Review of interesting furniture, design ideas and application options

Cabinet furniture includes all furniture accessories and sets, which consist of many drawers, niches and are usually made from a variety of wood panels. It is characterized by the complete absence or very small use of various soft fillers in its manufacture. Cabinet furniture is divided according to methods of use:

  1. Direct use - furniture for the living room, children's room, bathroom, hallway, etc.
  2. Universal - these are various shelves, shelves, stands, tables, flower stands and similar products. In simple words, this is furniture that can be used in any room and to any interior.

The most common material is chipboard.

The most popular material for the production of cabinet furniture is chipboard (chipboard). This material belongs to the cheap or inexpensive price category. But furniture is made from laminated chipboard, this is one of the subtypes of chipboard in which the chipboard is covered with a milamine film. Modern standards define many parameters that laminated chipboard furniture should have. The film that covers the slab gives it strength, environmental friendliness and aesthetic appeal. Chipboard, on the other hand, is now used only as a building material. Laminated chipboard has many advantages over natural wood, and loses only in durability and naturalness:

  • Laminated chipboard - cheaper;
  • has a lot of ready-made colors and textures;
  • Simply processed;
  • Has greater lateral stability;
  • It does not dry out, but is afraid of water (mainly in the seams).

Laminated chipboard does not deform under the influence of high temperatures, is more durable, and is not afraid of moisture. The cost of such laminated chipboard is a little more expensive, but does not go beyond the average price range. It is from such laminated chipboard that most of the products of the Lerom furniture factory are made.

Take an interest in the life of the buyer and you will not miss him!

Examples of successful work with customers

I will show examples of how not to miss a client by being interested in his life

I will not give all the questions, just a few basic ones, but you will already feel the difference.

Let's take three groups of products: wardrobes, sofas and kitchens.

1. We sell wardrobes

Client says:

— For this price I would like something bigger, more spacious...

We identify selection criteria using questions:

  • Who will use this cabinet? Man and woman. Do you want us to make a separate female and a separate male half?
  • Are there small children? How many years? Yep, 3 years old. Let's immediately accustom him to order and provide a place for his things so that he can get them himself.
  • Are there dogs or cats? Can't get into the closet? They climb up. Are they lying there? Let's make a shelf for them.
  • Does anyone in the family ski?
  • Do you need space for a stepladder or vacuum cleaner? After all, all this can be placed in a closet.

2. We sell the kitchen

We identify selection criteria using questions:

  • How often do you spend time in the kitchen? How often do you cook? After all, if not often, then why offer only practical materials for facades and countertops; people won’t damage them anyway.
  • It is very important to find out a person’s height and guide him to a “fit-on” model. For what? To offer him a cabinet height that would be convenient for him to cook on.
  • Always ask the question: how often do you use the oven? After all, if a woman likes to cook and uses it often, then it is better to place it separately, at a height that makes it convenient to get food out.

3. We sell a sofa

We identify selection criteria using questions:

  • Where will you put away the bed linen? If there is nowhere, then let's provide a drawer for linen. It's not much more expensive.
  • Do you have cats? And here, don’t rush to offer only flock, first find out whether cats scratch furniture? If they don’t scratch, then you can offer other fabrics. And if they scratch, then only flock.
  • Check with the buyer, “do your legs get tired in the evening?” If they get tired, then offer them a footrest - an ottoman or a banquette. And the buyer will feel taken care of.

Dear colleagues, teach your salespeople not only to present the product, but also to build a dialogue with the client

. Let every communication between the seller and the buyer be individual.

Dialogues with the buyer that are built by sellers who have been trained by us

(The authors’ style has been preserved. Sales techniques covered during the training are highlighted in blue).

1. Olga, sales designer, Nashe Furniture company, kitchens.

First day
“Today is the first day after attending the training “Sales techniques in the face of declining consumer demand”

The first PP (potential buyer) came in in 20-15 minutes! I looked at the corner for about a minute, turned around, I greeted him with “good evening”, he smiled back and said:

-Can I take a look around here?

- Please, as soon as questions arise, I

I will be happy to answer.

The question was asked literally in a minute

—You have good kitchens, in what city are they made?

— In Grodno

- A-a-a... a good city.

—Which model did you like best? * Asked questions, identified needs.

- Yes, this one (enamel)

- So this is a bestseller, and then... my hand itself reached out to the facade, and I said: try this facade! There are no fingerprints left on it, and it washes well, because this is a kitchen, it requires cleanliness. PP stroked the facade!! *Involvement in action, and “Throwing in”

- Certainly!! agreed pp. We just settled here, you have such a choice!! I'll come with my wife.

