefer a warm climate. They operate on the principle of a wardrobe, so they require free movement in one of the directions. In these designs, the dimensions are not standardized. They are usually installed on French-type balcony blocks, insulated with heated systems on both sides;

  • folding - this option is suitable for balconies that are part of the living space with an open passage. The coverage area of this type is the entire opening. The width of the web is usually at least 0.8 m. Depending on the width, the number of links is calculated.

Before purchasing doors, you need to check with the seller about the reliability and strength of the structural parts, as well as the frequency of maintenance of important hardware elements.

Kinds

It can be separate (single) or part of a window block - a plastic or wooden structure with a movable sash and window. If the balcony opening has a window, then you will have to order a whole block: a door and a window made of plastic or wood.

A single balcony door not only divides the space, but also serves as a source of natural light if the room does not have a window.

Balcony doors are divided according to the type of opening into:

  • Swing or rotary.
  • Swivel and tilt.
  • Shtulpovye.
  • Sliding.
  • Accordion doors.

The swing model opens like a regular interior model - it swings open towards or away from you. This is the most common option not only in its design, but also in cost - it is the most affordable.

A tilt and turn door resembles a swing door - it opens according to the same principle. You can also “throw it back” and fix it at the lowest point to ventilate the room.

The hinged door is a PVC structure with two swing doors. If the width of the doorway is 900 mm or more, then it is worth thinking about it. A hinged door always has two leaves, and one of them is necessarily movable. The second can be anything: movable or fixed (deaf). The width of the sashes may vary or be the same.

For example, the width of the balcony opening is 1200 mm. It is unrealistic to install one door in it, so you will have to choose a frame design. The width of the sashes can be the same - 600 mm each. Another option is to choose different sash widths: 700x500 mm, 800x400 mm or 900x300 mm. A narrow sash is usually made motionless and a wide one is used.

French doors are fully glazed wood frames. They visually expand a small kitchen due to the large amount of sunlight. An already large kitchen or other room is illuminated and filled with life, creates home comfort and is diluted with an original approach to the design of the opening.

Sliding doors open like a compartment - they slide into a prepared niche or along the walls. When installing them, radiators often have to be removed altogether or moved to a new location. And this is perhaps the only drawback of sliding balcony models.

Glass sliding doors allow sunlight to pass through well and act as an additional source of light. They leave a wider passage than classic swing doors, since they slide apart as wide as possible. Sliding doors are famous for their safety: they cannot accidentally hit someone when opening.

The accordion door saves room space thanks to its opening system - it folds. “Accordions” retain heat worse and insulate noise, so they are rarely used as a balcony structure.

Types of doors for balconies

However, before purchasing, in addition to the price, you need to determine for yourself what kind of balcony door you want to purchase. The most popular varieties are:

Single leaf . This is a standard design in which only the door is located. It opens like a window, which is convenient for ventilating the room.

Shtulpovye . An excellent option consisting of two doors. It is suitable for large doorways. The convenience of such a door lies in the fact that moving large items onto the balcony will not be difficult, since any thing will fit through the large opening. The working sash has a tilt-and-turn version, which provides a tighter seal and the absence of drafts.

Folding, or “accordion” . The door is named so because it looks like this musical instrument. This design ensures ease of opening and closing. You don't need to put in any effort. Every housewife's dream! However, restrictions on height and width do not allow everyone to install plastic doors.

Portal . This is a sliding structure, which is a terrace option and a new development. And for good reason, because this is a bold solution for rooms whose space requires more light. Through such plastic doors, a bright ray of sunlight will sneak into the room every morning, which will be a cheerful start to the day. Plastic doors are not hung on hinges, and the load is distributed on the downward frame.

This type of door requires special attention. The main load in them is borne by plastic doors, so their wear resistance must be at a high level. It is better to buy them from trusted manufacturers, without saving on it. The price for the brand in this case, although it will be slightly higher than other options, will pay off in the future.

Width

The width of the balcony door depends on the opening. If it is standard, then the doors will be about 45-50 cm. If it is larger, it is possible to install PVC doors up to 80 cm. Why? It's simple: manufacturers produce doors only up to 80 cm wide. These are the requirements of technical conditions and design safety. That is, if the opening is more than 80 cm, you cannot install a plastic door? It is possible, of course, it is possible, but for a balcony it is also necessary, thanks to all the positive qualities. However, in cases where the opening exceeds 80 cm, there will be slightly different options for getting out of the situation. For example, you can fill out the space with sandwich panels. Then the appearance of the entire structure will not be lost, and the main door will be of sufficient size.

You can also make a sliding structure. Let's take these doors into a separate paragraph and look at sliding systems in more detail. In general, if the balcony is made in the form of a loggia, that is, the exit to the balcony runs along the entire width of the room, then it is quite possible and appropriate to make a sliding door opening system. This makes it easier to buy panels of the right size; the sliding system is much more convenient to use than standard doors. Thanks to such a system, the opening can be more than a meter, and the exit can be made panoramic using glazed doors.

In conclusion, all that remains to be added is that choosing a door to a balcony consists of choosing the right width and type of door leaf, but it will undoubtedly be PVC.

Door for unglazed balcony

A plastic balcony door opening onto an unglazed balcony or loggia can also reliably protect against cold and noise. In this case, you should be prepared to pay a slightly higher amount for reliable materials. First, you should pay attention to the profile. In the case of a “cold” balcony, you need to choose one that consists of several chambers. Secondly, think about the quality of the glass unit.
