Our Russian hospitality requires the obligatory reception of guests at home - relatives and friends. Therefore, the presence of additional sleeping places in the house is mandatory and, if the area does not allow for a separate guest room, a sofa bed is an excellent solution, which serves as a seat for you, and as a sleeping place for guests.
A sofa bed for guests, or as it is called a “guest”, performs two, no, perhaps, three functions at once: it serves for family relaxation, a comfortable conversation with guests and a sleeping place for them.
How to choose the right guest sofa and why is it called a guest sofa, how does it differ from other sofa beds?
Guest sofa - the bed is used mainly as a sofa, and as a sleeping place - rarely, only for guests, therefore, there are no special requirements for the strength of the transformation mechanism and the comfort of the sleeping place, the main thing is that the seating area and the back of the sofa are comfortable - after all, they are used daily. The main advantage of a guest sofa is its cost, cheaper than models intended for daily use, which require a comfortable sleeping area and a durable transformation mechanism. It is very easy to distinguish a “guest” sofa bed: it is beautiful, it is comfortable to sit on, but sleeping every day is not very comfortable due to the low height of the mattress.
The most beautifully designed and comfortable guest sofas are designed for the living room.
And the transformation mechanisms use the simplest, inexpensive ones. These are mainly folding beds (“French” or “American”), dolphin, roll-out.

In most kitchen sofas, it is more practical to use the “dolphin” transformation mechanism, which creates a flat sleeping area. This is one of the types of withdrawable mechanism. There is no box for linen in straight sofas, but in corner sofas it is located in the corner part of the sofa.
Guest sofas in the kitchen are beautiful, cozy and comfortable. In models for the kitchen, a convenient transformation mechanism is the “dolphin”, which forms a flat sleeping place.
In a child's room, it is more convenient to use sofas with a simple roll-out mechanism. Children's sofas with a berth are distinguished by bright colorful upholstery made from quality materials. The functionality of guest sofas can be increased by shelves built into the sides of the sofa, or shelves and (or) a table, a mini bar built into the corner of the sofa, and a drawer for bedding. However, the sleeping places of modern sofas are equipped with devices that hold bed linen and there is no need for drawers.
The size of the sleeping area of the guest sofas is designed for one or two guests.
Another achievement of the designers is a guest sofa with two independent transformation mechanisms (separate folding beds), which can be used simultaneously or separately. The disadvantage of such a sleeping place is the presence of a free space (gap) between the sleeping places.
As for the frame, internal filling, upholstery materials of guest sofa beds - they are the same as sofas for daily use.
