Who among us did not want our favorite corner as a child, where we could hide from adults? We had huts made of chairs covered with blankets or sheets. And before going to bed I had to dismantle this structure almost in tears.
Nowadays, someone picked up the idea of a collapsible house, and many began to make wigwams for children themselves. Let's try it too, using ready-made patterns. This house is also suitable for a children’s photo shoot, if you decorate it a little. Here is the pattern for the house. This shows the correct cutting and how much fabric is needed for a wigwam. Side 4 (1) and side 4 (2) are sewn only at the top - this is the entrance.
To work you will need:
- 4 round sticks or 4 PVC pipes - approximately 175-180 cm in height.
- The fabric for the top is cotton.
- Rope.
- Threads, scissors.
We need to drill our sticks or pipes at a distance of 30 cm from the beginning. To do this, it is advisable to take a drill. We drill all 4 pipes.
Then we need to connect the top of the house. We place the sticks evenly and tie the top of the wigwam tightly with a rope. This is an important point. The stability of the house depends on how well you connect the top.
This is the view from below. Please note: the distance between the sticks on the floor must be the same, otherwise the house will be unstable. For stability, you can tie additional sticks or slats to the lower ends of the sticks, as in the photo:
The only thing is that it will take longer to disassemble such a house than the usual one of 4 sticks. Next, we cut out the fabric top of the wigwam. The dimensions of the pattern can be changed; here we have a standard size wigwam laid out.
It is better and easier to cut the fabric as shown in the pattern. At all joints of parts we retreat 6-7 cm. We need the stick to fit freely into these “pipes”. Be sure to figure out before sewing whether it will fit into the “pipe”.
In addition to this fastening option, there is another one: sew a long strip of fabric to each side, sewn together, and thread the sticks into these loops.
If the fabric is thick, you can make a window for air, for example like this:
We try it on and stretch the fabric onto the sticks. We put a blanket or blanket inside the wigwam. Elastic bands or loops are sewn onto the ends of the blanket (see photo above).