— We will be waiting for you, take our booklet. If you come with the dimensions, we will make the project for free, you will definitely need it.* Login with condition and “Throw in”.

I'm impressed…

Second day

First pm at 16:30. A young couple. Greetings from me. We quickly looked around and immediately chose the “TECHNO” option (based on price)

-Can we count your kitchen? The fourth type of buyer

- Yes, of course, sit down (quickly sit down)

— Tell me, what are the dimensions of your room?

They don’t know for sure, since the house is new, and they were there once.

I begin to work, as always, finding out how they see the whole style of the apartment, what color of the walls and floor are planned, did they buy the doors? * I ask a series of open questions. As a result, they are just starting their search, and now the main thing for them is how much money should be planned for purchasing a kitchen.

I make 1 option according to the sizes they would like, at the same time I show ready-made projects in interior magazines, in the color we have chosen, their eyes light up... they already imagine how IT will be.. After voicing the prices of the kitchen, it is clear that it is expensive .

I offer them option 2, which I think will be MORE INTERESTING, despite the fact that it is smaller.. *Creating a trusting relationship.

— This version of the kitchen is more harmonious, it has a larger work surface, it costs 12,000 less, this money can be spent on finishing the room.

*"Sandwich".

We calmed down that it could be done cheaper. I hand them the project, brochures, business card, and explain how they can order a measurement. They thank you and leave, knowing what to do now. (having a beautiful picture of the future home in my head) I make you want to buy from us!

2. Irina, salesperson, Komandor company, sliding wardrobes

“The potential buyer (PP), a young man, flies into the salon, says hello first, heads to the standard cabinet 1882. He immediately asks the question:

-How much does this cabinet cost?

I answer: - This cabinet is from the standard series - width 1882, height 2407, depth 600 with three mirrors - 14010 rubles with delivery and installation, color and combination of doors can be different (the “sandwich rule”). What room are you choosing a closet for?

— For a room of 18 square meters, but this closet is very “thick”!

-You mean depth? (I’ll clarify). In addition to this model, there are others (I offer a PP booklet with all the standards).

Any cabinet can have a shallower depth, for example, like this one (I’m showing a cabinet in the second room with a depth of 400). In this model, instead of a bar, a retractable hanger is installed (I demonstrate, “involvement in action”).

(to clarify) What is the limitation on the depth of the selected cabinet? Can you make a sketch of your room? Have a seat.

The PP draws the room, explaining:

- We have a room in a communal apartment, the three of us live - me, my wife and child, I want to use a closet to fence off part of the room along with the front door, so that when you open the front door the room is not visible. If the closet is “thick”, then the living part will be reduced, and so there will be something like a corridor and a room.

— Maybe we should consider a larger cabinet in length, and leave the depth “thin” at 400?

PP smiled...

— Look at this model (I’m showing model 2452). You can install all mirror doors on the side of your “corridor”. This will increase the space, and on the back side make a shallow shelf for books and toys (I suggest based on the buyer’s selection criteria).

- It didn’t occur to me, I like your proposal.

— I recommend racks without dividing walls, but with vertical bars, this will make the design easier, look at what it looks like (I show a photo of the rack) (I offer it based on the buyer’s selection criteria).

- Can you count the closet and shelving?

- Yes, sure.

I do the calculations and name the amount.

Please note that until the end of the month we offer a 10% discount on the standard series (I motivate you to buy).

— I need to go with my wife to coordinate the color and filling with her. I'm happy with everything. He clarifies the salon's work on days off.

We say goodbye and sum up. I think he will come back, we'll see...

The sale took place in 3 days.”

Where can you find salespeople who know how to work with customers?

Whether you need such sellers is up to you to decide.

We train sellers in the Online Training Program for Professional Furniture Sellers on how to build a dialogue with a client so that they can quickly make a purchasing decision and recommend you to their friends.

This Program is needed by these companies that have already signed up:

  • leaders in the furniture industry who have their own training centers. But they understand the importance of improving their skills and that we are professionals. Once these companies were the most ordinary and small, they simply decided that important things should not be postponed until later, until “better” times.
  • Small furniture stores where every client counts.
  • Chains of 5-15 stores that are losing sales due to staff incompetence.
  • Companies that do not have the time or ability to train their salespeople and the salespeople of their dealers and franchisees.

