12 original ideas for using lace in the interior

Features of openwork lambrequins

Before installing the openwork lambrequin design, it is necessary to take into account several features so that the entire structure evokes a positive visual perception:

A small window can be decorated with the simplest version of the openwork, which uses simple lines. This design will not weigh down the space and visually reduce the area.

If the window is not high, then you should not make the openwork ribbon too wide.

The central accented part can only be used on a large window.

For the bedroom and kitchen, choose openwork patterns for curtains in a minimalist style.

Lace wallpaper

Wallpaper with imitation lace looks great in different styles. Palace classicism, baroque, and art deco imply the use of such wallpaper in living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. Similar decorations on the walls are a direct reference to the Victorian era. With intricate and massive curtains, these wallpapers will create a solid and cozy atmosphere. And with light curtains and furniture with high legs they will add playfulness and airiness to the space.

The highest interior class in the use of lace wallpaper includes its base made of silk-screen printing or velvet. This unusual combination looks solemn, expensive and festive.

Varieties of lambrequins

There are several varieties of openwork lambrequins for curtains:

Plank or ribbon - represent a single continuous strip on which the same motif is repeated, the so-called rapport.

Modular - their principle is based on the fact that certain motifs, different in structure and size, are combined into a single ensemble. Using them you can create unusual and beautiful openwork curtains.

In the form of applications. You can use them to create the most unusual ornamental compositions. This openwork composition is attached to a bandeau for curtains.

If the room is narrow and long, then in order to expand the space, you can choose an asymmetrical lambrequin.

It is also advisable to choose it in contrast to the curtains. If you don’t want too bright and flashy options, then you can choose contrast.

Bedroom

To decorate this room, you can use both a lambrequin and an openwork curtain tieback.

Such decorative elements of curtains will help create a romantic atmosphere, adding individuality to the room.

Children's room

You can also use this design in a children's room.

But choose motives for it according to the age and gender of the child. These can be overlay elements in the form of appliques made based on fairy-tale characters or any funny drawings.

In order to choose a pattern, you can look at various photos of openwork curtains that are used in children's rooms.

Patterned space dividers

Openwork panels made of plastic, wood or glass are functional elements of homes. A lace ornament will add tenderness and lightness to an urban interior. End-to-end patterned decor can cover the entire surface of a mobile partition. An alternative option is transparent panels with lace painting.

Partitions are used in studio apartments to zone the area. The panel will delimit the living room and sleeping area, kitchen and dining room, space for work and relaxation.

Selection of color palette for lambrequin

To choose the right color for a lambrequin, you must first of all start from the tone of the curtains themselves.

Using red color you can highlight the room and make the curtains the accent in the entire interior.

If you choose turquoise or blue shades, it is better that the curtains are made in a light color scheme, for example, pale gray, white or soft pink.

A black lambrequin can decorate almost any interior, both in style and color scheme.

But here you should be careful so that the lambrequin does not drown out everything else in the interior. To do this, it should not be too large and not have too many ornate elements filling the field of the lambrequin itself.

You can choose completely different color combinations with black. Curtains of milky or champagne color look very elegant in combination with a black asymmetrical lambrequin. They can decorate both classic and modern style of the room.

If you want to add freshness to the room, you can use a green lambrequin. It will look great with orange or yellow curtains.

In any case, no matter what design is chosen for the lambrequin and what color, it can add elegance and uniqueness to the interior of any room.

Do-it-yourself lace in the interior of the house

Lace window decor

The author of the website https://annabelvita.com/ decorated his bedroom window with lace, thereby complementing the romantic interior decor and covering the window from prying eyes.

For this decoration, we used lace fabric (you can even take old tulle; we have already talked about ideas for using old tulle) and a paste that we made ourselves.

The author made a paste from corn starch: first he mixed two tablespoons of starch with the same amount of cold water, and then poured this mixture into a small saucepan with boiling water in a thin stream, stirring continuously. The same way we cook jelly. After cooling, the paste is ready for use.

I always cook this wallpaper glue with the addition of more flour, and you can also use potato starch. I make it myself, because from experience, this glue is stronger than various store-bought ones and is practically free!

I described in detail how to make glue from flour and starch in a separate article.

The window needs to be washed well and wiped dry. Spread with paste.

Cut out parts of the lace fabric of the required size, attach them to the window glass, and coat the top with paste again.

Wall decor with napkins

If you love napkins, then I offer you a surprisingly simple way to create a piece of art with your own hands that will find a worthy place in your interior.

To create a large panel, you will need several napkins of any size and color from your collection or inherited from your grandmother, aerosol glue, and a large canvas.

Place the selected napkins on the canvas, spray with aerosol glue, and straighten the napkins using a sponge.

Using a hot gun, we glue additional decorations on top - beads, various jewelry, buttons.

Let the product dry thoroughly and hang it on the wall.

You can also make very small panels from napkins, round ones or from motifs, placing them on the ceiling tiles left over from the renovation, in photo frames or even in a hoop. By the way, a napkin – Lady – will look gorgeous on such a panel.
