1. About this apartment in Rome with an area of 7 square meters. There has already been a publication here, so I will limit myself to a few photos. The apartment is located in the very center of the city - a narrow alley leads here not far from Castel St. Angelo and St. Peter's Basilica. The owner, Marco Pierazzi, an architect, has adapted the premises for comfortable living. The length is only about 4 m, the width is 1.8 m. Before him, it had never even occurred to anyone that the room could be made residential.

Kitoko was commissioned to design a mini space for one person to live comfortably. This is what the room looked like before the renovation.

An easily retractable ladder leads to a compartment with a single bed. This compartment is closed from daylight by sliding doors and also has its own lighting for reading in the dark. The ladder doubles as a storage compartment, with shelving built into the steps.
Like the ladder, the wardrobe and table with chairs pull out from under the bed. Two chairs are conveniently secured under the table.
In the space below the window there is a kitchen with a refrigerator and an under-counter microwave. A small sink transforms into a food preparation surface.
This area even accommodates a compartment for a safe and a full bathroom with a large mirror.
4. Cozy house with an area of 18.21 sq.m. with an open terrace, USA, Boyce.
Macy Miller dreamed of owning her own home, but categorically did not want to pay expensive rent or get into mortgage debt. As a result of much thought, she decided to build herself a mini-house based on a cargo trailer 7.46 m long and 2.44 m wide.
Despite its modest size, the small house has two entrance doors. The front entrance leads to the living room, which conveniently houses a flat-screen TV with shelves for books, a small coffee table, armchairs for two people and a work table that also serves as a dining table. There is also a spacious chest of drawers, on top of which there is a wide double bed.
Further along the corridor there is a kitchen with all the necessary appliances: gas stove, two-compartment refrigerator, microwave, oven, sink and washing machine.
The bathroom is located in a separate room. There is a composting toilet, washbasin and shower with the original natural pebble floor. From the kitchenette, a door opens onto the back patio with a cozy outdoor terrace.
5. Italian Silvana Citterio, artist and designer, managed to do the impossible - transform a former room of 15 sq.m. in a building built in 1900 into a full-fledged apartment. She managed to elegantly fit everything she needed into it: from a large bathroom to a kitchen, a queen size bed and... yes, a dressing room! This very small apartment has one undeniable advantage - it is located in the center of old Milan, among charming shops, restaurants, and major cultural monuments. This is where Silvana sleeps on weekdays; her place of work is located just around the corner.
Plan after redevelopment: at the end there is a bathroom, spacious enough for such a tiny apartment, on the remaining ten meters there is everything else necessary for life. On the right is a French window with a balcony.
The main advantage of Silvana’s apartment is its high ceilings, which allowed her to play with zoning on two levels.
About a third of the room is occupied by the passage from the front door to the bathroom. There is also a kitchen area with many drawers and cabinets, a built-in oven and a small refrigerator-minibar.
A small staircase leads upstairs, where there is a small round table with two chairs and a full-fledged sleeping place.
A large, full-wall mirror that reflects and thereby visually enlarges the space is an indispensable attribute of a very small apartment.
And now the fun part begins - “hidden opportunities”. Under the floor of the podium there is a kitchen surface: a sink, a cutting table and a stove.
Between the bed and the table there is a hatch that leads to a dressing room with shelves and hangers! You can go down into it along a small ladder.
The bathroom, cozy with white subway tiles, takes up almost a third of the apartment.
Here Silvana did not deny herself a comfortable shower stall, a bidet, or a large wall-mounted mirror cabinet. There was even room for a niche with books.