But you don't need it if:

  • You have good sales.
  • Sellers execute the plan regularly.
  • No time.
  • Now is not the time (does it ever happen to you?)
  • Revenues are constantly growing.
  • The staff only pleases with their communication skills.
  • We have to wait for the autumn season.

PS What list are you and your company on?

Important!

If you do not yet know the conditions of participation and the training program, follow the link here.

MDF is a modern replacement for wood.

More recently, materials such as MDF have become widely used in the production of furniture from the Lerom factory. Its production is very similar to the production of chipboard, with the only difference being that particle board is made from wood chips, and MDF is made from wood dust. The cost of such a plate is slightly higher, but its quality is better, it is more durable, and also environmentally friendly. In the production of MDF boards, formaldehydes and phenols are not used, as in the production of laminated chipboards. The binder in such a board is urea resins, which are not harmful to human health. MDF stands for finely dispersed fraction (i.e. wood dust). The advantage of using MDF boards is that facades made from this material are superior in strength to natural wood, while their cost is somewhat lower than that of natural material. But this is not only this, we can highlight the following advantages of MDF over laminated chipboard:

  • Increased strength
  • Environmental friendliness
  • Amenable to edge processing - you can make beautiful figured processing.
  • Covered with any material: film, plastic, paint

As a rule, facades for cabinet furniture and kitchens are made from MDF boards. By the way, any material, laminated chipboard or MDF, is used in the production of furniture only covered with laminated film. Sometimes these materials are called laminated chipboard or LMDF. Sometimes these materials are painted or covered with plastic, often MDF - such facades are used for the production of kitchens. In conclusion, it must be added that modern materials provide a high level of human protection from harmful components. If the manufacturer complies with the technological process and GOST, furniture made from chipboard and MDF can serve you faithfully for many years.

How to choose the right furniture for your apartment: choosing good chairs

This is a chair - they sit on it. Before choosing this furniture for your apartment, be sure to sit on a chair. What is beautiful is not always convenient. Be sure to pay attention to the frame to see if it cuts your legs under the knees. Is the back comfortable, is its angle correct? Ideally, also try the chairs on the table. Do the chairs fit between the legs? Do they touch decorative elements when sliding under the table? Is the chair stable? Do you feel confident enough when you sit on it? Maybe it's too tall and you feel like a little girl? Or is it too low, and you remember the story about Uncle Styopa? Only if you are satisfied with the chair in all respects - feel free to buy it!

How to choose good furniture from a design point of view? Of course, the selection of chairs for a specific interior depends solely on your taste and preferences. Here are some useful tips for choosing this furniture.

Firstly, it is not necessary to buy six identical chairs (this was previously thought to be important). You can get a little naughty and combine chairs. All chairs can be different in texture, color, and design. In order to choose this furniture for the room with taste, as the designers advise, it is important to unite all the chairs with some common idea, so that you don’t have the feeling that assorted furniture was just brought into your house. For example, different upholstery colors, but the same shape. Or upholstery with the same pattern, but different colors. The main thing is not to overdo it. Remember - a beautiful house speaks of the good taste of the owner.

Secondly, two chairs with armrests are placed at the head of the table, and the remaining chairs are without armrests. This arrangement gives the dining room laconicism and completeness.

Thirdly, if the space does not allow you to keep a large number of chairs in the kitchen or dining room, and they are needed only for receiving guests, purchase three or four main chairs. Since the chairs can be of different colors and the same shape, you can distribute the rest in different rooms. One of them, for example, can be placed in the bedroom, with a blanket or robe thrown on it. The other one goes to the office and so on. And when guests arrive, all the chairs will gather together.

A chair is a great item that you can use your hands and imagination to decorate yourself. Choose different upholstery for a set of chairs or paint the frames in different colors - you will get great decorative items.

Important criteria for choosing furniture for your office are comfort and ergonomics. And, of course, a large office chair will not be appropriate everywhere. At home, the role of an office chair can be played by a comfortable chair with armrests or a small light chair.

The next section of the article is devoted to how to choose furniture such as stools.

Recycled materials:

  • These auxiliary materials are used in the internal elements of cabinet furniture or for decorative purposes:
  • Fiberboard - wood fiber board. These are usually the back walls of furniture and sometimes the bottoms of drawers. This material is usually called hardboard.
  • Plastic is a decorative material. It is used to give furniture pomp and pomp. It is treated with varnish and is sometimes indistinguishable from the base material, such as wood.
  • PPU - polyurethane foam. It is a high-density material, it is rigid and can be processed into any shape. It is often used to make wide cornices for classical furniture, as well as frames for headboards and pilasters. It is also processed, painted and varnished.

Anti-claw fabric - a panacea for pet owners

Among the tips on how to save a sofa from a cat, you can find an interesting point - to choose a fabric with the eloquent name “anti-claw” fabric as upholstery for upholstered furniture. In fact, this is a myth. It is not a specific, specially designed fabric. And it will not protect 100% from harm from the claws of our pets.

Is it all a hoax? No. The fact is that on each type of fabric, scratches appear in their own way, and depending on the structure of the weave, there are fabrics that are more pleasant for sharpening claws, and there are others that are completely unattractive. Flock belongs to the category of such fabrics - it is smooth, so it is inconvenient for claws to cling to it. Another approach recommends, on the contrary, choosing a fabric with a small pile. This is so that even if the animal walks along the sofa with its claws, the marks will not be noticeable. For example, jacquard fabrics or microfiber.

Natural wood.

And, perhaps, the most expensive material used for the manufacture of modern cabinet furniture is natural wood. Natural wood is best suited for furniture production. The living, beautiful structure of wood, covered with varnish or patina, will always delight and delight a person. The warm surface of natural wood is pleasant to the touch and gives a touch of sophistication and warmth in comfort. All luxury furniture is made from expensive types of wood - oak, beech, walnut, maple, birch, ash, mahogany. Display cases for dishes, bedroom furniture, stands and flower stands, tables and chairs are an ideal use for natural wood. Natural material is, firstly, environmentally friendly, and secondly, it is durable and strong. Furniture made from natural wood is considered more reliable. The disadvantage of wooden furniture is that it requires constant careful care.

Modular sofas are frameless furniture

Many people, when they mention modular sofas, imagine separate poufs that can be swapped and rearranged several times a day. But that's not true.

Modular upholstered furniture is a product based on a movable element. In appearance, it may be an ordinary sofa, but with the ability to change the direction of rotation of one of its parts.

The Gray-N sofa is modular: it is possible to change the location of the corner part upon request

Also, modular models include those where you can choose the design. For example, you liked the sofa; it is equipped with a minibar and a drawer in the armrest. But you don’t want a bar, but rather equip the other side of the sofa for a drawer. The client's wishes are the law. Then the factory assembles the required model from modules; you won’t be able to change anything yourself, but nevertheless it belongs to the modular category. This is important to understand when choosing a sofa, but not vitally important - the managers of the Sofas for Nirvana store will clarify all the details during the order.

What furniture can be considered interesting

Not every set of furniture can be called interesting. Usually, this concept is associated with works of design art that differ from standard furniture models. All interesting furniture is produced in limited editions and is not widely distributed. Even the release of two identical sets is very rare for elements of this style. Very often, people who want to give their apartment an unusual look resort to the help of designers. Professionals can offer truly unusual solutions for arranging a home or room. If you do not limit the flight of imagination of a competent designer, you can get a high-quality project with very unusual elements made to order.

When choosing a suitable model, you should first of all learn to distinguish unusual interior details from simply ill-conceived cabinets and sofas. A truly high-quality table, even the smallest one, will be easy to use, and the manufacturer will most likely try to supplement it with convenient functions. Such furniture sets will be easily transformed into something else, or their strange appearance simply will not interfere with their intended use.

Interesting facts

  • In Ancient Greece, benches, stools and chairs were primarily used by women and children. Men preferred couches and beds.
  • According to legend, armrests on chairs appeared after one unpleasant incident at the funeral of the pharaoh. During the official ceremony, a guest fell from an uncomfortable bench.
  • In 1911, inventor Thomas Edison introduced concrete furniture, which, despite its durability and beauty, remained unpopular.
  • The King of France and Navara, Louis XIV, went down in furniture history as the owner of the largest collection of beds - 413 pieces.
  • The bar counter was invented in the Wild West as a shelter for bartenders from the bullets of disgruntled customers and bandits.
  • The one kilometer long sofa was made in Russia in 2014. It can simultaneously accommodate 2.5 thousand people.

The sofa cannot be orthopedic

It is not true. The orthopedic effect refers to the correct support of the spine during a horizontal position. Some sofas are based on a spring block, which is complemented by soft layers. At its core, this is a typical mattress design. This structure helps to properly distribute body weight in the sleeping area.

Preferences for mattress elasticity are purely individual; thin people may find even medium firmness unacceptable. In such cases, the problem is solved with the help of a thin mattress on the sofa - a topper or futon.
